No “ProMotion” equivalent display.
ProMotion doesn’t rely on gimmicks like reducing the resolution significantly to use the max refresh, like this does.

ProMotion is only supported in a handful of apps and doesn't work in Safari so more of a gimmick. I'd rather take consistent 1080p120 over sometimes working ProMotion.

This is sarcasm right? Because anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see the case is the same, the way they sit in the case and charge is the same, do I need to go on still or do you realize now that..they're the same?
Ok... they're both white. They are not the same shape.
The Buds aren't even the same design language as the AirPod.

ProMotion dynamically adjusts the refresh rate. No android phone manufacturer has ever stated that their high refreshrate screens can adjust on the fly.

Also, adoptable storage is still garbage. I buy Apple's highest capacity phones for a reason (and not because there isn't an SD Card slot for water and dust to get in through).
Samsung phone gives you the same amount of fast storage as iPhone and then an additional slower storage which is still fast enough to work with the media files (photos, music/video recording and playback etc.) which in most cases occupy the bulk of the storage. There is absolutely no downside to having a memory card (and plenty of benefits).

lmao how can you take functionality over looks right after complaining about how the iPhone looks the same for three years now? I much prefer a symmetrical consistent look with a little bezel to hold onto. I feel like you’re intentionally ignoring that the notch is there for Face ID vs some crappy in screen fingerprint scanner that can easily be fooled.

Lmao...okay lets see..
#1 Because it is a FACT, period.
#2 She was criticizing the aesthetics of this new phone and I asked how a 3 year old iPhone is any better
#3 Her response was vague so I brought up another point that I think people should really look into before judging something by how it looks.

I love aesthetics don't get me wrong, but it shouldn't be the first thing to look at, like I said, I rather focus on what that thing can do for me and effective I can do my work with it before looking at how "Symmetrical consistent" a line is because it has no function but to please the eye.

Of course it's Android. It's Samsung's Android. Yes, Samsung does not operate the same way Amazon does. So what? Are you trying to say that Samsung releases OS based on pure AOSP? Obviously not. Can AOSP be used to run on Samsung devices? It can't. That's the point. Those who try to complain that Google version of Android is not available on Samsung phones are completely missing the point. It's not supposed to. Samsung devices get updates when Samsung prepares them (just like with Apple/iOS)
Samsung releases their phones with Google's version Android, including all of Google's services. Not an AOSP derivative.
Google has required all manufacturers that use Android with Google's services to display "Powered by Android" during boot up. (Every Galaxy shows this)
Samsung ADDS changes to the visual elements (One UI) and hardware support on top of Android.
It is not their own OS. Just UI changes and some ADDED functionality.

Now stop, before you continue to embarrass yourself further.

Visually speaking this looks ugly - they tried copying the old iPhone 11 camera layout leak, they still can’t figure out the chin like Apple has and no matter how much ram they try shoving in it, it’s still underperforming to year old (or longer) Apple chips and performance.

some will love this phone... to each their own... there’s a reason when you compare phone 1:1 - like flagship s10 vs iPhone 11 - the iPhone outsells Samsung by a lot (and apple doesn’t even market or slash the price to 0$ right away)

on first glance it looks like they have a few features I’d like on the iPhone (120hz) but everything else is mainly a gimmick or apole already does better.

That's a con and not a pro. If I bought a 144Hz gaming PC/monitor and it only works sometimes I'd get a refund.

Are you just refusing to admit you’re wrong and making up stuff? Please cite where Samsung claims they make their own OS.
They don't and that's not what I meant. I said that they release their own version of Android. Obviously its core is developed by Google. But Samsung adds a lot to it (again, S-pen, DeX, memory cards, Knox, UI, support for Samsung's own CPUs etc.) and that's the only version of Android that can be used on Samsung devices. So, those who refer to a time gap between Google releases and Samsung releases completely miss the point.

Yeah, I missed that part. I thought you meant 100x zoom.

it has that as well

12-16GB RAM? How pathetic that your mobile OS needs more RAM than a full-blown desktop OS (like Win 10) to run properly.

Amazing? I had to wait 6 months for an Android update on my Note 8 and 5 months on my Note 9. That’s utter crap for a device that’s in the $1,000 range. Who are the Samsung customers you’re speaking to that say it’s “amazing”

Getting an IOS bug fix three times a month is not a “software update”

$1400! At the same time at the Barcelona Mobile Fare Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and other chinese brands introduced high quality phones that go back to the $500 to $600 price point.

Don't know about the US but in Germany less and less people are willing to buy phones for 1000 Euros and up anymore.

Keep backpedaling and you'll get there soon enough.

You can use just about any version of Android on a Samsung device (Cyanogen, Lineage, AOKP, etc,)... all you need is the kernel source for the hardware support, which is published when the phone is released.
I've got an old Galaxy S4 sitting on my desk that runs Android 9 from Lineage OS.

I would rather use the Nokia 3310 than any of these spying rubbish chinese brands!!

It's a premium high tech phone. If you can't afford it get an iPhone or Moto.

Wow, base prices at up to $1400?!!

Seems crazy Samsung continues ratcheting up the prices up as they compete with the Chinese mfrs who have significantly cheaper hardware.

Yes, definitely something wrong when "entry level" starts at $1000. Apple made that mistake with the Mac mini, too (in Canadian dollars). Entry level needs to be a much lower entry price.

Doesn’t explain anything. Dex is half-baked and you showing a screenshot doesn’t change the fact it’s running horrible Android Apps blown up because developers are too lazy to optimize for tablets/larger screens.

Do you think you’re the only person here that uses an Android phone or Dex and that people aren’t going to call you out when you make a false claim about what they are capable of or how good they are?

It’s hard to take anything you say about Android seriously when you make comments like this.
Wrong, the fact that games may not be optimized for DeX is irrelevant (and some games are optimized for it). That's not what DeX is for. Here are some of the apps that are optimized for DeX:
* MS Office (including OneNote)
* Skype
* Hancom Office
* Adobe Acrobat Reader (and many other Adobe apps, like Lightroom etc.)
* Google Photos
* GMail
* Youtube
* Chrome
* VLC

That's plenty of apps for productivity (and some entertainment)

This alone is a reason enough to have that much memory. What exactly is crippled there? In many ways it's a much better approach to productivity on mobile devices than what Apple is trying to do with iPads.

Are you saying that Samsung's entry level phones start at $1000? Aren't they closer to $100? Unlike Apple, they have phones for all sorts of people/prices.

Must say, I like the Apple ecosystem, but I sure miss Samsung’s beautiful devices and interface. Apple is starting to feel archaic on both fronts.

Huawei got a lot of free press over here in Europe when Donnie first accused them of spying but then no other intelligence agency could confirm it and they got rehabilitated in a big way.

And Xiaomi got a good reputation within young and tech people since they have the Mi Band activity tracker for 25 Euros that is a huge hit. Now that everybody knows their name it may help sell those phones too.

Samsung continues to make the iPhone look utterly outdated.

Please do explain. iPhone is powered by the fastest mobile processor (still) and iOS requires less RAM to do the same work. iOS features a superior, modern file system. App updates are tiny and install quickly. Who needs 10 megapixel selfie shots? Seriously, think about that for a second. It's great that technology and specs are advancing, but higher numbers on a new device does not make the leading phone up to this point any less capable. Your iPhone is still a fantastic device.

$1000, $1200, $1400 base price on the three S20 models.

Vs. $700, $1000, $1100 for the three iPhone 11 models.

Not sure what Samsung is thinking with this S series pricing.

Where is a new mid level ($600-$800) phone? Big price gap between S20 and upper level A series phones. Guess that gap to be filled by discounted last years S10’s.

Do you have KNOX or S-pen or memory cards support? One can run Windows on Macs too but so what? These are ARM based computers. What we are discussing specifically is the "delay" between Google's release of Android and Samsung's release of their Android based on the same Google version. Are you suggesting that Samsung should release Google's version of Android right away. It won't work (and would be lacking a lot of features even if it did). Let's add support for things like TOF sensor, interface to Samsung TVs to the list of features missing in Google's Android.
