Haha yeah show a customer how to do it on the iPhone then ask them to do it themselves. I'm sure they'd go fine. Do the same for a S9 hahaha

Have you tried it? It's really dummy proof. Just hold down the app switcher button to switch to split screen and choose the 2nd app. A lot easier than awkward gestures on iPhone X just for basic app switching.

My friend was saying the same thing as you.
So, just for fun I took my friend’s Android, just took the SD and copied all of his pictures and documents, he stored there. SD is nice, but in no way this is good for privacy or security. You may think Apple does this because of greed. I don’t.

BS. Encryption is on by default.

No. DSLR will probably have some kind of event pictures, probably not too sensitive. In this time and age, taking a mobile phone, is taking a chunk of their lives.
The point is, that you will store your sensitive data on an SD card of a mobile phone, anybody can easily pinch off off you. Pictures and videos you will store, for your convenience, and for their size, on an SD. I know it may be useful, but, still, the point doesn’t change.
I do not argue SD is not useful, but you can also understand there may be a misuse
I think the SD card is useful but the first point is true. I remember when I sold my galaxy S5. I wiped the phone but forgot to take my micro SD card out. It only had music, videos and pictures on there. The content was backed up in other places but I was not happy that other people now freely had access to my stuff. Obviously this was completely my own fault for not removing it.

I don't see why you think DSLR images would be different from a phone. It could be a compact camera instead. Plenty of people will take family photos etc on a DSLR. I don't store any sensitive data on my SD card. It is nearly all music and video which would totally fill my phone memory. In any case, Android gives capability of combining phone and SD memory, and it cannot be read out with the phone. If Apple had SD card slot they could easily make it secure like this as well.
With Android, user decides what memory apps use. It will be phone memory by default. So if you add an SD card and don't combine storage, nothing will use SD card until you decide.

This. Being able to easily transfer 5000 pictures to a micro sd chip that cost me $10 maybe the biggest feature of Android that Apple has no answer for. Phone out of memory on vacation? Pop in another $10 card and I am good for another 5,000 pictures. No uploading required.
Exactly. Yet people here
Can you actually come up with an argument to support your opinion, or is it purely aesthetics that you don't like?
The notch cuts out some of the viewing area when watching a video. And its ugly! What more evidence do you need? I’m so tired of everyone saying “you get used to it” or “its not that bad”. BS! Imagine if that notch was on your flatscreen TV.

I’m sure you can encrypt the SD card?

Didn’t do that myself when I left mine in the phone I sold but it was my fault and there wasn’t anything sensitive on there.

Storage. Honestly I hate the SD card in the Samsung as not everything of an APP goes there. So small internal storage sucks. I would have applications do updates and couldn't have enough storage even though i put them o the card because only some of the program was stored on the card. Also i do not want to carry around a lot of extra storage cards (which can get lost with very sensitive information..). All my important information that I carry on a cell phone is protected by the cell phones security instead of a card that can be removed and read anywhere. Why put a password on your phone if you are saving your pictures and other personal information on a removable storage media that has no security.

SD is 100% useful on the Samsung. I have huge VR files saved to the SD card.

On which version and which brand? Not on the LG Beats 3 or Samsungs I have owned

If the SD and phone memory are combined in settings, the data on the SD card cannot be read out with that phone. Too big of an issue made about sensitive data on the SD card. Especially about photos. You decide what goes on SD if the memory isn't combined. I don't know why anyone uses an actual camera. Such a security risk.

Haha
Sorry for laughing, but the same thing happened to me, when I gave my last Android to my coworker
Well embarrassing :)

Sorry Samsung, but as much as you want to discredit Apple, the majority of iPhone users would never be swayed by these commercials. We all understand iOS and iPhone shortcomings, but also see the many more pros vs everything else on the market. This is why iOS/iPhone has incredibly high owner loyalty.

They aren’t wrong about the multitasking

That was the only point I agreed with Samsung on. I don't want SD cards, and I actually like the notch. I hated the notch idea at first, but after using it, I like having the clock and other info up there out of the way. Not perfect, but I like it better than the old style.

As for split screen, that is the only big feature I can think of that would really get me to upgrade this year. If the rumored 6.5 inch iPhone supports split screen, I'll buy it for sure. I use Youtube TV now for my "cable subscription", and I hate being forced to stop using my phone whenever watching a video.

To be fair, I didn’t go through all the settings in the phones, just the basics I wanted.
Everything on the SD cards was fully readable on Mac. Didn’t try in Windows

Lol, brilliant, it's this condescending tone that puts folk off Apple.. I know for a fact that you can get an ip8 in the UK for 20 something pounds a a month with a data plan. Luxury is not bought for 20 pounds a month, don't kid yourself...

Actually. I wasn’t trying to sound “condescending”. I’m talking about how MOST/SOME people view iPhones in general. Most people think iphone is a premium/expensive phone. Apple has an excellent lineup with plenty of options. From $349 for IPhone SE, to $999 for iPhone X. Most people see the price tag regardless of monthly installments and think it’s expensive.

On which version and which brand? Not on the LG Beats 3 or Samsungs I have owned

BS. A budget phone from 2014? Try something recent from the last few years.

It's like someone making the claim that iPhones have tiny displays then using the iPhone 4S as an example.

Of the general phone buying masses, if Apple offered a phone with SD card facility, how many would pay the extra £140 for the 256 GB version if they could turn a 64GB phone into a 320GB phone for half that cost? An SD card in a phone is internal storage.
Apple don't offer SD card use because they don't get the money for the storage.
It’s an interesting question, but it still doesn’t change the fact that less people are using SD cards today than before, which was my point. The fact that fewer phones include a SD card slot plays part in that yes, but it only further proves my point that cloud storage is becoming more and more prevalent.

If Apple were to implement SD card slots in the next iPhone, how many would bother buying a card? How many already have invested in cloud storage and would ignore it? We won’t know.

Btw, Samsung new screens just got rated as unbreakable (not yet commercially available)

MacBook Pro keyboards just got condoms put on them because specs of dust were breaking keys and requiring 600 dollar repairs (for specs of dust!)

Who is innovating.... and condoms don’t sound like luxury... but you sure pay luxury price!
Actually. Samsung is merely testing these new “unbreakable” screens. They havent been put into any phones yet. They’re not totally unbreakable. They’ve been drop tested from 4-6 feet.

Apple is fixing all the keyboards with MacBooks that broke and are even issuing refunds for people who already paid on services to fix them because of the design error.

No need to respond to my post twice lol. Anyways, I literally made a counterargument against that of the ad's and yours. It doesn't cut into part of the video AT ALL. Most video is 16:9 aspect ratio. The iPhone X's display has an aspect ratio of 19.488:9 meaning that the full video can be viewed in its entirety in native 1080p resolution. What you're talking about is zooming in to fill the display. Which is stupid to do in the first place considering that about 20% of the entire video is cut from the top and the bottom of the video to begin with and another 3-5% of the video is covered by the notch. So please tell me, why would you get mad at the loss of 5% of video but not over the other 20% from the top and the bottom?

You're being selectively angry at the iPhone X's design.

There were no compromising photos on there. Just normal pics. I didn’t even have kids then.

With comments like the one you responded to, It's shocking that Apple diehards actually wonder why they get so much ridicule. Seriously, luxury items are not sold at Walmart, nor are they carried around by elementary children. You have people on food stamps with iPhones. Luxury indeed. Lol

I think it would depend on how big the base storage was. If the base storage was low then I think people would use it a lot. I’m self confessed hoarder anyway. I Have 256GB on my iPhone X and on my S9 + I have 128GB internal storage and a 200GB micro SD card.

people don't choose android? Have you used a top end android device? They are really good these days. And you know around the world most have chosen Andriod, including the tech community. Most of the tech users (really tech, not fashionistas) are not choosing Apple. Just ask Siri to look up some stats. O WAIT, you can't. Maybe on Homepod, sorry.....

I think Scott Galloway put it nicely, Apple sells status. And this is my problem as before when Steve was running the show, Apple was an amazing tech company. Tim and Angela have turned it to a luxury fashion company, and tech (both hardward and software) has suffered greatly. Again, ask siri for stats..no it won't ;)

So I agree, Apple is luxury, super profitable, but don't be delusion if you think you are paying for quality or advanced tech. You are paying for status, security, and a closed system with limited capabilities. And MOST of the world doesn't use imessages, maps, or siri either. I hear Jonny is designing the iSlate, the most luxury polished metal in the world. Doesn't do anything, but you pay lots. And if you want to show it to people, you need a dongle. Share value will go crazy!
And how do you figure that Apple isn’t a “tech” company? Their Processors are much more advanced than android counterparts and have been for years. And they do WAY more with less. Look at the tech just inside Face ID. No Android phone can even touch that technology. Any Samsung phone with face unlock can be fooled with a picture. You can keep the open fragmented system that you can “root” and “customize”. If that’s tech then boy am I missing out!!!

Apple has amazing phones that stand the test of time. An iPhone 5s will still be able to get iOS 12 when it comes out. That is astonishing. How many android phones have 8.0 or 8.1? I think the worldwide percentage is something around 2-3%.

Yes some of the new Samsung phones have beautiful displays and loads of gimmicky features that most people don’t use. But problem is they lag and become fragmented over time. And last I checked, top android flagships like note 8 and S9 cost upwards of $800-$900.

So your argument about android having superior technology is wrong. Sorry.

Interesting. What specifically makes you think that? What kind of features do you think they are focusing on and what kind of usability are they ignoring?

Name one ad, ever, where McDonald's made fun of Burger King.

They never did... that is the point. They booth garbage "fast food" so trying to demonstrate value by comparison is nonsensical.

I cannot remember, but I think the first time the SD card is inserted the option to format as internal/combined storage is shown. This feature can be invoked at any time in settings in the storage menus. I chose not to do so, as I like the capability to move the card to new phone and instantly have my phone music library "appear" in the new phone. I will also put videos to view on flights etc.
Security issues seem to be the "new black" with people to justify this feature not being available on iPhones. It is usually in the same slot as the SIM card so the water resistance argument cannot be used :)
Apple will never implement it as they would lose the mass of money they get from larger storage charges.

We get a fantastic insight into life in late Victorian era onwards due to photographs of normal life including children at play and at school. None of which is permitted now.

So what happens to this info in landscape mode. I regularly use landscape mode for browsing when the info doesn't adapt to mobile use and the screen isn't wide enough - as one example.
