There's a whole lot of back and fourth about apple and Samsung. Let me break something down though. All this talk just let's it be know how much apple users respect Samsung and Samsung users respect apple. You only talk about and give the time of day to your greatest competition. No matter what apple users say they know Samsung is their biggest rival and respect there products and Samsung users do the same as well.
Apple and Samsung are the 2 titans in the game right now. Both make great products you really can't have one without the other. Now with that being said. Galaxy note 4 FTW

This is why you could never work for Apple. No imagination. :p

I'm a tech geek and I go to school. If the Ipad Pro had a 13 inch screen with stylus supported technology, multi tasking and a couple gigs of ram to assist in said multitasking than I would replace my surface pro 3 for in class note taking while continuing to use my sp3 for more heavy duty stuff.

Dual operating systems would be nice. Apple must push massive SSD storage on these devices.

The base model could be something like this:

16GB (iOS system storage)
180GB (OSX+iOS shared storage)
60GB (OSX system storage)
Total: 256GB

Translation: "It was perfect until apple told us it wasn't."

Because it wasn't even 3 months ago that people on these forums were still making fun of the size of the note series and lauding that apple would never make such a ridiculous size.

If it has osx and a stylus I hate to tell both of you but I'm going to get it before you both. ;)

I haven't said that. There was a time where I didn't even think an iPhone was useful for my needs. I really only started to like Apple after I bought the first iPad. I don't have to buy into every trend that hits the market right at the outset nor does anyone else. I would still make fun of the NOTE series because the size of the device is too wide and too thick.

Delusional or sheep. Choose one.
Option C. Buy what I need when I need

I choose not to buy into every trend that hits the market at the outset. I wait until I see a need/use for it then I jump on. I'm not some slave to technology where I need to buy into every trend that hits the market.

Many times I'm happy to sit on the sidelines and let things develop. I didn't jump on the iPhone right away and I didn't jump on the phablets right away either. I don't have to be first to everything. Let some other sucker be a lab rat for billion dollar companies releasing beta hardware and software that the lab rats willingly pay hundreds of dollars for.

I hope they include proper stylus support with a nice Wacom digitiser.

Don't hold your breath. They could have done it from day one and didnt so it seems like stylus support is not big on the list. Also this is a sketch source so don't count on this iPad pro.

The best we might get isthe same tech from the watch display. Which could get us a handful of levels of pressure support. That with perhaps smaller detection points for finer writing and a display you can use outside would be enough for the 95% that is Apples focus

iPad Pro. I don't get it... What's the advantage of having more screen real estate on an iPad? A laptop running a full OS sure, but a tablet crippled with a feature-missing mobile OS?

Nothing from what I can tell but it gets page hits so they keep talking about it. Or going even further and suggesting the pro will have Mac OS or even both

Apple needs to come up with something better this time. I'll take a close look at the iPad pro when it comes out.

The iPad Air has not been very successful if you look at the comparable sales qtr by qtr. Personally I think the solid iPad 4 is a better deal. I own iPad 2 and 4, and I bought an iPad Air earlier this year but I had to return it because it didn't feel right. The back cover is so thin it feels like plastic. So, Apple, please, thinner is not always better!

Does anyone else see that the iPad screen is like 2 inches bigger than the MacBook airs? They really need to get a new comp.

When exactly did MR start treating DigiTimes as gospel?

Also, I'm now betting that if this device exists, it'll be called the iPad Plus.

I gotta be honest: Although I had other plans, I find that I VERY rarely take my iPad 3 outside my home.

Therefore, when upgrading I will definitely be interested in a bigger screen. A 13 inch iPad seems awesome IMO. My only worry is that it's gonna be heavy to hold.

I would agree. I've had both the Mini and full sized iPad 2 and both do exactly the same thing save for one being bigger. The same content is shown on either screen.

Just like the iPhone 6 plus, the devs will have to code apps that take advantage of the extra space otherwise it will look a hot mess, and not give much more functionality.

It'd be nice to see both Wacom (or Synaptics) digitizer support and either an option to boot to OSX or have Apple specific apps that take advantage of the added space. The latter spurring interest and creativity among the dev community to code for a large screen.

Then again, I'd like to see at least the digitizer support come to the rest of the iPad line. That and the RAM is really crippling the iPad user experience.

Well, I find desktop formatted websites are often too small on my 9.7 inch iPad, making me pinch to zoom which is not really ideal. With more screen estate these websites can be rendered with bigger text, no?

Why bother with 2 gigs of ram? iOS doesn't need it! How wasteful!

Que up the last airbender jokes...

Nice with the airbender jokes.

Shame on you for suggesting that MORE of a good thing is somehow BAD.

They only people that EVER say such things don't understand how tech works.

We're at 64 bit mobile SoC that won't be hindered by more RAM, so why not give us more RAM. Besides, the page reload thing with the iPads and iPhone is annoying.

Gospel? I don't know about that, however DigiTimes has been the source of news on here for quite some time. There are some references starting back in 2006, and 2007, back on the mostly Page2 of Macrumors News of that time.

Appleinsider provides confirmation for a rumor that first appeared on Digitimes (Page 2) earlier this month. According to Appleinsider, the newest MacBook Pros will transition away from "cold cathode fluorescent backlights (CCFLs) and towards LED backlights."

The rumor site targets the 15" MacBook Pro as the likely recipient of the LED screen in the "second quarter" of this year, but it is unclear when the 17" Pros and 13" MacBooks will also beneift from the upgrades.

LED-lit displays offer some notable improvements over the traditional CCFLs backlit displays, including:

- improved battery life (uses less power)
- maintain brightness longer over current screens
- more vivid colors

The ipad Air 2 doesn't seem to be generating much excitement this time

I recently used an iPad 3rd gen (iOS7) and there was very little difference in speed from the Air. At this point, besides form factor (slightly thinner), there is little reason for anyone to upgrade.

Besides new commercials, Apple is offering very little compelling reason to upgrade even a 3 yr old iPad. iOS still treats the iPad like a big iPhone.

:apple:

i've been waiting for a "PRO" model, but if the only thing pro about it is that it's larger and a chip upgrade that's not going to do it for me. they need to make something that "competes" with the surface even if they don't actually need to. i'm not looking to switch but if apple doesn't feel threatened by loss of customers they will never go for a big change. i'm going to stick with my ipad 3 until i see a big leap. how about an osx ipad? with a pressure sensitive pen to compete with the wacom digitizers?? bigger flash going up to 256GB o even 512GB? running actual apps. that's a pro model. one that professionals can use. give us some ports. usb, lightning and hd video out.

they put out new products that the day you buy them samsung and htc already have phones with cutting edge features. i love the iphone 6 but is it really revolutionary?? i'd say the software is more of an advance than the hardware. i contend that it's more the software than the hardware that keeps customers loyal. i'n have 100's if not 1000's of dollars in apps. so i'm never changing but it is frustrating!!!

even the new watch. yes it's very nice, but does it blow the competition out of the water as far as what it does? it may look better but where are some of the rumored sensors medical professionals were anticipating?? why would you make it so it could work without the phone? i know, we carry our phones everywhere anyway but still...

bottom line, apple knows it has a rather rabid customer base so they don't have to compete with samsung, htc, MS or anyone else. so it doesn't bother to do so. be honest, some of the stuff those other companies have in their phone you want! so hey apple start making phones, tablets and watches that do everything and more than the competition, not less!!! siri could use a voice upgrade and why doesn't it learn like cortana supposedly does?? still just one speaker?? where is the saphire? no pen not pressure sensitivity, no pro app, still no multitasking. apple is behind but as long as we keep buying new stuff every year they won't feel the need to inovate. why overtake the competition in that area when you can ad a couple bells of whistles each year, stay behind and still sell millions of you products the first day now, not the first weekend or month.

i'm a bit of a hypocrite because i bought an iphone 6, but i'm not buying a new ipad til i see a real pro mode not just a bigger model!!!
