Picking up a Samsung is like driving a modern Kia - you're kind of impressed, it doesn't totally suck, a few things are nice and the price is right.

But it's not a Merc.

I drive a Mercury, what so special about an obsolete car brand? Do you want to but mine at Apple prices?

Rubbish. It’s all due to sales of the iP6 and only the iP6.

Couldn't you even read properly a diagram? Samsung's drop started in Sept 2013, and last time I checked the iPhone 6 sales started on Sept 2014 dude

On a side note, you were very active in the "bashing the iPhone 6 over the bend BS" thread and now you are here taking your side as a Samsung supporter.... Do your math....

I think this has little to do with "attacking" apple.

It is big part of the loss for the whole SAMSUNG group.

What most people do not know is 7% of the iPhone is made by SAMSUNG. even more before. This mainly the CPU and memory. What Apple has been doing lately is lowering the orders to SAMSUNG on all levels. That is less screens and less memory and in the latest iPhone there is no SAMSUNG to be spotted even though they have an order to co produce with TMSC, but surly it is no more the only supplier of CPUs. They do the same thing for screens of iPads and MACs. Apple is one of the biggest customer of SAMSUNG parts and upsetting them is not a good idea. Especially that other companies, with the help of Apple cash, are ready to take the orders with the price that Apple dictates example of that sharp.

The iPhone 6 effect is not yet felt but it is definitely a bad news in a rather very bad time.

It's natural for people to react this way, Samsung took plenty of shots against Apple's customers base, they mocked, made fun and tried to hit on every nerve so it is fun to watch them fail although they are far from being close to doomed and they will probably bounce back on their next release cycle but it's good that Apple contributed in causing this drop by honest competition, something Samsung failed to accomplish with all the bad ads they made yet Apple stood solid and now it's Apple having the last laugh.

I own a Samsung TV and it has served me well. However, I will never again buy a Samsung products. I first was uncomfortable about their slavish copying of other company's products. But once the began insulting me personally (I was second in line for the original iPhone) they said they didn't want me as a customer.

I won't use Sprint either but that is another rant.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 801?

How effed up are Samsung's Exynos chips that they don't use them in their flagship phones, outside of Korea and Japan:

SIII: Snapdragon S4
S4: Snapdragon 600
S5: Snapdragon 801
Note 3: Snapdragon 800
Note 4: Snapdragon 805
Alpha: Snapdragon 801

Outside of that, it's an iPhone 5 knockoff, but with a flimsy plastic back:

Yep. The backplate off the Alpha is even worse than the already cheap looking backplate off the S5.......

My 16 year old niece was less excited meeting Katy Perry than the fanboys are over this click bait story.

Please explain how this article or it's headline is "clickbait." The headline describes the article accurately and the content of the article is informative.

People through around the term clickbait rather loosely.

NOT because Apple have just in the past couple of weeks launched a large screen model.
Anecdotally, I have heard from dozens of Android users that they were waiting to see what Apple was going to do before their next purchase. Most of them had Samsung products. From that experience, I believe that Samsung was hurt at the high end by the iPhone 6 long before its announcement or release.

Stupid Moronic Headline.

Yes, Samsung profits fall, good quality low priced models coming up.

NOT because Apple have just in the past couple of weeks launched a large screen model.

Sheesh.

Learn to look a diagram.... The drop started one year before iPhone 6 presentation....

----------

I think that should be directed at you as you clearly did not read the original post. Otherwise you would have seen this will be the fourth consecutive quarter that profits have dropped......

Supporters in denial... :D

How so? You want Apple to have its competitors die off? I don't know about you but I'd rather have Apple be challenged by competitors; it will force Apple to innovate further as opposed to resting on their laurels.
Apple will never rest. They will constantly innovate no matter who/what the competition. It's in their DNA. And I don't see Samsung remaining still either. I wouldn't worry about Samsung, they were doing fine before they started in the phone market.

No premium price.

Check the total cost of owning either an iPhone or a top class Android, Windows, etc.

The phones come out about par - the telecom companies give you an illusion. They are the ones who are ripping off the customers, esp., in the USA.

I wish I could rec this a thousand times.

Cost of the device is minimal relative to the total cost of service. And like you said, the telecom oligopoly has virtually free reign in the US. Americans put up with rapacious fees for stingy bandwidth allowances. It's nuts.

Apple always innovated even when it was the only power in the game. Your reasoning is valid for other company, Apple probably is one of the few company to have innovation and other good thing in their DNA. It is one of the very few company to have a DNA at all.

Apples Shadow

Samsung profit tumbles stock goes up 2%.
Apple profit record high, tumbles 2%.

What makes all the difference though is the starting point and Samsung is WAAAY down there covered by apples shadow!

Polycarbonate is one of the most resilient plastics on the planet. They make flak jackets and bullet-proof vests out of it because it doesn't break.

Aluminum, on the other hand, is used to make soda cans.

But hey, if Apple says metal is better then it must be true. Just be careful putting it in your pocket, it might bend.
There are many types of plastic and many of aluminum....

I don't think Apple fans want the competition to die. But honestly, how is Samsung challenging Apple? Making a bigger phone is not necessarily a "challenge". Android is pushing Apple, not Samsung.

What I want from my competition is someone who pushes me to be better. Not someone who is sitting in the corner mocking every move I make like a kid at the playground.

Samsung will never stop making phones, just to spite you.

But honestly, without Samsung, you wouldn't have the iPhone as it is today. For the longest time, Samsung built over 50% of the parts inside the iPhone, and Apple depended on them.

Count your blessings. :apple:
Ahahah Samsung lovers living in a parallel dimension :D
Without Samsung you wouldn't have the iPhone as it's today.... Best joke of the year

That's smart. It enables him to grow intimately familiar with Apple's strengths and weaknesses, so he knows exactly what to copy and what to improve.

In the words of Sun Tzu:

thats not the impression when i got when i read the article, since he hates to transfer his iphone data to samsung's every morning when he is in his office.

Nope, I'm a fanboy of technology, I support both sides. Check out my sig.

----------

right now nvidia sued samsung and qualcomm

I must say that the last couple of Samsung ads I've seen were not attacks on Apple, but actually ads that highlighted the capability of their own products.

Actually most of them are.

The 'make fun of'-ads are merely internet-fodder via YouTube to get attention, they are rarely used in real large scale advertising like TV-spots. Strangely those are the only Samsung commercials a lot of people around here have seen, even though most of them have never made their way to prime time.
