But you could have asked for a better design in the first place. They don't really have a choice, do they!

They absolutely have a choice. Time after time companies make mistakes, then attempt to hide, cover up, shift blame, make excuses. It never ends well and media coverage of said events say time and again
"If they just came out in the beginning and owned it, accepted responsibility, apologized, and fixed it, the public would have moved on"
I dont use Samsung products but this is textbook as to how to deal with an issue.
Nip it!!!!

Once again, all they've done is stop sales. They have done nothing, nothing at all, to deal with the faulty devices that have been sold. People really have sBlinkers on around these parts.

Getting a bad batch of batteries from a supplier, and stopping shipments of those units to stores, is not a "scandal".

Why is it that so many people who reply to my posts have a hard time with reading comprehension?

Read the article. Samsung is recalling all Note 7's. Recalling every item sold of a product as popular as the Note 7 is a big deal. If Apple had to recall every iPhone 6 Plus that it sold, it would be the biggest news story in recent technology history.

The amount of whining about people intentionally bending their iPhones was already off the charts. Now you have batteries exploding in people's pockets and an entire line of smart phone being recalled and it's no big deal.

ahhh….. the now infamous Samsung BatteryGate

That's what they should do. If you read more closely they haven't even committed to that yet, endangering customers lives to preserve their profit.

1) That dude at samsung is totally fired. This is a ridiculous blunder and a quality mishap that never shouldn't even been allowed. Ridiculous from a billion dollar company.

2) The note 7 could have killed 10 people and it wouldn't get the same attention as the ridiculous antenna gate and bend gate fiasco. I hope everyone is hammering hard on samsung but it's bull crap that Apple's issues so stupid and yet gets so much more attention.

Not trying to be a fanboy here but it's a double standard.

So true, and the number of Samsung Apologists are out here in full force. We know who they are, the same ones that are first in line to bash Apple during any product misstep. They will gladly bash Apple for any rumored bad news, even if it has not been verified yet. Happens all the time in MR.

They stopped shipments of the Note7, which pretty shows that they know the problem exists...as opposed to ignoring the issue or blaming the customer

But they left all the existing affected devices in the hands of customers while they hum and haw about what to do. This isn't some altruistic move on Samsungs part, devices are exploding. They aren't bending, they aren't becoming unresponsive to touch, they are EXPLODING and they should be recalled without hesitation

Your bias is coming through. You think people who get upset at someone bashing have a problem. I'd say people who go online simply to bash also have a problem. You can't claim one is bad and another isn't. In fact, I'd say the fault lies more with the people doing the bashing as I consider it a symptom of a mental health issue. Why would a person feel the need to constantly **** on every thread out there about a specific company? The people getting upset are the ones who want to have a normal conversation and are sick of garbage littering discussion threads. So it makes sense for them to get angry. Far more sense than it does for people to post the same stupid comments over and over.

This entire post is comical to me. Bashing a product online, is a symptom of mental issue? LMAO what in the hell? So I guess all the Apple faithful on here who randomly bash Samsung and Microsoft also suffer from this same mental issue?

And nobody is stopping you from having a normal convo on this site. You're basically upset b/c not everybody here eats up everything Apple puts out and basically you can't handle a differing opinion. Again, that's comical to me. You can bash Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Sony, hell even Apple...and I'd just offer my opinion on the matter and be done with it. I wouldn't take it personally b/c it ain't that serious. But someone saying something negative about Apple, upsets you that much? The hilarity of it all.

Dude, don't take things so serious lol. Not everybody here is going to share the same opinion on Apple as you do

Interesting. What leads you to that if I may ask?

Just my opinion.

Samsung states vaguely that they have "identified" the bad batteries. Effecting less than 1% of current phones, yet it's quite obvious all sales have stopped, and a recall will be forthcoming for all devices in the open. All the explosions occurred while in Wireless Charge from what I can ascertain. I simply find the claim of identifying the faulty batteries, and a recall of all devices in the open suspect. However, this is simply an opinion. :apple:

Ok, thanks. I really just asked because I know next to nothing about wireless charging.

Again, Samsung is addressing the issue. We've seen before where certain companies wouldn't even do that. Or they'd just tell the customer that they're holding it wrong

In a way, I have come to see it as a happy problem for Apple.

To be fair, Apple is a very polarizing company, and everything it does is subject to intense scrutiny. Just as every single thing Apple does is keenly reported in the news, this means that its strengths and its flaws are closely followed by the media.

It's just the price to pay for being Apple. You want more news, you have to be prepared for more negative news about Apple as well. Because the opposite of love for Apple is not hated, but indifference.

And as a brand, you don't want your fan base to be indifferent to what you do.

Good luck calling 911 with touch disease. At least Samsung is acknowledging it and not sweeping it under the rug like Apple.
That's because Samsung unlike Apple admits their flaws and cares for their customers

Break the iPhone down by individual models and you fall flat on your face. Apple doesn't sell anymore than Samsung.

Only when you include the numerous sub-$100 devices Samsung sells. If you include only flagships (Galaxy S and Note) then Apple is way ahead. No Samsung flagship in history has ever sold even half as many as the iPhone sold during the same time period.

Maybe Samsung will say ...

Exploding batteries ? Well you are charging it wrong . It is water proof you need to charge it under water !!

Huh? Sure! iPhones never just explode:
http://www.ksdk.com/news/local/5-on-your-side/iphone-explodes-in-st-peters-mans-pocket/265410117

It's the nature of Lithium batteries. They're at fault, not any one company. In hundreds of millions of batteries, a 0.001% fault rate will lead to a few hundred and very publicized burn cases.

It's been happening for years, example iPhone 4 in 2011:

Happy problem? I think not.
