These adverts are embarrassing. Why doesn't Samsung focus on showcasing their products instead of bashing the competition? Are they trying to be Microsoft or something?!
It’s cause they’re insecure.

I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC...
Wasn’t that long ago.
Those days seemed to ring more truth though. Apple was then the new cool kid on the block, pc was still the nerd.

Haha people still mocking the headphone jack?? Never looked back after my Airpods. Feels good to be a part of what’s ahead and not behind.
You didn’t need Apple to take away the headphone jack to use airpods. Wireless headphones still work with phones that have a headphone jack. So you could still have been part of ‘the future’ with a phone that still has a headphone jack.

Have you never experienced the convenience of good bluetooth headphones? I have not used the headphone jack on my 6S for months.
It is true there are some High Quality Bluetooth Headphones available but usually they come at a premium price compared to the wired versions with the sound being of comparable quality

Therefore given the huge price difference it is unreasonable for Apple to remove the Headphone Jack as the iPhone consumer no longer has the choice.

Pretty obvious statement there brthr but no worries...the point Apple is trying to make is to push things along by removing it. Otherwise it takes 5 times as long to move a widely adopted “anything”. I mean how long has usb-c been available and people are still making that crappy I/O usb-a? Apple’s keynote when they announced the change gave all their reasons for removing it and I think they’re all valid and honest reasons. Just my opinion is all. Any space in these skinny phones these days is prime real estate for other more appropriate tech. It’s still a transition period some day fairly soon enough most all people will have wireless everything and we’ll all laugh at when we had to deal with the inconvenience of cords.

I personally don’t care about the headphone jack and like you am happy using my airpods. However I don’t buy the making space argument because Samsung have been able to keep the headphone jack and still have thin phones, with even better water resistance.

I do agree it will push things along but I’m not sure it was necessary at this point in time and I understand why some people aren’t happy about it. A bit like removing the optical drive on macs. Was a bit too early when they did it. Same with the ports on MacBooks. Most people aren’t ready for it.

Ask Samsung about the S9+ limit on 4k 60fps recording. Phone overheats after about 3 minutes of recording.

Why would I care about fast charging as the 8+ and iPhone X provide all day battery life so no need for top ups, unlike my colleagues Galaxy S8 that he has plugged in all day and still has less battery left when he heads home. He constantly complains that is pisses battery away all day if he has WhatsApp running.

They can spend all this money on crap ads as they save all their money by not having to do any R&D
Samsung spend more money on R&D than Apple.
Apple would rather let other companies do all the ground work and only invest in a technology once it’s matured or better still just buy a smaller company that has already developed the tech. Siri, Touch ID, Face ID.

When Apple ran the Mac-vs-PC ads from 2006 to 2009... they were in a bad place. Single digit market share and very low sales of Macintosh. They were in a weak position.

So what does this say about Samsung... the current and long-time leader in smartphone sales? Are they actually admitting that they're not doing so well after all?

I understand what Apple was doing back then. But I guess I don't understand what Samsung's play is here. (unless they are actually scared of Apple)

........ the headphone jack is antiquated anyway and the future is wireless, I still don't understand why this is a big deal.[/QUOTE]

Why do recording studios kitted out with all the latest, expensive, high end audio equipment use "antiquated" headphones??????

The camera doesn't matter to me anyway since important pictures will be taken with my DSLR. It would be nice to have a fast charger but that won't be a make or break decision in deciding which phone I will buy. Now here is where Apple will take the hit, and deservingly so, is no headphone jack. It is an inconvenience having to share the same port when you want to listen to music and having the need to charge the battery at the same time. Not everyone can or want to make another purchase for wireless headphones so Apple should have taken this into consideration but then again, Apple only sees this as an opportunity to make more money. Apple should bring it back in future iPhones.

To be fair, those are two very valid complaints about the iPhone X. Let's hope at least the fast charger is included in this years iPhone.

Yes, and I like these ads very much. It helps to keep Apple honest, and bring more competition to Apple. I cant believe I am thinking like this, but Samsung is possibly the best frienemy Apple needs.

It means Apple needs to push their 5G Network baseband or 4G Tech faster, without relying on Qualcomm.

It means Apple will need to work more on their current Dongle mess. Not just sit there passively waiting years for the problem to solve itself.

It means Apple needs quick charge, or an explanation of WHY they don't have quick charge yet, when their competitor has had it for years, and no Apple media has ever came out with some explanation.

Samsung is obsessed with Apple. There’s no other explanation.
Obviously Apple are the industry leaders and Samsung are obsessed with emulating Apple. Which makes sense from a financial stand point. Who wouldn’t want to make the money Apple make.

Firstly, it was long ago. iPhone didn't exist yet which is a lifetime in the tech industry.

Secondly, those Apple ads always poked fun at Microsoft and Windows, not the PC customers. Every Samsung ad I see feels divisive and target Apple customers more than Apple or the product itself. They always feel more like a personal attack in tone than a fun observation or product comparison. But both ad campaigns reflect the underdog approach so I suppose they must also share similarities.
These adverts aren't mocking the customers. They are showing them as people aware of what they want. The ad mocks Apple. In fact, any company that names a sales assistant" a "genius" deserves to be mocked.

I gave my son my old ip7+, and he HATES it because of the dongle issue. Plus my wife is upset with her MacBook; again the dongle. We spent two hours late in NYC hunting down a dongle for my son. The dongles are STUPID and show Apple's arrogance.
My teen kid has a i7 and doesn't like it when you can only listen to music or charge the phone. Plus, I have found the dongle in various places where it would be difficult to find and I know it will just be a matter of time before I have to buy a new one to replace due to loss or wear and tear. For those who say wireless is the future, that's fine for working adults who have the money and willing to spend but when you have teens and young adults in college that is another story.

If you're going to make the quality argument, then you can't possibly be serious about implying that you're going to get high quality audio from a phone.
But they can use the same high quality headphones with high end audio gear and a phone when needed. That is what I call convenience.

Geniuses aren’t sales assistants they help you with problems you have with devices you already own. Their job is to fix things not to sell you something.

However I agree with your first point. The customer in these ads are knowledgable and know what they want and can’t be fobbed off by the Genius.

You always have a choice. You don’t have to buy anything Apple makes if it doesn’t meet your needs. Obviously, there’s plenty of competition in the smartphone space.

These are fair criticisms. Apple was too early in eliminating the headphone jack. Wireless headphones are still pretty crappy, and most people carry wired headphones when travelling.
I have been browsing around and checking out the wireless headphones. Those that I have seen would require you to send it back to the manufacturer should the battery no longer charge, especially the earbuds-type. If the manufacturer sold the replacement batteries for over-the-headphones where you can change them out yourself, then I would more likely consider buying it. When traveling, wired headphones are easier to stow away and don't take up much room.

Sorry my error. I meant to say simply shop assistant. And the point is still valid. These "knowledgeable" people were advising customers to get a new phone rather than a new battery. Genius, I think not.

Of course but the lack of Headphone Jack quite possibly is the deal breaker for some and the consumer who would have otherwise preferred the iPhone has been forced to go elsewhere not just to a different phone but platform as well due to Apple shortsightedness.

Audiophiles will say analog sound to superior to digital but that is another story and debate. You can get high quality audio if you copied the cd at a higher bit rate in iTunes. I don't see why the audio quality would be any lower in the iPhone than from an iPod. As long as the music was recorded in high quality, the rest will vary in the headphones and yes you can hear the differences.
