That's pretty funny and insightful.

It was a joke hence the xD

lighten up, you don't have to go on the defensive anytime someone speaks against Samsung (especially when they're joking)

With that being said, Samsung does make some incredibly stupid commercials, this one is just not am example of one.

samsung is soiling its pants. the 4th? rendition of the S5 clearly copies iphone 5S. - such a 2013 design. sigh.. they are still lagging and copying. quite a few of my sammy friends are poised to change to the new apple offering. let's wait and see.

Samsung continue to cater to what they believe are their biggest supporters: Apple haters. I don't think it's much of a generalisation to say that most people I know with a Samsung phone have pre-branded Apple users as being ignorant and stupid. I think that Samsung believe what will win them this war are the users preaching which side to pick.

However in the long run, I sincerely believe that Samsung will fall. Despite their revenue for advertising and manufacturing, there's now not much that puts them ahead of other Android OEMs, and they're not awfully cheaper than Apple phones either.

I really do think that when the larger screen iPhone comes out, there will be very, very few reasons for people to go Android. It will be Apple's turning point. Samsung are terrified, and I think this is reflected with their recent advertising.

What's funny is that in the process of labeling Apple users sheep, Android users have become exactly that.

It's all good bro. My comments actually have nothing to do with Samsung per se. I tend to get a little bent out of shape with Apple fanboys (not Apple fans b/c there's a huge difference there) and take it out on those who don't deserve it. Apologies.

Ive seen plenty of fanboys on both sides and yep I agree with you, they're incredibly annoying! No need to apologize, its all good

I call shenanigans (Have to use the South Park term instead of saying BS) Every time there is a post about battery life, somebody comes on claiming they get plenty of battery life from their iPhone..ending the day with plenty of charge.

Sure, if you put your phone away for the entire work day and never use it, it could have 30% or 40% at night. But how many users on here would leave for the day without a charger in their car/office/briefcase/backpack and trust it would get through the day with 'plenty of charge'?

Nope, no shenanigans.

I'm on my phone periodically throughout the day for e-mail and web surfing and the occasional phone call. I should also point out that I am in office wifi all day long and have wifi at home which I would expect makes a difference.

I know a few people that have trouble getting through the day (they are big gamers) but most people I know have no issues getting a full day. They may not wind up with 40 to 50%, but they have no problems.

Looking at my phone now, I have 80% and it's 12:40 pm. I have made a couple of calls, sent and received several texts, listened to a podcast on the way to work, checked some product reviews in Safari and played a few rounds of Yahtzee. That is reasonable and typical of my usage.

Samsungs ads are so great. No wonder those internal Apple emails showed them freaking out about them. Hopefully Apple can get it together and come up with a cohesive campaign instead of so many unrelated random spots.

I understood it perfectly. I've seen a lot of spin regarding its meaning. Anyone without blinders on knew what inferences were being made. Cool hipster dude with the skinny jeans and untucked shirt (where have I seen that before? Hmmm, the last development conference with apple) vs the stodgy dorky PC.

Like I said, if anyone wants to know the definition of hypocrisy, they can come spend an hour on macrumors and there will be plenty of examples.

Gotcha: So what you're saying is, it's perfectly okay for Samsung to make really bad decisions about marketing, so long as Apple made those really bad decisions first.

Let's review:

- Two wrongs make a right.

- Once again, let's cheer Samsung for copying Apple on something, even something viewed universally as bad.

Just making sure we're on the same page here.

The UPSM performs exactly as it's supposed to perform. It gives you the ability to use the phone in emergency situations (as you stated) without worrying if your phone is going to die before you can charge it. Seems to me that is something every phone maker should have. I don't see a downside. I think I would rather turn my $800 smartphone into a $50 phone than have it be an $800 paperweight.

Yep. Spot on. For once, Apple should copy Samsung.

The independent test a few posts above yours begs to differ.

----------

I'm more apt to trust independent test results (even if Samsung phones are rated higher). I will not however trust Samsung's tests. They have been caught rigging tests too many times.

In any case your mileage will vary no matter what device it is that you carry, it all depends on how much you use it and what you do. My point is, iPhones are no worse than any other device in real-world use, this is just Samsung being Samsung and trying to skew perception. But if it works for them, have at it.

I know way more people who have battery issues using Galaxy S3's and S4's. It's not even close. The brand new S5 appears to be better, but I don't even know anyone that has one to ask.

The S3 and S4 owners that I know were prepared to move to a different device if battery life didn't improve with the S5.

Samsung is a scumbag company!

Just simple Google can inform you that Sadsung has a despicable history of many evil doings, including copying and hurting Sharp. I would rather buy a Windows Phone than Sadsung's garbage stuff.

Good point. Apparently Apple execs know something some posters do not.

Samsung's ads have had such an effect, that Apple is reportedly thinking of dumping its longtime ad agency.

Although, hmm. That same old ad agency wrote that infamous note saying that Apple was at a critical moment, and needed to make changes such as dropping their lawsuits, giving back more to the China community, and coming up with bigger phones.

Interestingly, Apple seems to be following their advice. Maybe Cook realized that they had become too isolated in Cupertino.

This is a very clever in-group/out--group campaign.

Everyone can often use a charge at the airport. But...

If you're a Samsung user you appreciate that they're making outlets available.

If you're a Apple user, Samsung is picking at a sore spot, and the more you care about Apple products the more irritating it will be to plug into a giant Samsung ad. Never mind that some people will feel social pressure on plugging that iPhone in (if you don't think this is you, then just think soccer moms that are intentionally trying to following the herd).

I must admit that S5 has superior battery life than my iPhone, but it goes down every apps you install, and iPhone can held consistency of battery longer.

Hopefully android can be more efficient in power usage in the future. I never seen people really use the Ultra Power Saving feature because it crippled the device.

The problem is that every app you install wants synchronize with external servers. This eats battery life. I block everything from sync-ing, except WhatsApp (for obvious reasons).

That is a very good point. If there are apps or features that you don't need and they gobble resources – turn 'em off.

My girlfriend's iPhone was experiencing bad battery life. It turned out to be the Plex app and required a full restore to fix. A bit of a pain I suppose, but it fixed the issue.

The funny part is that all my friends with galaxies a ALWAYS have an extra battery or charger with them. I have not once brought my charger out because I never need it. Sooooo..... Sorry Samsung but you fail

First, having an extra battery is the opposite of fail.

I was just at a multi-day conference and battery life was a big issue. The conference had bad receptions/poor wifi so by 6pm everyone who had an iPhone had their phone die making it rather difficult to coordinate dinner with them. The sammy users swapped out batteries, so they were generally good. Though honestly the best battery life were the few that had Nokias.

I also traveled through Newark a couple weeks ago. The Samsung towers I saw were entirely iPhones. I should have snapped a shot.

It goes back to usage. I've said this before but I can make my g3 last a day and a half easy. If I really wanted to stretch it, I could probably get close to two days. But...I can also make that sucker die in six hrs.

Samsung phones have bigger batteries so of course by definition they will last longer, but I don't believe anyone who says they're getting two days of life with any real usage. On a light to moderate day, my g3 is at 30 or so percent by the time I get home at night.

I wouldn't go to bed without charging it, and if I did you bet I'll carry my charger to work with me.

Now if you barely use your phone, both iPhone and the newer Samsung's will last you till you get home.

As an aside, I find it funny that some here are acting as if samsung did something special with their batteries. They didnt, they just threw a bigger one in there. That's not to say apple shouldn't do the same, they definitely should.

That "ad" looks like it was mass produced at Kinko's on a rush order, then deployed by 15 year olds for a school project. Sloppy

I have a Nexus 5. The battery life is .. OK.. Honestly, I think my galaxy nexus was better (when the battery was fresh). I make it to about 10pm usually with 10-15% battery left if I don't charge during the day. I have no idea how that compares with the iPhone. It's all very subjective anyway. How much time do you spend on your phone, for example?

Exactly how does Samsung come out on top?
Because battery actually lasts compared to the iPhone and many other phones, this is one ad I actually agree with although in fairness I'm not a fanboi that hates Samsung as quite a few on this forum appear to be.
Either your phone is messed up (take it to the Apple store, they actually help) or you live/work in an area with absolutely terrible service and its bleeding your phone dry.

The 5S should last all day.
I'm not taking my iPhone back again, this is my 3rd iPhone since I took out my contract last year and I'm fed up of replacements. Maybe it is EE although I'm in central London with full signal so I doubt it's the service.

Here is the problem with this. The power saving mode only works when you are not using your phone. Obviously Samsung is proud of the fact that people with Samsung devices don't use them much.

You can turn off things like push email and push notifications and you can also realize that you are not as important as you think you are. You don't need to be constantly connected. Quite frankly, you could disable cellular data all together when you are at the airport, talk to other people, text your loved ones or "call" them? There is also wifi.

If you need to recharge your phone when you are inside of the airport then you need an intervention. How did these people get by with just talk and text dumb phones? How did they get by without cellphones period?
