If you need to recharge your phone when you are inside of the airport then you need an intervention. How did these people get by with just talk and text dumb phones? How did they get by without cellphones period?

Only that's a very narrow view.

Maybe I've been at work up until I got to the airport and using my phone. I didn't have time to stop and use an outlet - but not I'm at the airport with 30 or so minutes. My battery is borderline and I need juice if I'm going to be able to call for my ride when I land or some other reason. Of course it makes sense to plug in and charge up as much as I can.

No intervention is needed for keeping up at the speed of business.

Are you assuming that everyone is just depleting their batteries taking selfies, posting them on instagram and then checking their FB feed minute after minute?

might have heard about Google…..

Just google iOS7 Battery and any number of websites pop up with information on changing a few settings that make all the difference in the world. I typically use my iPhone all day for email and other duties at work, including keeping bluetooth on all day, and auto brightness….and I routinely go home with 50% or more battery life……I charge it every night…but before I made the changes, I would be dead before dinner…..

My S4 is OK on battery life, but not nearly as good as the correctly configured iPhone…..it amazes me that people have this device in their hands and can't even muster going to Google to look up a possible solution to this….should Apple do a better job at configuring their devices for the mass public so people don't have to look this up themselves….sure….but really people….

No one will read the advert, all they will see is galaxy branding on plug sockets.

The only impact this advert will have is for you to associate needing to charge with your Samsung phone when seeing them, and ironically you'll need it more than any iPhone owner!

Samsungs market share fall is going to cripple them this next year, they literally will sell half the number of phones or less! People hate touch wiz, the lag, slow downs over time and much more. Htc and many of the other Chinese brands are going to leave them behind.

Love the new design of the Samsung GalaxyIPhone wow

Love the design of the New Samsung GalaxyIphone sorry GalaxyAlpha :D:D Now it comes in metal!! it's almost an iPhone5S but it's not it's #GalaxyALPHA hahaha

Samsung continue to cater to what they believe are their biggest supporters: Apple haters. I don't think it's much of a generalisation to say that most people I know with a Samsung phone have pre-branded Apple users as being ignorant and stupid. I think that Samsung believe what will win them this war are the users preaching which side to pick.

However in the long run, I sincerely believe that Samsung will fall. Despite their revenue for advertising and manufacturing, there's now not much that puts them ahead of other Android OEMs, and they're not awfully cheaper than Apple phones either.

I really do think that when the larger screen iPhone comes out, there will be very, very few reasons for people to go Android. It will be Apple's turning point. Samsung are terrified, and I think this is reflected with their recent advertising.

I agree that Samsung's market share is going down and that will continue, but I don't agree that Apple's is going up. With the low-end smartphones narrowing the quality gap with the high-ends, Apple needs to seriously cut down iPhone's price to stay competitive.

I agree with Apple's market share dropping. However I really think the bigger screen on the iP6 will have unprecedented sales.

If you say so.......

I think the battery life issue is a real one. I hear more people complain about battery life than brag about how good it is for sure.

Is it a real one?

I have used many different android phone, their battery life are much worse than iPhone in general. The only one that actually last longer is Droid Maxx.

Samsung phone on the other hand, eats battery at least 1-2% per hour on idle. When wakelocks occur, it sometime double.

Here's what's silly about this: Everyone knows that devices' batteries get better all the time, it's a cycle, a fact of life, and at this time, not really an issue, we actually have enough for a day in most cases. It should say: "at the time of this ad, we came out with a better battery, and at the time you read this, it may or may not still be the best." I think most users think long term. Only a small sector want to perpetually part with money to have the current best.

The Samsung kiosks were in place long before this campaign was ever launched by Samsung, so that's not the intended message. Never was. I'm saying if they want to follow through on their new message, they should take the charging islands out to prove their point, instead of sending mixed messages.

But expecting you and the other Samsung fanboys to understand that mind-bogglingly simple fact is just too much, apparently.

I'm not a Samsung fanboy, I don't own a single Samsung device, nor have I ever owned a Samsung phone, tablet, or computer. I do own two Samsung monitors, because I think they make good monitors.

"they should take the charging islands out to prove their point, instead of sending mixed messages."

Sending mixed messages? What are you smoking/what is wrong with your brain? Outlets in airport are more valued than just about everything other than food that's made quickly. Putting an outlet in an airport is AMAZINGLY good PR. "Oh sweet, an outlet. Huh, Brand X, thanks Brand X, this is really great."

They aren't there because their devices need to be charged often, they're there because airport travellers are usually in desperate need of an open outlet.

But again, I don't expect a fanboy to understand something like that. In fact, I'd bet if Apple had an advertisement in a magazine sold in airport you'd be praising them for putting in the outlet that the ticketing desk uses for their computer.

If you say so.......

I think the battery life issue is a real one. I hear more people complain about battery life than brag about how good it is for sure.

As if the only people complaining about battery life are people with iPhones? People have complained about battery life for every portable electronic device ever made. And as been stated on countless forums in regards to this type of thing, people tend to not say as much about things working than they do to complain about things... and battery life is sure not something i would guess a normal person would brag about... and battery life is something people will always want to be longer... even if it lasted over a year between charges, people would complain that it doesnt last 2 years...

and if i remember correctly, generally iPhones have longer lasting batteries when compared in real world usage... not just when comparing manufacturers modified stats...

And Samsungs power save mode is not a good comparison to say you phone has a longer battery... sure if you disable everything the battery will last longer... for one because you wont be using it for most things people use a smart phone for... especially in an airport... seriously... no WiFi, no LTE, so that leaves you will Cell Phone Service for phone calls only right? I dont know about most people, but my experience using any cell phone in a airport has been a struggle to get reception - so what exactly are these ads saying? Samsung users have no reason to be wall huggers cause they have no use for their phone?

Also, maybe the reason iPhone users complain more about short battery life is because their phone is more useful with more features so they use it more? and when the battery is low they dont want to stop using it just because it is low? Vast majority of people i see with a samsung phone use it for a phone and nothing else... there is one person at my work that uses her samsung almost as much as people use their iphones here... in fact she is the only one that does not use skype on her phone, only on her computer... after talking with her, i get the feeling people who prefer Samsung phones just have a different idea of what they want to use their phone for, and either one the iPhone or the Samsung is more than they need so they decide on price or some other small factor - she went with one that was waterproof...

No, they don't. There are some exciting things in research, but since the switch from nickel to lithium, there hasn't really been any advances with regards to batteries.

Well.... I'm have to say, that is brilliant advertising. I'm sure it hardly cost them anything to put advertisements by outlets. That advertising is not attacking users of other products, but encouraging them to switch to a product that better meets their needs. I say that as my iPhone is dying right now. I'm still not switching ecosystems though :p

In this day and age, there is no reason for anyone to be hanging around a wall outlet. There are tons and tons of rechargeable batteries -- some as small as a tube of lipstick -- that will keep the juice flowing to a phone for anywhere from hours to several days.

I personally have two rechargeable batteries. I never leave for a trip without having at least the 12,000 mAh battery in my bag. That sucker will charge my iPhone from completely dead to 100% at least 7 times and it fits nicely in a small pocket in my backpack. I could be traveling for a week, using my phone constantly, and not be tethered to a wall outlet at all for the entire trip.

The only people who are "wall hugging" are people who are ignorant of the better alternatives that exist. And no, using a Samsung Galaxy S5 with its display in black and white "power save" mode is not one of those better alternatives.

And no, using a Samsung Galaxy S5 with its display in black and white "power save" mode is not one of those better alternatives.

Maybe not, but an S5 with a spare battery or two is vastly better. You can go from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds.

This obviously applies to all phones with easily accessible batteries.

So in the power save mode the new Galaxy is crippled so much it's next to useless any way, so they would need the power outlets more than the iPhone. I'm by no means a big user but my iPhone 5s usually lasts at least 2 days between charge, some times longer.

Samsung is just annoying !!!

He/she might be talking sarcastically ! As for Battery improvement , definitely there major focus on battery research ! From Boeing to Tesla!

It's not a narrow view at all. For every *supposed* power user that truly needs their phone most of the day there are millions of crack head phone users that are doing EXACTLY what your last paragraph so perfectly states. They ARE just shoving their phone in their face every other minute so they don't miss an *important* text or whatever. Yeah, right.

Take a look around anywhere you go. Most people are focking around with their phones the whole time. It is what it is. But it is certainly NOT the fault of the battery makers. It's the fact that people can't put the crack pipe down. Or, I mean phone. :D

Don't they realize there are a lot of iPhone users that buy TVs/Dishwashers/AC Units

It seems very short sighted to me that Samsung has tried to poke fun at iPhone users, because are potential customers of their other samsung products!

If they want to make fun of me, do they really expect that me to buy a Samsung TV when I shop for one?

I'm not going to buy anything branded "Samsung".

Nice try crapsung but I am not a wall hugger I use a power case my battery last longer then any crapsung product and the battery does not explode.

You realize that Apple batteries have been known to explode from time to time.

Let me get this straight, you require a power case to have better battery life then a Samsung. Isn't that the point of the ad?

I think this is partly about the user. Some people pay attention to the battery life before heading to the airport. Others do not.

So basically Samsung's target market is fanboys and their goal is to entice flame wars in the comments sections on tech sites. If they were confident about sales of their own products (or not scared you know what less about a bigger iPhone) there would be no need for these ads. Though I'm not sure how these ads take market share from Xaiomi in China.

Ah, then the same was to be said for the "I'm a mac" commercials? Not confident about sales of their own products?

In reality a lot of companies do it. Pepsi vs coke for example.

Like Apple did with the mac v PC adds? PC user is the dork while mac user is the cool hipster.

More hypocrisy at its finest on MR.

heh, should have read down a post.

LOL

Good one Samsung !!!!!

Unprecedented sales for iPhone users. Android users don't switch back. Remember, we were iPhone users and we got sick of it.
