I don't know why Apple isn't promoting this more, but these are 100% their screens. Samsung and LG are merely physical manufacturers. Apple develops the entire technology. These are the only screens with movable layers and a matte finish.
Because Apple doesn’t care and their customers don’t care. 🙂 The ONLY difference between one Android phones and another can be described on a spec sheet, so spec sheets is all their customers care about. Getting the most bullet points for the least money, even if that comes with unidentified compromises. They have been marketing to more affluent customers for years and their first year fold sales are going to show it. At this point, they just want to be a part of the conversation so that they can piggyback on the non-Android folding phone coverage.

I enjoyed the new era at Apple with Ternus - felt harmonic, foremost.

Stay classy Samsung
They will.

I think Apple will too at this phase - it felt a lot more harmonic with Ternus.
So looking forward to what will happen with these phones.
I’ll wait quite a while to buy the Duo - my mini serves me well for now.
But it can be grate to NOT need to take a iPad mini with me, at certain situation.

Samsung have been making foldables for almost a decade, and released their Fold 8 couple of months ago, so how have they copied Samsung? All the optics look like it’s the other way round.
Samsung's first foldables were garbage. The Fold 8 looks nice. Given how big a customer Apple is for Samsung Display, I sometimes wonder if Samsung Mobile exists partly to advertise to Apple. I.e. they let Apple know what is possible so they can decide whether the technology is "ready for prime time."

Oh Samsung, they sure talk a lot of crap for a company who relies on using payola to remain competitively relevant. Just sit down and continue making our chips, displays, memory modules before your lights get cut off.

Without Samsung this iPhone would not exist. They developed the technology and are the one making its display. Apple just designed a few fancy icons, zero innovation.
It sounds like the display is different from what's currently in Samsung devices. Yes, Samsung is fabricating it for Apple, but Apple has engineers who design the display. They tell Samsung what the make and Samsung makes it. In other words, it's not just Samsung dictating, "This is what we have, take it or leave it!"

Let’s not forget that Apple themselves have copied the duo name and form factor from the Microsoft surface duo, from seven years ago
You say that but no one has a trademark on the word duo...

Hell>>> apple had the PowerBook Duo in the 1900s...

I don't know why Apple does not look at developing their own screens or going to another OEM.
I thought Apple did develop their own screens and samsung just produces them. Like how they develop their own SoC's and TSMC produces them... From androidinfotech dot com (first source I found):

Apple designs their own displays, samsung just manufactures them. You don't say TSMC makes the A-series chips and apple has zero innovation; apple designs it and TSMC manufactures it. Same with samsung and the displays apple uses.

Ofc it did. Samsung just got blown out of the water (as usual) by Apple and has to reseort to childish shade throwing. Same as it's always been.
That's not really true though it is? Look past the impressive engineering and Apple made an iPhone that turns into a bigger iPhone. That's it. It doesn't do anything new.

Samsung make a phone that turns into an actual tablet. That becomes a retro gaming dream at 4:3. That becomes a PC when plugged into a display.

When I'm spending upwards of £1500 on a phone utility > aesthetics. It either does everything or it's not worth it.

Whilst I don't doubt for one second it won't sell milliins of units the Duo is outmatched by an iPhone 17 and an iPad Mini which is about 75% of the asking price if you buy new.

Apple is going to sell more foldables during the iPhone duo preorder than Samsung will all year.

To me this is a really sharp takeaway.

You got to the ground truth of the device.

It's doing absolutely nothing new via it's different design, which is a shame.
