This actually would make me want to buy an iPhone because the Apple employee is awesome. Let’s be honest he’s a solid amount of funny.
Those ads didn’t only take shots at Windows. They used the benefits of the Mac to naturally put down Windows.
Samsung just says “Apple is bad” or they list facually incorrect things about Apple products in order to coerce people into buying their latest trash phone.
Yes, you’re the perfect example of my double standard post.Oh, I read a LOT around here - it's mostly people putting words in Apple users' mouths with strawman arguments like this one.
I believe it’s fair game. But I guess it’s only ok for some people when Apple does it. It’s like they take it personal! Too funny and pretty entertainingAt that time, Apple was the underdog in the computer market. There has always been an unspoken rule in advertising that it's okay for the underdog to take shots at the big guys. I always think back to how fondly people embraced the "Where's the beef" ads from Wendy's.
If sales numbers are to be believed, Samsung sells way more phones than Apple. They are not an underdog in the smartphone market. Ads like this come off as insecure and bullying. The dongle one is actually pretty funny but overall, I think it's a bad idea.
They both bash eachother and it’s totally fine. I think it’s hilarious when Apple users take it personal, get all defensive and even go as far as to make up excuses as to why its ok for them to do it and not others!People always compared these to the Mac vs PC ads. They are not the same, even though on the face of it they are both comparison videos. One compares two products and the other compares customers. This is along the lines of those terrible "basically" Mac genius ads Apple made back in 2012. These kinds of ads insults the customer base of the other company and implies that people are stupid and buys into a products simply because they are uninformed sheep. Some people like both brands, and they are more likely to switch around every few years, but these ads will just alienate those customers.
When your main sales argument is to discredit others, it is that your company is not doing well....
I think this is incorrect. All Samsung phones are Galaxy phones. This includes series Note, S, A, J, C and probably other one I might not remember of the top of my head.Well and actually the funny part, is that even without those features, Apple still manages to sell a lot more iPhones than Samsung does Galaxy and Note combined.
Sorry my9+ doesnt over saturate. My family, most hard core iphoners agree it takes a better picture than the X. 2 words Dolby Atmos s9+ ftw!!Wait till SAMSUNG removes the headphone jack and did i mention how the S6,7,8,9 all have cameras that over saturates the colour
while the fast charging is a valid point but in my defence if you have a macbook your use of iphone will be less like for phone call, message, reminder, calender all can be done through the mac.
while this argument is valid for me most people dont use laptop
You are correctI think this is incorrect. All Samsung phones are Galaxy phones. This includes series Note, S, A, J, C and probably other one I might not remember of the top of my head.
Of course Shamesung has to get their jabs in, comparing their newest 2018 model to Apple's 2017 model while they can, because they know any arguments will fall flat when Apple ships 2018 iPhones in a couple of months.
Firstly, it was long ago. iPhone didn't exist yet which is a lifetime in the tech industry.
Secondly, those Apple ads always poked fun at Microsoft and Windows, not the PC customers. Every Samsung ad I see feels divisive and target Apple customers more than Apple or the product itself. They always feel more like a personal attack in tone than a fun observation or product comparison. But both ad campaigns reflect the underdog approach so I suppose they must also share similarities.
The reason the old I’m a pc/mac commercials worked so well was because Apple was the underdog. At least in terms of market share. Not so with Samsung phones.
I’m generally of the opinion that companies should showcase their own products. Even Apple.
These adverts are embarrassing. Why doesn't Samsung focus on showcasing their products instead of bashing the competition? Are they trying to be Microsoft or something?!
Yes. All valid arguments. No headphone jack is why my wife went with Samsung and gave up on Apple. I plan on doing the same when my iPhone dies.
Agreed, I think it's a terrible tactic myself. I guess it depends on how you are, I personally like to see a positive message that shows off the product. To just say "look, Apple removed their headphone jack" is old and tired, we get it. If they want to grab me show me features that set you apart, I'm a sucker for that stuff.Problem is, it's not really helping. They've been pushing these anti Apple ads all year and their S9 sales are doing terribly. Personally, I think they should only focus on the positive aspects of their products.
I’m snarky and smug and a decades-long Apple user, so I enjoy them. Will I actually jump ship and buy a Samsung? Probably not. But at least it makes me think about the question, which I didn’t do at any other point in time today.Samsung ads always strike me as preaching to the choir. They appeal to smug Samsung fans, who then turn the ads into talking points to take jabs at iPhone users…and we smug iPhone users are just as unswayed by the ads as the jabs.
Will the ads turn an iPhone fan into a Samsung customer? I doubt it, but that's probably not Samsung is trying to do. Will it solidify Samsung fan's opinion even further? Probably, but they were already Samsung fans. So the big question is, do these ads persuade customers without strong allegiances to become Samsung customers?
My gut says, no; snarky, smug ads appeal only to snarky, smug fans. But I could be wrong.
Many people I know have switched away from iPhones and are really happy - I was surprised actually because IOS is pretty nice to use. Five years ago it was the other way around. Last year I chose a Samsung S8 over Apple or Sony because it has a headphone jack, was far cheaper, and the battery life was rated as good/great. Best phone I've had so far, very resilient, everything works great, does everything I want. Why should I buy bluetooth headphones just because Apple says so? The ones I had already were perfectly fine. I hate constantly recharging devices. Cables are annoying and obviously people are being trained to spend their days finding new ways to recharge things. In time that will not be an issue when wireless charging becomes universalised across devices AND peripherals. I also didn't appreciate Apple's weasel words when it crippled old devices. Not quite. Samsung is the one implying that the lack of a headphone jack is a BIG negative. Having presented that as their argument, they now have to offer proof, because it's not obvious (as, for example, a bad battery life would be). The same would be true if I said your screen name lacks a "Z" and is therefore inferior. I've stated a fact (it lacks a "Z") but it's up to me to now prove that makes it inferior. It's not up to you to prove me wrong, even if you could do so easily. I made the assertion, so I'm the one who has to put-up or shut-up.
My point being that in all of these commercials, the actors don't state these facts as plain facts. They make sure to imply that these facts are negatives and make the iPhone an inferior product. Which suggests that at least some of these facts might not be seen as negatives if they were stated plainly, without any bias.
I think you're arguing semantics on the definition of the word 'underdog' and your arbitrary guideline that only companies that fit your definition of 'underdog' can run these ads.
Record profits for the quarter ending December 2017 = “not doing well”?When your main sales argument is to discredit others, it is that your company is not doing well....
Worth seeing in full, because a significant number of the messages today can be pitted against Apple. It shows how awesome Apple USED to be and how mediocre it is now when compared to its competitors.
Yes but when it's Apple doing it, it's a "genius campaign", "I love these ads", "they are sooooo right", etc.
The point of advertising is usually informative, persuasion or remind people about your brand. You're right, they are embarrassing...TO APPLE!
Isn't the point of advertising to discredit your competition? Ever watch cellular or cable or internet commercials where they bash each others performance? Do those irk you too?
Mediocre at what? Yeah, those AR emojis, slower processors, and 2D facial recognition getting fooled by pictures are just awesome!Worth seeing in full, because a significant number of the messages today can be pitted against Apple. It shows how awesome Apple USED to be and how mediocre it is now when compared to its competitors.
Yes. All valid arguments. No headphone jack is why my wife went with Samsung and gave up on Apple. I plan on doing the same when my iPhone dies.
In no way is Samsung the underdog. That’s just BS.sales numbers or not, iPhone is still king of the high end smartphone. Profits tell a better story of customers' perception (they're willing to pay a premium on the perceived better product)
Samsung is the underdog here. These ads if anything, are a complete rip off of the mac vs pc ad.
Baffling how Apple fans don't see this.
Samsung is doing a great job.
