Samsung Mocks iPhone Duo

It's kind of funny how folks used to mock iPads for just being "bigger iPhones".

Here we have an iPhone who's entire value proposition is turning into an iPad (a bigger iPhone) ... and that's it.

Exactly. It’s annoying when posters just post something as fact without ever checking themselves. Apples been using Duo since the 90s. Even the Magsafe Duo charger used the name.

Apple is going to sell more foldables during the iPhone duo preorder than Samsung will all year.

I don't doubt that. The DS outsold the PSP despite the latter having much better tech and utility. Doesn't mean they can't both coexist.

On a side note I really hate these threads. This isnt aimed at yourself at all but there are some sections of the fanbase who can't seem to take some banter from a corporate rival or maintain any sort of objectivity at all.

Is the iPhone Duo a stellar release? Undoubtedly. Is the Z Fold 8 a brilliant device? Also undoubtedly.

Fold 8 costs $520 less than Duo in Sweden. Even 256GB Fold 8 Ultra cost around $312 less. Entry level Duo cost whopping $2810(incl taxes) here!

Samsung took to social media today to mock the iPhone Duo while Apple announced the device.

In a series of sarcastic posts that did not explicitly mention Apple or the iPhone Duo, Samsung made comments like "Let us know when you're done reheating our leftovers" and "Was it exciting? No. Did it happen? Yes."

Samsung used an #ItsTimeToSwitch hashtag in some of its posts.

Launching on Friday, October 23, the iPhone Duo will compete with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8 and other foldable devices already on the market. Apple will begin accepting pre-orders for the iPhone Duo on Friday, October 16, with U.S. pricing starting at $1,999 for a model with 256GB of storage, compared to $1,899 for the Galaxy Z Fold8.

Poor comparison the ds was priced much less the psp.

To me this is a really sharp takeaway.

You got to the ground truth of the device.

It's doing absolutely nothing new via it's different design, which is a shame.

It's the iPhone Air all over again. Now that is a lovely device and I had one for about 6 months and loved it. But it was ultimately just a thin iPhone with less utility than it's brethren.

Pencil compatibility on the Duo is definitely a win. But Apple ballsed up big by not letting a phone with the power of an iPad Pro not run iPad apps.

Developers shouldnt have to be making changes to their iOS apps when they already ship iPad binaries within.

People are praising the software experience on the Duo but it has so much wasted screen space.

Samsung should stick to making those components that aren't complete garbage. Their phones and household appliances should come with a sticker that says "use once then discard." They usually at least last that long.

No. Samsung Display - nothing to do with Samsung US here or Samsung Mobile who make and design the phones. Samsung Display are just a fabrication plant - they make screens for Samsung's consumer division like they do Apple.
