What a lacklustre phone.

It still has bezels top and bottom, the camera is nothing new really with a layer focus feature that the iPhone has had since the iPhone 5S. The front is just designed for selfies which is so meh.

DEX could be interesting but I think it will be a bust. Microsoft pushed this and it hasn't worked our company was going to implement it but dropped the idea.

HDR I think the iPhone will have.

There is nothing remarkable about this phone to me to want to switch from an ecosystem that I am invested in.

Though HDR is a nice touch.

And this is why you are awesome my friend, someone who chose to pay more for inferior gear and is proud to do so? Not sure pride is the right emotion, but hey ho.... good for you sir..

The only thing Samsung makes that's clearly superior is flash storage. I would buy their flash storage along with Sandisk.

Samsung's other products, you could find a better alternative.

It looks great. However, I prefer a beautiful design only when that design is also functional -- and I find a home button on the back of the phone next to the camera to be awkward. I hope Apple finds a solution to embed that within the screen.

There is no home button on the back; it's a heart rate monitor, camera and fingerprint sensor. Samsung is switching to onscreen buttons which have been on Android for years now. Samsung is placing a small section that is force sensitive (aka force touch) at the bottom where the home bottom would be on the display. So even if you don't see the home button on screen (Android immersive mode) you can still press the home area on the display with hepatic feedback to go home.
Now Samsung could still make the fingerprint reader "act" as a home button without a physical push but using the onscreen home button is more common on Android.

Unlike many others here, I'm not too keen on the design. Proportionally, it just doesn't look right. The edge-to-edge glass looks odd with the thin bezels at the top and bottom. And I wonder how many people will be accidentally running their fingers over the camera lens when they mean to touch the fingerprint sensor. Plus, how would a case work with this? I'd think it would make the edge-to-edge glass superfluous. Either that or you would use a case and take a chance of dropping the phone on its side or nicking the screen.

Everyone here is drooling over the S8 and claiming that iPhones have "huge" bezels. Yes, the bezels will be gone from future iPhones, that's a guarantee. Looking at the current iPhone, it does look a bit outdated, but the bezels are by no means "huge". And they serve a purpose of added protection and reducing accidental touches that is now gone from the S8 design.

On the back of the S8, I can't get over the square border around the round camera, and the Home button on the back. I'm glad Apple doesn't have such poor design sense.

Has Samsung inched forward on the design of a smartphone? Some ways yes, but some ways no. At the end of the day, it really is about the software+hardware integration, and Apple will always excel at this, hands down.

I will never get used to using Android. iOS kicks its butt.

Warm up the reality distortion field generator.

Looks like letting an accountant run the company has worked out really well!

I don't know about that. They make decent 4K TV's and I have a microwave that has been trouble free for over a year now. And I just got a open box Samsung dryer this Sunday from Best Buy for a crazy low price.
I've seen Samsung release some pretty crappy products in the past but it's the one company I could see making a major mistake (Note 7, exploding washers) and coming back better than ever. Not many companies I know can do that.

Okay...not going to lie...that looks like an awesome phone

It really does. It shows how inefficient the use of space on the iPhone is. The dimensions are roughly the same as the 6/6S/7 and they fit a 5.8" screen into the same body. Same with the Plus... they fit a 6.2" screen into a 5.5" body. Amazing.

What's your point? Marketshare is meaningless to individual users. What do I care if there's 1000 or 100,000 other people using the same phone as me? What matters is the experience, reliability and security in my own space. And iOS still has that in leaps and bounds over the competition. And third parties fill in the gap.

iOS is not going to be smothered by Android, no matter how much of the market is held by each.

This looks like a straight rippoff of Apple Patently posts and iPhone leaks.

Samsung = copy paste anything Apple is rumored to do... Try to beat them to the market... Such a boring strategy.
you can't be serious?

how can they be copying something that isn't even out yet or even copy plans when samsung were clearly planning this design since the S7 was out.

If anything apple are copying android with OLED/Wireless charging/iris scanning

I love all my apple products but the amount of comments from people who can only see out of their apple glasses is embarrassing.

I can't believe how arrogant some Apple defenders are here. You can't just dismiss your competitors forever. Keep pretending you'll have the edge over them you have right now forever, and the next thing you know they're outranking you left and right. This happened to companies like BlackBerry and Nokia back when the first iPhone debuted.

You might not like it, or the Samsung corporate culture (which by itself is a huge turnoff for me), but what does it take to be a little humble?

I'm too invested in the Apple ecosystem to ever leave but that's a nice looking phone. It will be kind of embarrassing if Apple goes with the rumored 3 phone line up this fall.
