Totally agree but I have observed a difference too. I have many friends and family, some with Samsung and some iPhone. The iPhone users are generally unaware of any rivalry and just go about their daily business. But every Samsung user seems to have a chip on their shoulder so every time they get a new phone, they have to show every iPhone user how great their camera is or how much better their Samsung phone looks.

I think ads like these have helped to create such attitudes. Also look at the Apple ads and how their customers also seem to parallel the attitudes expressed in those commercials.
And I thought Apple fans buy iPhones to show them how a league apart they are from the common man. Numerous posts on this web site has pointed in the direction that poor people buy Android.

The problem with Samsung is that Samsung devices break, perhaps just like Apple devices, but Apple provides me a good support.
True, because in Apple world replacing a defective part with another defective part 2-3 years after the product started having problems is considered a good service.

I completely agree for the sentiment. Just forget the rivalry and enjoy the ad for what it is. It's not a preaching ad like Apple puts out.. only ad from Apple I like is the face id one.. the music and the subtle idea is awesome!

I think this is fair. It just goes to show you that both Samsung and Apple have their own various types of marketing. Samsung being _very_ aggressive as of late with the iPhone and other intricacies about The throttling, water resistance and 3.5 Jack. Apple places a-lot of emphasis with the iPhone in terms of how good the camera is, augmented reality, Animoji’s, Face ID, ect.

I have said it before, in the end, the user chooses the ecosystem in terms of what they want from the operating platform, either android or iOS. Hardware is superficial that eventually wears off.

I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC...
Wasn’t that long ago.
Exactly. At the time, Apple's market share hardly showed up on a pie chart. And, to Apple's credit, at least those ads were actually funny and explicitly showcased the benefits of the "Mac" alongside the competitor. REAL benefits, too, like a system that isn't nearly as virus-prone, and no blue screen of death. Comparing those two sets of ads on anything but surface-level is silly.
These Samsung ads are just nauseating. I do not care about fast charging because I am never running out of battery, even as a power user (thank you iPhoneX), I haven't used wired headphones with my phone in years, and the camera score is 97 vs. 99... Seriously. Thank you for the definition of asinine, Samsung.

While it may appear to be a similar campaign, Apple adverts talk about how much better a Mac is/was than a PC. They showcased features of the Mac, hell the Mac was at least mentioned.

These ads, just bash. I would think that makes a difference
The only difference is that those were Apple making fun of competition, and these are competition making fun of Apple which is why most of people here don't see them as same

The first two ads are factual while the 3rd made me LOL.

Somewhere out there someone will say dongles are a good thing since it's more profitable.

Those ads are full of Mac pointing out what it does, not just bashing PC. And the focus was not on minor PC issues. Fast charger and support for a soon to be completely outdated analog port are not the same as viruses, spyware, etc... Completely different types of ads. So not blinded, seems like you might have a little blind hate going on if you can't easily recognize the difference.

Nope. Have you seen the Mac vs PC ads? Perhaps you need to head to Youtube to refresh your memory. There was plenty of PC bashing going on.

No one forgets your exploding phones, Samsung. And especially how you tried to deny it was happening and how you handled the whole thing and insulted your customers in the process.
Lol. Much like Apple did with their butterfly keyboards, sneakily installing software to slow down iphones etc etc

Selective memory much?

These are hysterical. Of course not really fair as these things are all very trivial differences (except for the headphone jack, you will need a dongle). But the cameras are both great and basically equally good. The fast charging is meaningless as the X has great battery life and charges plenty fast.

Yes but when it's Apple doing it, it's a "genius campaign", "I love these ads", "they are sooooo right", etc.

Oh here we go again with the “sooo it’s ok when Apple does it?” snark.

Firstly, Apple was truly the underdog when those ads launched. They had single digit market share in their primary product line. There’s a reason why these ads were retired when they did. Because Apple was no longer the underdog.

Secondly, those ads were much more playful and tastefully done. The competitor (PC) was actually the loveable and memorable character. There’s a reason this campaign won numerous awards. Because execution matters more than anything.

Samsung’s ads on the other hand are not tasteful, not playful, and Samsung is in no way shape or form the underdog. Depending on who you ask, they are actually the handset market LEADER. These ads just come off bitter, obnoxious, smug, and aggressive. Like they have a personal axe to grind with Apple and anyone who dare use Apple products (despite their obvious obsession with Apple).

Mac/PC were like the odd couple. While Samsung’s ads are just internet trolling in the form of advertising. Kind of like the Sega campaigns against Nintendo, it just breeds tribalism and divisiveness.

It’s a really tacky look for Samsung.

Everyone: Samsung...stop. Stop, Samsung. Will you stop, Samsung? Samsung, stop. It's time to stop Samsung. Please stop, Samsung. Samsung, you have to stop. Samsung, stop now.

*Samsung releases new "Ingenius" ad mocking the iPhone X's thick bezels*

Transcript

Apple customer: "Oh so the iPhone is suppose to have this really gorgeous bezel-free display, right? How come the Galaxy S9's screen bezels look thinner?"

Apple Genius: "Oh, that's because Jony Ive decided to make the borders thicker so you know...you can buy the next iPhone which will have slimmer bezels."

Apple customer: "So I guess I should just get an S9 instead because it is already better than the next new iPhone...?"

Apple Genius: "Oh look, here's an iPod, it's really revolutionary."

*"Switch to Galaxy" music plays*
If you really believe that the quality of a phone is purely inversely proportional to the thickness of its bezels, please, please go and get yourself a bezel-free phone and have yourself a good ol’ time.

What I'm saying is I think this is ineffective at changing the "mindset" of the average iPhone user. Fast charging and using an adapter aren't big enough issues generally speaking. In fact this dumb ad even points out you get the dongle free in the box. I think the majority of people latching on to the horrible burden of using a tiny extra piece of wire at the end of your headphone wire are people who already own Samsung devices and hate Apple. This ad does more to retain those people than it would to make someone switch. And they call the iPhone "ten" in the ad, and the apple logo is only on the guys shirt. How many, non-tech people are even going to realize what they are referring to?
I personally don’t care about the headphone jack but there have been posters on this forum who said they either switched to android because of the headphone jack or are holding onto older iPhones and refusing to upgrade.

I can see samsung making fun of apple in other area, such as keyboard issue.

Samsung ad “opps...typo....aain.”

The S9 was mentioned in these ads...

This is just like Chevy jabbing Ford because Ford uses an aluminum bed on the F-150. Chevy will be using an aluminum bed soon.

Samsung will drop the 3.5mm jack sooner than later as well.

Actually your analogy would be if Google and Samsung were sparing over phones; Apple would be Honda in that story, dropping in with a composite bed, blowing them both away.
