How so? You want Apple to have its competitors die off? I don't know about you but I'd rather have Apple be challenged by competitors; it will force Apple to innovate further as opposed to resting on their laurels.

I'd rather have any other company be the competitor for Apple. Samesung is garbage and I hope they die off.

Free just gets them into the system. Once they are in that is when you have to hook em. Like I said, it is a process and long term.

Windows Phone OS is actully pretty good, while not IOS (IMHO), it is on par with android.

That's the mainstream answer, but what product in the last 20 years has succeeded with that model. Competitors are too savvy and consumers too fickle. That model is why Apple makes big profits and the rest of the industry loses money.

I'm amused at the rage of the Apple users in this thread. Kool aid, cults, sheep, It's amusing how angry they are :D

It's not really rage; it's venom in celebrating the downfall of a rival.

I don't remember any negative Apple ads, but maybe I missed them.

I think it mostly comes because of the tone of Samsung's negative ads against Apple.

And biting the hand that fed them; since when do you kick one of your biggest customers in the shins? Not too smart.

It's human nature to take pleasure in seeing arrogance go for a fall. Samsung made its own bed and now it has to sleep in it.

Yep, and even the same aluminum alloy could be used to create a more structurally sound iPhone.

I still favor a steel chassis design. Mobile devices go with us everywhere, so they need to be strong and tough. It's disheartening to see each new iPhone generation grow more delicate than the last.

I actually don't care about how delicate my iPhone is, since I'm going to be careful in using it.
I don't think the aluminum is absolutely needed, I'm fine with my plastic Lumia as well, but Samsung build quality is utterly ridiculous.

Android.

that is nature of technology. No need to predict. it happened to Ford, MS, Sony, etc. it is up to apple to innovate new products that can change how people use technology.

And thats what apple have being doing since Steve Jobs found Apple. Is to change the way people use technology, thats one of the fundamentals that made Apple so successful. for example i remember when i use to rock my walkman back in the day and carry around a case with 5 or so CD's. And then here comes apple with the iPod, what the hell is this? a little pocket device that can hold up to a 1000 songs!!! guest what? i got one the very first day it was available. And then there was no more walkman. ever since then it was all Apple products for me. So i don't think Apple will have any problems in that Area on changing the way people use technology they have been so for years.

I've picked up a windows phone in a store, but haven't used one in the real world. The metro interface with tiles seems weird to me, I'll have to use it longer to get used to it both on phone and pc :)

Goodnight Samsung Mobile.

May the rest of the company have mercy on your inability to function. :apple:

I've always said, "watch out for WIN Phone." The WIN10 Phone could be big,
as Windows 10 is mostly Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with Metro. 7 Pro 64bit was the only WIN OS I actually liked (a bit.) :apple:

You are talking about PCs! Sure.
Which is why Apple computers are loved by the businesses that need the speed and capacity for their computing needs!

We would not use Macs were I work. They're too expensive, they're too hardware limited, they're too hard to fix, there is no public future hardware/software plan and they don't run the right software for what we do.

I'm on my Mac at home all the time but at work it's Windows 7 all the way.

At last! It's finally forcing Samsung to put some effort into rethinking their handsets. The new Note is a reaction to this : gone is the cheap faux metal crap. This slowdown in sales will kick them in the butt and this will give better phones to consumers.
It's good to see better Samsung phones, because even though their UIs and materials were always crap, they still had the best cameras in the Android space.

So they'd have the same they have now, only without "some of their highs".
Hopefully you'll never make it to a deciding position in any company...
Unbelievable how far this blind apple love can go
They would have a much larger share of the very lucrative Apple component business -- Once Samsung started copying, Apple started diversifying away from Samsung. The lost business is worth billions of dollars.

Apple always innovated even when it was the only power in the game. Your reasoning is valid for other company, Apple probably is one of the few company to have innovation and other good thing in their DNA. It is one of the very few company to have a DNA at all.

Oh, yes, I'm sure you would be able to buy a 5.5" iPhone, just as many many thousands/millions of people have, if Apple was the only one company making Smart Phones.

Yes, sure :D

I don't remember any negative Apple ads, but maybe I missed them.

Yes, Apple made 66 negative adverts over a span of 4 years when they were the underdog against the PC.

Of course, Apple fans refuse to see these as negative, saying they were fun and just pointing out how Apple was better.

Must like the Samsung Ads are fun and pointing out how Samsung is better on the points in their adverts also.

Again, of course, people choose to dislike those ads that are negative towards the brand they like.

Still, Samsung has a LONG way to go to read 66 negative Ads as Apple made.

Samsung threads always infuriate Samsung users. 60% decline in profits? If apple was doomed when they made the most profit ever in their history I don't even know how to describe the state Samsung is in right now.

Good cameras are not enough though? #

I'm not a Samsung or Andriod fan but I do hope Samsung continues to push better quality phones more inline to the Alpha. I like to see competition in general to push Apple.

LOL - EXACTLY!!

p.s. Apple has how many FRAND patents? That tells you something right there.

Do you even understand why a patent must be licensed by "FRAND" vs. not? What you did was completely contradict the argument that the iPhone (or something like it) would have happened without Apple. Thank you.

FRAND = Fair, Reasonable, Non-descriminatory. Patents have FRAND requirements because they are contributed to a standard, and licensing cannot be restricted. The cellular telecommunications standards would have been created with, or without, Samsung, just as they were before Samsung existed.

Non-FRAND = Apple. Unique and proprietary. Licensed at Apples discretion only.

Would be interesting to see both flagship phones from Apple and Samsung go on sale during the same week. We could even argue about who's standing in line the longest and for what model phone.
Not necessary. Just show us news clips of any Samsung line week after week for next launch of the Note or S whatever.

Samsung ads are not simply pointing how their product is better. They are referring to the USERS of Apples products, The employees at the apple stores, the people waiting in line to buy the products and simply insulting them... not the products or the company. They've taken the insults directly to the end user making it much more personal.

Here's an interesting link from an Android site of all places:

Amazing how people here still call them "Samesung", when Apple JUST entered the phablet market that Samsung started years ago.

The irony of that is just delicious, but unfortunately goes right over the heads of most posters here, because :apple:

Samsung didn't start the phablet market any more than Apple started the smartphone market:

I'm not saying their ethical, but I wouldn't say evil. Recall the reports of Apple's manufacturing partners?

Explosions, exposure to toxic screen chemicals, etc. It's sad, but happens.

There are lots of big manufacturing companies in China that Apple uses. Somehow when something goes wrong, they are "Apple's manufacturing partners". There was even a report of 300 workers at an "Apple factory" threatening suicide - because they were afraid of losing their jobs because Xbox production was slowing down. And somehow, when something goes wrong at a place involving Apple, it's news. Other companies, no news.

The difference is what you companies do when **** happens. Apple takes action, and makes sure that workers get compensated and that things don't happen again. For example, Apple looks very hard whether companies hire anyone under the age limit, and makes sure that these kids go back to school, with the "employer" paying for it. There were two cases where they found companies were systematically hiring underaged workers, and both times the companies lost their contract with Apple. Result: The numbers are going down.

Samsung, on the other hand, has been trying its hardest to avoid any responsibilities for the leukemia cases at its factories. (And they are Samsung factories, not factories of Samsung partners). Samsung also closes their eyes to child labour and just states that nobody underage ever worked at Samsung's or their partners' factories.
