The thing is for Apple they aren't even friends, rivals or frenemies. They are so far below Apple, they are an insignificant speck of dust. Samsung reeks of desperation.
I’m an Apple fan, but Samsung is the world's second-largest technology company by revenue, with a market capitalization of 520 billion. And they’re a major supplier for Apple.

I don’t know how you can call them an insignificant speck of dust.

If you like Android great but Samsung seriously have some issues....all they ever do is talk about Apple.
Don't ever talk about your competition....that is marketing 101. They are like a petulant child.
If you enjoy Android devices, go for it.
Um....Apple talks about their competition in the keynotes when they compare. We all know who they're referring to and so do they. Is Apple marketing bad now too? Oh no, it's just when others do what apple do that it's bad.

the pixel count in the Samsung negatively impacts low-light shooting, even though they try to bin the pixels together to better collect light. the light sensitivity has been called out as a trade-off for that phone in numerous reviews. Great shots in good light, but Apple has been wisely more judicious in the pixel count race for better low-light images, and has had superior software for processing.

Even Samsung’s lower pixel count phones review better than the 108mp. (The phone frequently doesn’t make the top 10 for camera phones) one review as an example - plenty out there that agree.
 


Samsung today continued on with its ad campaign denigrating Apple devices, this time sharing a series of tweets highlighting Apple's lack of a foldable iPhone and pitting the iPhone 14 Pro's 48-megapixel camera against the Galaxy S22's 108-megapixel camera.

"What the Flip, Apple?" reads the first tweet, which points out the launch date of Samsung's first foldable device. The second tweet has the same first-to foldables theme, while the third notes that Samsung devices have had higher megapixel cameras for several years.


Samsung has been sharing anti-Apple ads since before the new iPhone 14 models were announced, and the company has a long history of insulting Apple devices in order to promote its own products. "Buckle up for Apple's latest launch," said an ad released in early September. "As you enter a world where heads will turn, must none in your direction. Where the highest resolution smartphone will be in someone else's pocket."

A second "Join the flip side" ad that came out on Thursday attempted to persuade iPhone users to swap to the Galaxy Flip by showing a diehard iPhone fan lusting over foldable technology.

Samsung has in the past mocked Apple design decisions such as the removal of the headphone jack only to follow suit and make the same move a few years later. Samsung has a leg up in this case as it was first to market with foldable devices and high-resolution cameras, but it will be interesting to see if there are iPhone 14 Pro features that Samsung ends up adopting in the future.

You might want to check that. Profits and margins are a different story, but Samsung sells more phones than Apple

Hence why I specifically called out the Galaxy family as those are the phones that compete with the iPhone in the marketplace.

As many others have already noted, Samsung does sell more phones overall, but they are almost all low-end models in the $100 and below price point, which Apple has never been a part of.

Not really true. Higher MP does let you zoom a lot more without losing an expected level of quality and it lets you crop existing photos without losing that level of quality too. Higher MP is a good thing. Apple has had a "studio quality" camera on their phones for years (Apple proved it in court), but that's meaningless if you take a photo you want to submit for print but you crop so much away that you're left with a very low resolution image. Some magazines won't accept a photo that will be printed below 300ppi. This is all the more important for iPhone because it lacks optical zoom, so you can't just zoom in when taking a photo. Next year we'll get our optical zoom and probably even more MP.
 
Whether you like the ad or not, from an advertising perspective, it worked. Not only are several Apple fans here responding to it, but a site dedicated to Apple rumors ran the ad for them.

Samsung doesn’t need any of you to buy a phone tomorrow for this ad to be worth the cost of producing it. However, if/when you consider straying from the Apple ecosystem, they want their brand to be as closely associated with Apple’s as possible and at the forefront of your mind. This gives them the best chance of getting your business.

And this ad isn’t for someone who looks at their phone holistically — it’s for folks who are driven primarily by specs (i.e., pixel peepers). There are folks who may think some of these characteristics are better without qualification:
- more pixels
- more megahertz
- more horsepower
- more square footage
- more money

As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, whenever Apple releases a new iPhone, Samsung will release an ad mocking it. Apple had its own version of this with their anti-Intel/Window ads, though arguably more subtle, and turnabout is fair play after all.

If you look at the Samsung 108mp (and most every other tiny-chipped smartphone camera for that matter) at 1:1 you'll see it's full of smeary noise, noise reduction artifacts, etc. Zooming in only reveals these defects so they're more apparent. Especially if you're above ISO 50, coz then the defects get much, much worse, quickly. The problem is the image sensor chips in every smartphone is very very tiny.

Even the "large" smartphone sensors are but mere 1" format. There's no smartphone that I am aware of which has a micro four-thirds, aps-c or 36x24mm format sensor in it. The reason is because these larger, higher-quality sensors would necessitate a much thicker phone. And a larger lens. And the larger sensor and larger lens would add $500 at least to the price of any smartphone.

By the way, notice how apple never does negative attack ads and they smack the galaxy series around in sales every year. Now that doesn't necessarily mean Apple's phones are better (they are imo), but the negative ads don't seem too effective. I think they turn people off to be honest.
 
I found a Samsung 108mp image and downsized it to 700 pixels wide so that we can see the whole image.

Then I also included a portion of the image at 1:1 view (100 percent size) which shows the pretty awful noise and noise reduction artifacts.

Mind you, THIS IMAGE IS ISO 50. _FIFTY_. That's _nothing_. That's about as low as ISO gets and it still looks this bad.

Just imagine what this image will look like at ISO 400. ISO 1600. ISO 25,600. It's not gonna be pretty I'll tell ya' that much. Zooming in will only make defects like this more obvious. There's no quality to be gained from putting high-mp, small-chip sensors in a camera. You gain nothing. It's all marketing b.s.

This sort of ads would never make me want to switch to Samsung. They sound so jealous and desperate!
