The few Samsung phones I have always had problems with them and they also plummeted in value after less than 12 months. I prefer iPhones and they retain more of there value when I upgrade every year. I will never buy another Samsung phone I don't care how many megapixels the cameras have.
Not really anymore, iPhone don’t hold their values that much better. 1300 dollar iPhone XS Max after 1 year worth 600-700ish

  • No one gives a s**t about 8K video and shouldn't for like a decade at least
  • More pixels in a camera ≠ better image quality
  • Samsung campers have criticized the iPhone's camera bump for years, only to introduce the absolute fugliest one yet of anyone in the industry
  • Enjoy your 16GB of RAM - you'll need at least half of it to run that god-awful bloatware Samsung loads on top of Android
  • "Galaxy Buds" are a clear and blatant rip off of the AirPods (I'm guessing they were so busy trying to even catch up that they had no time to come up with a more original design)
Did I miss anything?
The gear icon X, looking just like the galaxy buds cane out before the first gen AirPods. They had a charging case and were truly wireless.

Except that it does. This is the same sensor used by Huawei, and it already beat the iPhone 11 Pro in a comparison made by Marques Brownlee.

This is Samsung's implementation, which I guess will be better. Anyway the phone selectively adjust and decides the Megapixel count depending on the light conditions, it will not always try to use the 108 MPx sensor. It has a 12 MPx for low light situations.

You can also zoom optically to crazy levels, that is very Pro my friend. It has focused definition, meaning it can decide to select parts of your image, focus on it and make it look sharper. Instead of accusing this phone of gimmicky, Apple should see what the competition is doing and try to deliver much more.

Lens quality is also a big factor in making the photos better. More Megapixels doesn't necessarily make photos better.

Ok... they're both white. They are not the same shape.
The Buds aren't even the same design language as the AirPod.
I'll concede that there are only so many ways these manufacturers can design a case for storing and recharging the individual ear pieces, but at the same time, it could NOT be more obvious here that Samsung was eyeing AirPods for the jumping off point in designing the buds. Like these these things look a helluva lot closer to those than say, Jabra's wireless ear buds.

Huh? That’s great

A 3 month S10 went from 1099 to 550 resale value
Perfect, you can get a used s10 for only 550 after 3 months.

also, are you quoting ebay prices? half of them are imported from the korean market where its regionally cheaper and does not have all the lte bands needed. therefore sellers can sell for less and still profit.

This phone is very ugly it looks as if they glued a Lego on the back and called it a camera lenses.

$1000, $1200, $1400 base price on the three S20 models.

Vs. $700, $1000, $1100 for the three iPhone 11 models.

Not sure what Samsung is thinking with this S series pricing.

Where is a new mid level ($600-$800) phone? Big price gap between S20 and upper level A series phones. Guess that gap to be filled by discounted last years S10’s.
J2 - $80
J3 - $110
A10e - $180
A20 - $180
A30 - $200
A70 - $350
S10e - $700
S10 - $800

That's not counting S8, Note 8, S9, Not 9 etc.

S10 was released less than a year ago. This event was about the flagship phones. Samsung releases new models all year round. Also, one should not compare $700 iPhone 11 to $1000 Galaxy S20. It's closer to A70 (but without AMOLED)

Yeah, that's fair. I replied to another forum member much in the same way I would've replied to you, had I not seen his comment first:

Also, even when buying flagship Samsung phone at release day one can get a lot of stuff from Samsung (memory cards, wireless earbuds etc.). And discounts come much sooner than to iPhones. This should be taken into account when comparing resale values.

For sure once coverage covers most of the metro and carriers compete with plans. I'll have a new phone before then probably, so just going to get the 4G one, I'm a sucker for pink. Staff discount from a friend to take the edge off.
Sounds like a good idea. I've been watching Telstra roll out their 5G across Melbourne and I've noticed it's starting to appear in suburbia in patches. Hopefully by the time the new iPhones are announced in September, It'll be good enough to buy a 5G iPhone and I can upgrade my plan but I won't do that until after my trip to the States.

ProMotion is only supported in a handful of apps and doesn't work in Safari so more of a gimmick. I'd rather take consistent 1080p120 over sometimes working ProMotion.
Right..... but it’s not consistent, is it?
The DEFAULT is 60hz, sooooo.

yeah my gf got free galaxy bud and some other goodies when she got the s10 5g, they also let her trade in her s7 for 200 bucks.

Seems like a huge price increase for not a lot of innovation. Just 5G, better cameras, and 120Hz. Every improvement has an asterisk attached to it as well. 5G mmWave isn't on all of the models. 120Hz only works if you have the screen on 1080, not 1440. 8K works, but not on the main camera, and no stabilization. Yikes.

I’m basing it on comparison sites and all major pieces to sell devices.

Resale value remains great on iPhones and trash on all android devices

$1600 dollar phone to browse Facebook, take Snaps and make TikToks. 99% of the people who buy them.

lol

Samsung's hardware is superior to Apple's on every level since Cook. The big difference is in software, Samsung can't even compete with Apple, battery performance is mediocre and that bixby button is one of the biggest epic fail decisions of the industry, like that magic mouse rear charging port or the butterfly keyboard / touch bar.

$1000 - $1400 price range is hilarious considering the level of software they put out. Have an S10 sitting next to me.

I’m excited for 120hz in the iPhones this fall. Hopefully all of them get it. I want the 5.4 inch.

When you have a lot more pixels, unless you dramatically increase the size of the sensor, you deal with smaller pixels and color bleeding, so no, more megapixels does not mean better pictures unless those pixels are implemented reeeeeeeealy well.

Very impressive specs, including a “ProMotion” equivalent display refresh rates (120), a base storage of 128 GB (further expandable) and really impressive sounding cameras. Apple will be playing catch up this autumn and I hope they deliver. 🤞

ProMotion is different. It doesn't keep the screen rate at 120Hz, it dynamically adjusts based on the content onscreen.

Also, yes, the cameras sound impressive, but they're mostly just specs. We have to wait and see how they actually perform.

Not as great as you think, iPhone although do better than Samsung, loses about 50 percent value on an annual basis,

iPhone XR msrp 750 could be had for 300-400 depending on condition,

iPhone XS Msrp 1000 can be had for 400-500

iPhone XS Max msrp 1100 can be had for 500ish

now if you wanna talk about current generation iPhones,

iPhone 11 msrp 700 can be had for 500-600ish

11 pro msrp 1000 can be had for 700-800

11 pro Msrp 1100 can be had for 800-900

also in consideration Samsung allow carriers to throw a lot more promotions than Apple. Apple has stepped up in this area but not to the level of Samsung

Again like others you are basing this on the US

In the UK and Europe the trade in offers are simply not there at all. If anything you get no more than Apple these days which isn’t much

The S10 plus 512GB went for only £500-£550 months are release. One year after the previous iPhone for same storage you could get at least £700-£800
