When your main sales argument is to discredit others, it is that your company is not doing well....

This is common practice. Apple did with Intel for a while when they marketed their PowerPC processors, and they were doing remarkably well. Don't get all salty because someone is effectively doing the same thing to Apple. Apple is also guilty of some really annoying stuff they do with their products and towards us, customers. They're not perfect.

It’s interesting in the fact such adverts never seem to air in the UK (as an example).

Each device has it’s own merits and each device also has it’s own weaknesses.

Different people have different needs; I, like a lot of others, go for what works for me.

I know I mentioned this. I’ve never seen any of these ads over here. Only ones I’ve seen is where Samsung Just advertises the phone. No mention of Apple. I thought these were just Internet ads but they apparently air in the US.

Samsung really want to gain more traction in the US market and I understand this because there’s more opportunity to make money. However they would do well to target and promote their phones heavily in Europe where they stand a real chance of increasing their market share.

Apple still sells the iPhone SE, a 2 year old phone that cost $400 2 years ago. Phones usually get a $100 discount each year at retail, so Apple is basically selling a $200 iPhone with $150 Apple tax.

Yes, they kept it around for those that didn't want to make the jump to a larger screen and countries where they can't afford typical iPhone's. It's such a small percentage of sales, I am not sure I would use that as an example to say that they are trying to compete with cheap androids.

This is true, but you can show that strength and still make a small dig at the competition without trying to make the competition look like *******s. Even that "you're a barista" crap was demeaning to Apple's users. I seriously doubt Samsung would play these kinds of ads in South Korea.

Hm I just assumed these are world wide ads.

Funnily enough Apple actually ran some UK specific versions of the I'm a Mac ads. They starred David Mitchell and Robert Webb, a couple of well known comedians/actors.

Perhaps Samsung could find "inspiration" and do the same ;)

Nah... Samsung is doing just fine. Especially since Apple is one if it's biggest customers.
[doublepost=1532120515][/doublepost]Everyone butt hurt by these ads are just mad the flaws of the iPhone are being laid bare for all to see. This is all facts, and conversations people have in the apple apple daily.

Nowhere on this page is anyone pointing out something that makes the iPhone a better product. Cuase its just not.

Only anger at how Samsung is shamming Apple. At least apple was able to buy some decent displays from Samsung for the x....but still not their best displays sigh....Maybe next year right?

That should be the apple credo. " Maybe next year!"

I'd like to see anti-ad from Apple how even samsung users uses Airpods . Oi, samsung, is XXl century, exactly, you don't need dongles - use wireless !
but of course Apple is not idiotic company no advertise pathetic adds

Apple would need to tell us what these advantages are because all they said was courage.
Not quite. Samsung is the one implying that the lack of a headphone jack is a BIG negative. Having presented that as their argument, they now have to offer proof, because it's not obvious (as, for example, a bad battery life would be). The same would be true if I said your screen name lacks a "Z" and is therefore inferior. I've stated a fact (it lacks a "Z") but it's up to me to now prove that makes it inferior. It's not up to you to prove me wrong, even if you could do so easily. I made the assertion, so I'm the one who has to put-up or shut-up.

My point being that in all of these commercials, the actors don't state these facts as plain facts. They make sure to imply that these facts are negatives and make the iPhone an inferior product. Which suggests that at least some of these facts might not be seen as negatives if they were stated plainly, without any bias.

People always compared these to the Mac vs PC ads. They are not the same, even though on the face of it they are both comparison videos. One compares two products and the other compares customers. This is along the lines of those terrible "basically" Mac genius ads Apple made back in 2012. These kinds of ads insults the customer base of the other company and implies that people are stupid and buys into a products simply because they are uninformed sheep. Some people like both brands, and they are more likely to switch around every few years, but these ads will just alienate those customers.

this ad specifically, makes fun of an Apple Genius, as well as the iPhone.
Apple Genius is an Apple product, as is the iPhone.

In that sense, this ad is the same as as the Mac vs. PC ad.

Pops was in advertising, and always said that when an ad is comparing itself to another to buy the other. The ad's manufacture is admitting the other is the best and they are trying to come up to that standard.
Pops would have known that that counts for any human behaviour. When your focus lies on the competition, you forget to aim at your own goal. When you reserve your critical awareness ro the acts of others, you lose critical self awareness and show a lack of self esteem.

I think the more pertinent question is: Will Samsung ever make as big a profit on their phones as Apple?
If one day they can innovate and not copy. If they never did until now, why would one question if one day they would... It’s a cultural thing, and therefore predictable.

Everyone here clearly forgot the "I'm a mac, I'm a pc" commercial campaign. Lol
I haven't forgotten them. And if Samsung's commercials are ever as fun and witty as those, then I'll give them the props they deserve for them. But it seems to me that they're falling down in copying those commercials just as they've always fallen down in copying Apple's phones.;)

Probably not the best argument here - Samsung is valued at over $407 billion.
Apple not long ago did the whole PC vs Mac ads, so I don't see these ads as bad, they're actually rather funny, and pretty accurate unfortunately.
I love Apple, but since SJ passed, they've made some stupid mistakes.

Samsung has got better with this kind of advertising. At first they like to make fun of customers especially the lining up on the launch day, for me that's a "no no", attacking customers will not help you bring them to your side. Attacking other products because lack of features and capabilities that's fine Apple does that all the time (so the Apple fanatics calm down it might be a butthurt for you but chill). But this adding the fun side while telling the truth without making fun on the customers, I really like it. Kudos to Samsung this time and I would love to see more in the future.

But Apple make it so easy for them with their holier than though sanctimony. Apple's way of doing business may play well to its home audiences, but meanwhile in the real world the rest of us find it excruciatingly embarrassing.
