When your main sales argument is to discredit others, it is that your company is not doing well....

“Hi, I’m a PC.” (etc.)

I guess it’s like political advertising; I’m bored of attack ads. I’d rather hear the message from each source than hear why they think the other source su

No one forgets your exploding phones, Samsung. And especially how you tried to deny it was happening and how you handled the whole thing and insulted your customers in the process.

You know Apple stopped running those ads in 2009 and has t run anything like them since.
And?

For everyone referencing Mac vs PC ads that would only be relevant if these ads were comparing Samsung phones to the rest of the industry. But they’re not, they’re just comparing to iPhone. Also Apple with the Mac, especially in 2008, was totally the underdog with single digit market share. Samsung sells more smartphones than any other manufacturer on the market. They’re not the scrappy underdog.

In no way is Samsung the underdog. That’s just BS.

"PC" in those ads was a reference to Microsoft. Is not this obvious?

There's a lesson here, MacOS still has a single digit marketshare (globally, all OS's combined), so maybe bagging your competitors isn't the best strategy...

I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC...
Wasn’t that long ago.

There was a difference. Apple pointed out why they were better by talking about their features and benefits.

Samsung seems tacky because their arguments just focus on the weaknesses of iPhone.

These adverts are embarrassing. Why doesn't Samsung focus on showcasing their products instead of bashing the competition? Are they trying to be Microsoft or something?!

You mean like this?

Nope. Samsung either infers or in the case of the fast charger, the "customer" states that the Galaxy comes with the fast charger. Pretty much the same approach in pointing of the weakness of the competition using humor. They make some good points. Step it up, Apple!

That was the point. iPhone's weakness is Samsung's strength. The unbiased customer would easily see this. Not unusual for a competitor to go after their competition.

Ok, so there’s a right way and a wrong way to put your competition down in the game of business? SURE! Double standard much? It’s so funny how everyone tries to justify Apple. I’m calling you all the “Double Dongle Team” from now on!

I remember one of the ads being a wireless router that PC just couldn't understand. I thought most were clever and funny but that one just... didn't make sense. I ahve never met a wireless router that I just couldn't connect to on either platform.

The way I see it is both companies were using tactics they felt worked at the time, for them. And neither really feels classy or classless to me. It's just an ad meant to get people thinking about the product in comparison to another popular product.

At the end of the day, we have this same discussion every time one of these ads drop. I am an Apple user, never owned a samsung smartphone (despite thinking they are quite nice looking, generally), but I am not bothered by this. It is what it is. I do miss the headphones jack on my X, despite everyone telling me I wouldn't. Still cant find running bluetooth buds I am happy with; closest I got was jaybird run, but one of them stopped working, then a replacement came apart while in my ear, and my third set starts slipping out after about half an hour of sweating.

PS y'all worried samsung isn't classy should see Wendy's (fast food) on twitter. They're a riot. And much less tame.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!! These are FANTASTIC! Remember Apple vs PCs? How stupid Microsoft became and how Apple just rolled over them? Samsung is using Apple's old tactics now that Apple has become the new Microsoft.

Dongles? Tim.. can swallow all the dongles he wants for all I care about.. And the fast charger!!! SO ON POINT!!!

What is embarrassing are those who can't see where Apple is failing. But guys, don't worry.. You may not like dongles, nor like the fact that fasters chargers don't come with the flag ship product.. but SHARES are Up! So you all just accept what Tim and Siri (if siri is working) tells you!

Yes and those weaknesses are strengths of the S9 in this add series. Also people are acting like these are the only adverts Samsung make. They do make adverts only focusing on their phones with no mention of the iPhone.

There’s the Apple way. Which is the only way ;)

Not quite. Samsung is the one implying that the lack of a headphone jack is a BIG negative. Having presented that as their argument, they now have to offer proof, because it's not obvious (as, for example, a bad battery life would be). The same would be true if I said your screen name lacks a "Z" and is therefore inferior. I've stated a fact (it lacks a "Z") but it's up to me to now prove that makes it inferior. It's not up to you to prove me wrong, even if you could do so easily. I made the assertion, so I'm the one who has to put-up or shut-up.

My point being that in all of these commercials, the actors don't state these facts as plain facts. They make sure to imply that these facts are negatives and make the iPhone an inferior product. Which suggests that at least some of these facts might not be seen as negatives if they were stated plainly, without any bias.
I don’t think Samsung have to explain why a headphone jack is a positive. This isn’t a new feature that nobody knows about and needs to be explained. We all know what a headphone jack does. Also the word proof is just wrong. This is not something which can be measured objectively. It’s a feature on a smartphone, a subjective one. I could find 100 people who favour the headphone jack and 100 who don’t care about it.

Samsung don’t have to explain why retaining a headphone jack is a positive. We all know what a headphone jack does. I think even in the video they provided some reasons why a headphone might be more advantageous for some people. Next you’re going to say Samsung have to prove why having a fast charger in the box is a positive.

Never understood the immediate jump to "antiquated" for the headphone jack. It's simple, universal, works, doesn't need batteries or charging, inexpensive, robust...Don't care what the hive mind lords say, this was not courageous or smart. I'm hoping they refresh an SE version with the jack.
This isn't a justification, but I think people look at how long the standard has been around and largely unchanged and then they look at technology and how fast it typically evolves and they use the term, for lack of better words.

My walkman in the 80s had this same technology! Preposterous. Wait until they learn that theres a battery in their iPhone... And yes, that's a bit tongue in cheek, battery tech is a bit different today than it was 30 years ago, but no so different than it was a decade ago, in comparison to just about evetyhing else in our smartphones.

I am also waiting for the outrage on wall outlets. Moreover that there isn;t a global standard. They've been this way for longer than I have been alive. Such an antiquated way of delivering electricity. Seems nobody noticed. :(

I gave my son my old ip7+, and he HATES it because of the dongle issue. Plus my wife is upset with her MacBook; again the dongle. We spent two hours late in NYC hunting down a dongle for my son. The dongles are STUPID and show Apple's arrogance.
To be fair, losing the dongle that came in the box isn’t Apple’s fault. If your son lost his iPhone, would he also blame Apple? Also, people who buy (or inherit) a phone with no analog headphone port know that the dongle is required to listen with traditional headphones, so should be careful not to lose the dongle. I understand it’s small, but then so are microSD memory cards which are also carried around, but people seem to keep safe.

Micro SD cards are usually kept inside the phone/tablet.

I have two dongles and I know where both of them are but I understand that some people might loose them.

Well and actually the funny part, is that even without those features, Apple still manages to sell a lot more iPhones than Samsung does Galaxy and Note combined.

but Apple is not about sales, is about customer satisfaction.
[doublepost=1532161401][/doublepost]Apple is like those video games with DLCs. You get the basic experience but...

You want unlock fast charge Level 1 on your phone.. buy another charger.
You want to unlock fast charge Level 2... boy a another cable for the charger.
You want to unlock wired headphones while charging... buy a dongle.
You want to unlock connecting you phone to you car radio that has no Bluetooth... buy another radio, or buy another car or buy the above dongle.
You want to unlock better pictures... buy another phone.
You want to unlock performance after an upgrade... buy the new iPhone, or enter recently discovered by the community secret code REPLACE-BATTERY
Want to unlock laptop connectivity... buy more dongles.
Want to unlock i9 processor... buy a fridge.

Worth seeing in full, because a significant number of the messages today can be pitted against Apple. It shows how awesome Apple USED to be and how mediocre it is now when compared to its competitors.
Indeed the old Apple (Steve Jobs) and the new Apple (Tim Cook) are entirely different as are the products and the quality thereof. My PowerMac G4 MDD and Aluminium PowerBook G4 are still working perfectly.
Judging by the design it is highly unlikely the latest MacBook Pro will have such longevity due to highly compact design. It is both ridiculous and detrimental to the environment that if the keyboard fails then the whole top of the unit needs replacing
