Hate to say it but...

Burned Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Still More Innovative than the iPhone 7.
Hahahaha.......choked on my coffee...laughing so hard.

Now this is what you call die hard trolling.

Yes the Titanic sank, but up till then it was the best cruise ever!

Or even better.....

Burned hydrogen filled airship Hindenburg Still More Innovative than those cruise ships.

This would probably be a good idea. GM canned the Corvair, Ford the Pinto. IMO, the Note name is done. It's going to be a huge task to get customers to return.

I think they should just have two different sizes of the S8, both with S-Pen support. Until then, lay low internationally and focus on ensuring this never happens again.

Personally, I think Samsung will take great caution to ensure this never happens again. I don't like Samsung phones, but I would feel completely comfortable buying an S8 from a safety perspective.

Time to start over and bring out the Note 8 early.

Or please... hurry up with the folding phablets!

I'm not entirely sure Samsung may release another Note, at least by its current name. I'm wondering if they will rebrand the name or change the title to something else. It's all about damage control now.

I think that is a good idea, as long as they don't call the larger one the S8 Plus. :D:D

Ignoring all the jokes and whatnot, this is actually a pretty big deal. Good thing Samsung are taking action, but one has to wonder whether it's too late. From a PR standpoint, that is. Obviously it's bad, but how bad, only time will tell I guess.

Good thing is that the material damages, while substantial, haven't been any more severe.

Hope Takata doesn't take same good action as Samsung.
Recall and replace exploding airbags with more exploding airbags.

Big deal......you bet it't a big deal. One more time at bat, three strikes you out.

I wonder if the best advice is really to power it down and put in in a drawer. Seems to me you should run down the battery first.

Yeah... that's why I didn't specify what they would call it. My mind immediately wants to call it the S8 Plus! S8X maybe? After all, they passed up the only problematic execution of the "X" several years ago: Galaxy S3X

Wonder if it's a software glitch?
Hope it's not some sick form of corporate sabotage. Fishy situation indeed.

I'm quickly running names through my head that might be a good alternative, but they can't use Max, Pro or Plus. X could be it.

A year from now no one will care. And everyone who is happy with a galaxy S7 will go and buy an S8 regardless of the Note. People are acting like Samsung only makes one (or 2) phones.

Dag, can they even send a text saying Phone on fire, text back later! ?

Spontaneous my a.. (posterior), they designed it that way. Nothing spontaneous about it. Design a battery cavity too small for the battery. Then fill that cavity with a battery sensitive to pressure. Three stooges design team and three stooges quality department. Stop making excuses. This is total FUBAR

Boy they sure... blew it... on this one.

I apologize for that.

Anyway, glad the Google/HTC Pixel stepped in to give Apple something to compete against this year since Samsung botched it.

Four to five years ago batteries in Samsung phones were made and assembled in South Korea by Samsung SDI. I've got one of these batteries still running after four years. Since then they've transitioned to cells made in South Korea but assembled in China. Now, cells are made and assembled in China and are open to sabotage. Samsung need to consider this and bring critical component manufacturing and assembly back in house.

How did the spec war cause the battery problem?

Samsung: "ZOMG, our battery has super quick rapid instacharge plus ultratech! Super dense & needs space around it to expand.... but we don't care! We have the same thickness as dumb slow charge normal batter junk iPhone, don't buy!".

Pretty much like that....

Funny how this was one of the highest rated phones ever, and it was prophecised by most tech sites as "the phone" that was going to kick the iPhone while it was down because iPhone 7 was rumored to be crap a year before it was released.
