I personally don’t care about the headphone jack but there have been posters on this forum who said they either switched to android because of the headphone jack or are holding onto older iPhones and refusing to upgrade.
Exactly, tech people. I'm talking about the general masses

I've been an avid 'Fanboy' of Apple since the Quadra 660 back in 1994...
Typing this on a MBP...
(because of 'eco-system concerns' for an Apple boy) I stuck with Android until the Galaxy S7 screwed me big time last November with a screen death.. It screwed my whole life for 10-45 days trying to figure out how to retrieve it (Data Retrieval didn't really happen from Samsung's end, but Google played out enough).
So I bought the iPhone 7 (just as the 8 was released and with intention).
So as an iPhone owner for 8 months, what can I say?

I'm already looking back to Samsung. The whole show. S9+/ The Gear3 (or Gear4 come August)

Something, just 8 months ago I would have thought impossible.

I love my Apple laptop and desktop... less so with every MacOS incarnation, but still....

As someone who is a Mac 'Fan boy' and was an Android user (maybe until next week or so)..

The iPhone is an utterly terrible phone after 8 months of use. It simply sucks if you live in 2018.
It simply can't do anything.
I was never tethered to my laptop so much in the ways I've experienced since last November/ December.
Even iTunes transfers suck.. and Kies was the worst.

If Samsungs features were in an Apple device, I can only imagine how arrogant the arguments to this post would be.

Sadly, this is not so. Samsung has the better phone. This is not 'ego' or 'brand ambassadorment', it just is better.

I don't see how these ads will drive Apple users to Samsung, which is ultimately what they want. Individual features aren't going to push anyone from one platform to another. Features have become somewhat frivolous to me when it comes to tech products. I used to love tinkering with settings, jailbreaking, customizing, that sort of thing. Maybe it's my age, but I have almost completely stopped caring about one feature to the next. I look at the whole platform, I want products that will work for my needs and require minimal upkeep. I still haven't found a better overall platform than Apple when it comes to the things that matter to me - performance, security, privacy, ecosystem, apps, and support. For me, and I am assuming this is where smartphones will go, those are the things Samsung should be focusing on if they want to improve their sales.

Nope. Have you seen the Mac vs PC ads? Perhaps you need to head to Youtube to refresh your memory. There was plenty of PC bashing going on.
Yep. If you read my original post carefully I said they were not "just" bashing PC. They were bashing PC to little bits, but they were also pointing out pretty valid Mac strengths. Those Mac vs PC ads are being compared to these Samsung ads by the haters here as the same thing. Samsung is failing to showcase any real strength of their product here. Just bashing.

Galaxy S9 sales must be really poor if Samsung reached this level of desperation.

I wouldn't say this is a waste of time or resources unless of course you believe in hiding the facts ;)
Facts presented with a bias spin aren't quite as factual as you're arguing; nor are arguments against them always about hiding facts. I can say "Lil' Kim is short and petite," (she's 4'11") and that would be a fact, and I might say, "LeBron James is very large." Also a fact. But if I say, "Lil' Kim's short and petite, not lumbering and big like LeBron James" then I'm putting bias spin on those facts.

Likewise here. Yes, there's no headphone jack on the iPhone X. But is (as implied) this lack of a headphone jack reason enough to buy a Samsung over an iPhone? Doesn't removing the jack give the iPhone X some advantages in what it can do? Aren't wireless headphones becoming more popular, making such jacks superfluous, especially if the space phone jacks require could be better used by smartphones? Why aren't these facts being stated (especially if Samsung might soon remove their jacks)...unless it's Samsung who believes in hiding the facts?

They're listing facts about the iPhone and presenting them as damaging...and THAT, arguably, may not be a fact. ;)

It doesn’t at all. Are we now going to say that Samsung copies the iPhone X’s design with their infinity display!!!
When did samsung stopped using battery replacement? I don’t care about x phone. I’m talking in general like previous generations. Rectangular like shape and all that. Now there are rumors that samsung wants multiple back camera lens.

They are. Apparently this is the first year where Q2 sales were worse than Q1. They need to try something different and are getting a little desperate. From sammobile.com...

"A new report from Samsung’s home country is joining the chorus now. According to a report in The Bell, the Galaxy S9 sales in the second quarter were less than what Samsung sold in the first quarter of 2018. The Korean company reportedly sold 9 million units of Galaxy S9/S9+ in Q2 2018, down from the 10.2 million units it sold in the first quarter. Even the combined sales of the first two quarters dropped from 21.2 million units of Galaxy S8 in 2017 to 19.2 million units of Galaxy S9 this year. It appears Samsung’s aggressive marketing didn’t have much of an impact in convincing customers to buy the top-end Galaxy models."

If you don’t understand it then you will never understand it. You, like most people value convenience over quality. The headphone jack actually is not antiquated. All high end head-fi are still wired. That is not going to change anytime soon. And no, beats, AirPods and Bose are not hifi.
I get it, but don't just say this is the only reason why to switch phones. How much time are you spending a day in an environment where you can listen and obtain maximum quality using your super duper headphones with your iphone.

The camera on the X freakin sucks. Sometimes I lament losing a year of pictures of my family, because some of the pictures came out so badly, and the rest are mediocre. This is in 5 different phones, 2 of mine and 3 family members who all compared.

No fast charging sucks as often I am able to get a few minutes of charging here and there during the day and it would be nice to have.

No headphone jack, meh I could care less as I only use BT headphones. If it affects water resistance or they can put something more useful in that space then I'm all for getting rid of it, but otherwise I don't see any good reason to nix it.

But honestly I see very few things that would entice me to Android these days. Not too long ago I could have listed a long list of things that kept me on Android, but that list has diminished quite rapidly these last couple of years. With the almost daily Google/Android/Samsung privacy debacles we have I'm that much more happy on the iOS side.

These commercials are annoying though, similar to political ads which instead of saying why I should vote for someone, tell me why I shouldn't vote for the opponent. Enough. Advertise on your own merits and stop being petty and making the other company look bad. It was bad enough when Apple did it with the supremely stupid Mac vs. PC ads back in the day.

Some Valid points indeed... Come on Apple.

I think they are valid points, but I am not a fan of Samsung products, and am definitely not paid by Samsung.

The only two Samsung products that I own IIRC is a 51" Plasma, that is currently sitting in my basement with a blown power supply, and an external Blu-ray disk drive for my iMac. So, hardly a fan of Samsung, but the points they make are valid.

Eh, instead of wasting time on these ads Samsung should focus on their own phone. This reminds me of those cringey "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" advertisements of not too long ago. I use and love both devices but it's definitely up to personal taste; preference for the OS being the big one.

Sidenote: Galaxy S9 is a beast of a phone. It's like having a personal computer in your pocket BUT I recognize that not everyone wants that.

About half of the Android devices I own or have owned are Samsung, including a current Galaxy Tab I use for making software changes to my car. I generally swap out devices often to upgrade or try something new.

However, I have no idea what Samsung phones of the last few years are capable of because of the direction they’ve chosen to take with their commercials. It reminds me of the car commercials where rival manufacturers boast why their model is better than a comparable or better than Honda or Toyota.

I know Samsung makes good phones, but their advertising approach comes off to me as childish and desperate.

That’s not the worst of it.

Apple Takes U.S. Market Share From Samsung

“CIRP said that Apple's share of U.S. mobile phone activations grew year over year and that gain came "in part at Samsung's expense." Samsung's U.S. mobile phone activation share declined both sequentially as well as year over year.”

Guess all those reports about poor iPhone X sales were overblown.
