Apparently you didn't comprehend Apples obnoxious add. What goes around, comes around. My my, we have a lot of hyper sensitive fanbois here. They can dish it out, but they can't take it :)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-15870020

Pretty poor timing to be snide.

Tbh, Samsung has nothing to lose from the ads. They're unlikely to offend potential customers, the media is unlikely to pose the ad in a negative light (it's actually kinda funny to poke fun at a certain segment of Apple's clientele) and it's not like they've taken out billboards across major cities that actively insult people.

That being said, if this is Samsung's 'ramping up' offensive on Apple, it's utterly pathetic. Apple secures a ban on Samsung selling their products, Samsung makes a snide ad on the Internet.

I'm sure Infinite Loop is a hive of intense activity of people giving less than one ****.

I think it’s kind of funny how a few Android fans, and a couple of anti-Apple advocates manages to see this thread as a thread about whining and hurt Apple fanboys. :) By all means, a few of those are present, but the majority of the discussions has been about the merits Samsung's ad has as a piece of advertising.

Personally I can't see where they want to go with this. They seem to have lost their own product in the process of ridiculing the more extreme among Apple-fans. And who do they want to reach anyway? People who are embarrassed about fanboyism are already embarrassed about fanboyism but if they prefer iPhone will this sway them? Highly unlikely. Even the most rabid anti-Apple guys out there are given very little reason to buy a Samsung in this ad. "Buy a Samsung because being an Apple fanboy is silly?" I just don't get it, why would you chose a Samsung over a HTC, Nokia or Blackberry based on this ad?

Sure, Im not gonna jump ship any time soon...but you cant deny that was hilarious. They totally captured the Apple fan cliches. I Loved it:D
no different from the gamers who wait in line of the latest Gears or Call of Duty release.
I use to wait in line overnight to buy tickets to concerts.
Those were fun days :)

And who are you to make comments on people that have passion over a product?

This thread is a perfect display of Apples fanbois juvenile hyper sensitivity. It's just an ad. Or is it ?

The fact that it's caused an uproar like this, is proof positive that fanbois identify their self worth vicariously through the phone they own.

The reactions reveal how much fear Android has caused them.

Even funnier is the fact that fanbois bash Android as a very poor phone. So if that's the case, why all the uproar?

It's simple really, Android is coming on strong and striking fear in the hearts of the diminutive iPhone lovers.

Me? I own both and could not be happier.

Why?

Apple has finally learned how to make a phone that works well when calling people. That would be my iPhone 4S

Samsung has made an amazing phone that does everything I want.
That would be my SGS II.

The best of both worlds.

To the haters I guess that makes me an AppleAndroid fanboi...ha... ha

I thought it was funny, they really nailed the cliche.
Will I change my phone? No
I don´t think they are trying to sway iPhone users with this, more likely to sway people that want an Android or Windows phone.
People in that camp will nod with recognition, feel part of a "community", just like Apple users have done in the past.
(It´s always some truth to a cliche)

I doubt Apple or anyone here is worried about an ad that has zero effect on Apple's mindshare. Especially when the ad is an attempt to keep Samsung's customers from straying.

We've seen these kinds of ads before - from MS, Motorola, and even from Verizon. They all either had little to no effect or, in the case of Verizon, were a prelude to them falling all over themselves for the very Apple product they were mocking.

Attacking Apple at the height of their popularity usually doesn't resonate with consumers. It's like saying cute puppies with floppy ears are the devil's spawn. It won't work and is more than a little misplaced.

If anything, it's everyone else that's probably a little worried:

This reminds me of a video from last year about the Evo 4G, it strongly made fun of the iPhone fanboy stereotype, but made it so extreme that it is not insulting

Just a forewarning that there is a bit of language involved

It's interesting to note that most of Apple's ads are classy, well-made, fun, even loveable. Even the ones that poke fun at the competition (i.e., the Get a Mac ads) you can't help but chuckle about - that lovable duo at it again!

The competition's ads, however, range from ugly, crass, cheap, and in certain cases downright homophobic.

Apple's ads show: production quality + message quality. The competition's simply show a lot of arm waving in windmill fashion, hoping to cause maximum injury to whatever they manage to hit.

u do know that this vid is not official right? it was made by a best buy employee and deals with experience with iphone users. It has nothing to do with htc besides him using an evo...

i dont see the problem at being a fan of something. i think its actually good to belive and trust in something you like.

some people see being at apple fan like being a terrorist. man, relax!! its not a big deal

true that bro. thats because apple is NOT DESPERATE. with this kind of publicity you can see the competition is :D

that was a low punch. hope apple strikes back :D

damn some of you iphone users are extremely sensitive... and way too politically correct & serious. It was a funny ad that mocked the common perception of iphone users which in a lot of cases is true. Samsung wasn't making this add to woo you to the SGS2 it targeted a whole different user-base.

Reading some of these comments some suggest apple sue samsung for using an iphone in the ad really? sue for a commercial? Others sound like they want to destroy samsung then there the "iphone sold MILLIONS!!!" so it's better sect...

Life is too short to take tech so serious, I get it you love your iphones great but jeez the responses are borderline cult-ish. It's just jokes.

I love one of the comment on that page:
"I've used several android phones, including the one sitting to my left. It's fun, has some decent apps, some interesting features. It's also as intuitive as the cockpit of an F-16."

Well said. Well said.
This ad is basically pointless.

Read this thread again... what you see? full of insecurity.
That ad made a huge difference already.

In what? the feeling of a few MR forum-goers?

It'll take a helluva lot more than that sort of ad to make a dent in Apple's mindshare when it comes to worldwide iPhone-mania.

Ads like that have been done before, to little effect. Attacking Apple in that fashion usually comes to nothing. Which, of course, doesn't keep them from trying.

There's really nothing to see here, save for another amusing attempt by one of Apple's competitors to try their hand at cracking open one helluva puzzle box.

Good grief. Living on planet Mars?

Apple has never marketed iPhone 4S as a 4G capable device although HSPA+ has now been sectioned as a 4G standard.

May be you just hate Apple or are simply dumbfounded by not recognising the fact that most carriers and manufacturers are just using their advandantages here. Manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Motorola are all calling 3.5-3.9G speeds as 4G speeds.

Again, real 4G = 1Gbps where LTE and similar are ~ 330Mbps. LTEAdvanced which is going to take more than 5 hours to develop and be actually usable is the actual 4G speed.

So get off the glasses, and see the real thing out there. Apple is not the one who's using these terms. On the other hand, Samsung, Motorola, HTC are the ones using these terms to fool people. Oh yes, I would love to see how you respond her.

Maybe, all your hate is towards Apple after all.

Since when is 4G 1Gbps? Not even today's cable internet can match that. You would need to pay at least $700 a month to the carriers for that kind of speed. WiMax/HSPA+/LTE are all 4G (fourth-generation).

There you go. It did make a difference cause even you are writing in a "I'm hurt" tone. And do you know why and what's wrong with that statement? ---> Nobody is attacking nobody. They are making fun of fanboys. That's huge difference AND it's obvious lol.

Since the very inception of 4G standard. I don't deny that that even today's cable internet cannot match that; but it's just the way the standards have been set. People have now started referring the actual 4G as 5G because achieving true 4G before 2015 is absolutely unrealistic.

No serious person would use an android handset. It simply offers a tiny fraction of the functionality of other platforms.

When you say Android has a tiny fraction of the functionality of other handsets, could you please explain to me the functions that you feel they lack? I cannot think of a large amount of missing functionality, but I CAN think of things I can do that I couldn't on my iPhone.

This ad is not for the Die-Hard fans of either phone platform. It's to grab up the ones that are sitting on the fence, unsure what to buy, and who would find the line-waiting Apple Fanatics and that whole process somewhat silly. I had to buy the new Macbook Air so I waited in line the day it was released to get it. I felt silly in doing so...... But I knew I wanted it for the vacation I was going on.

A few things: I work at Best Buy, and the line about "how will they know I've upgraded" was actually heard by me when I was helping on the i4S launch day. Surely I'm not the only one who's actually heard it. Whether you like the commercial or not, it is funny and we've all actually heard these things spoken. Maybe we've even said some of these things ourselves.

As for Android phones not having lines, when there is a sought after phone there is every bit the same demand at a Best Buy as there is for the iPhones. We had lines for the Epic Touch 4G, Evo, Evo 3D, Nexus S when it launched for T-Mobile and when it launched on Sprint, and the original Galaxy S phones the Captivate and the Fascinate. The craziest line I've ever seen at Best Buy for a phone was the iPhone 3GS, and it was VERY closely rivaled by the OG Evo.

Someone get this guy a beer. Completely agree with you. I've got a couple of iOS and Android devices, I love them all...they all do everything I want them to, and really well. Its pathetic seeing people judge the android system based on what, picking one up and playing with it for a couple of minutes in the store.
