Phones are very expensive. Why do I have to explain my use case that doesn't apply to you?

If i'm paying top dollar, I demand top performance. If you aren't, you're getting ripped off.

well if you want the fastest top performer it's the galaxy s8.it has the highest AnTuTu scrore and hit 6400 in geekbench so if benchmarks are your thing as of today the gs8 is the fastest phone out

to be fair, it's the third year in a row that Samsung is changing the design of its flagship phone quite substantially...something that we can only dream of with Apple.

Nah that's not what I meant. Walk outside dressed like an average person, and you will get treated as such. Walk outside dressed in some nice clothes, with nice accessories, and people will treat you better. People ought to take pride in themselves. Work hard. Afford nice things within your means, and live happily. Everyone wants handouts and no one wants to work hard, so they end up being that "average" person. This is why there are poor people and rich people. There are differences in the mindsets. Hopefully that makes sense, I tried to cram as much as I could into a small paragraph.
I don't disagree with much of what you wrote except for the part of everyone wanting handouts and nobody wanting to work hard. In my life, thinking of nearly everyone I interact with, it's generally far from true.

It has nothing to do with the iPhone though. When you have >50% market share (e.g. in the US), I find it impossible to believe it's some sort of exclusive thing. Basically everyone with a job in the Western world can buy one, even if that means saving a little bit. I spend a lot more on groceries every month (Switzerland is expensive) than the price of a new 7 Plus.

There's no accomplishment in having an iPhone. It's a mediocre, bog standard thing in the grand scheme of things. Nothing made in China that's no longer desirable next year and obsolete in 3 is worth a lot of pride over.

TAG Heuer. :apple:
I'm a fan of Tag (except for the overpriced smartwatch with the same hardware as any other $200 Android Wear watch out there) but honestly they're rather entry level in the Swiss watch world. I've seen super cool stuff here in Switzerland. Some of it really expensive. Lately Ulysse Nardin has been growing on me, I've seen their Freak Cruiser and the blue/white one is very interesting. A bit pricey though.

Can Apple really release the iPhone 7S with those huge bezels and home button? Wow. There had better be an iPhone 8 with a redesign.
Apple should drop 7s 7c 7e whatever entirety and make iPhone 8 and iPhone 8+ the only offering. The only difference between 8 and 8+ should be screen size and nothing else.

Design and make a manufacture a pair of wireless headphones that are as good as the Airpods and get back to me.
Hmm, there's lot of choice out there for wireless headphones with better or much better sound quality of the Airpods. I haven't listened to them myself but generally I've seen reviewers saying they're on par with the wired headphones supplied by Apple, i.e. rubbish.

Just going by the facts man. Apple still dominates. A bunch of cheap, crappy, free phones to up your market share doesn't mean a whole lot to me.
No argument from me.

Apple is still one of the best in the world at separating people from their money.

Again, not how I pick vendors. Enjoy spending more to get less.

As long as you are going into it with your eyes open, I see no victim.

It sure looks good but unfortunately that alone just doesn't do it for me. I own an S7 Edge and while it's aesthetically pleasing and the screen is amazing (albeit over saturated), it's a complete pain to use on a daily basis. Constant accidental touches all the time just by gripping the phone properly, you have to have it lay in your palm or hold it a certain way without touching the edges to avoid any unintentional touches. Between the two I always go back to my iPhone. Usability > fancy design.

I hope the iPhone 8 or whatever Apple decides to call it doesn't go the same "edge" route with their rumoured bezeless display.

big profits - and by extension, hopefully, big reserves - indicate good potential for long-term stability of the vendor.
I would agree with you in almost any market except technology.

Tech consumers are fickle and move as a herd.

Technologies are obsoleted on a moment's notice and the giants are slain by tiny upstarts.

Technology is a David and Goliath world, and you are arguing that Goliath is too big to fail.

I don't see it that way. I see iPhones as the best phone you can buy, or I'd buy a different phone. Especially as I'm supporting - to use your analogy 'the plumber who invented the toilet'.
The man who invented the toilet went broke and was then jailed for debts.

It's a perfect analogy.

They should just offer iPhone 8 and nothing else then add more models next year as more OLED screens become available

Single core is more important and that's where the iPhone is nearly double.

I take benchmarks with a grain of salt and real world performance shows the iPhone 7 on top.

Looks like Samsung did great things with the display but messed up with fingerprint reader and keeping same stuff from the s7 like the camera

Apple gonna **** on this phone easily

True, there is nothing like a Swiss Mechanical Watch. TAG is at the top of my price point however. I do enjoy reading some of the reviews of the time pieces you refer to. It truly is a gift the creations these Masters can produce. I don't see myself every owning a Smart Watch. There is just something about a beautiful hand crafted Time Piece that many don't understand. :apple:

real world shows the gs7 winning most and losing some in app loading and single core in Android means nothing when the os pushes single threads through all cores when it's needed.

watch the video I posted on a year old gs7 keeping up and beating the iPhone 7 in most cases.

the gs8 will out perform in GPU and overall system performance.if single core is so important why did apple go quad core?

It sure as hell won't with the 7s but yes iPhone 8 should be great

After using a Gear VR and being blown away for about a minute, I'm of the opinion using phones for VR is stupid, and VR as a concept is silly.

I sincerely hope Apple doesn't chase the VR craze like Samsung does, it's just gimmicky crap.

Winning most apps? I don't see that.

He's launching apps, not really using them. Also the video cuts in and out, it's not continuous succession of app usage. Check out phonebuff where he goes full bore non stop.

Lastly startup doesn't mean much when iOS has superior disk encryption, which would take longer.

Against a 6S no less. Notice how he actually uses some of the apps after launching.

I could never get down with any android phone because their snapchat videos look weird and with awful quality and they don't have iMessage.

Nah, a lot of people want handouts.

Sure the iPhone has a large market share. It's still more attractive than an Android phone. And yeah, a lot of people can afford it, but I was referring more to an expensive watch. I bet 98-99% of people on this forum cannot afford a nice Rolex. And that's fine, but having one is an accomplishment in and of itself, because again, most people don't have one. Notice, I didn't say they "can't". I simply said they don't, either because of poor money management, or poor education, etc. Anyone can work for something nice. But when you get it, it feels nice.

On another note, when I see someone with an Android phone, I automatically associate that with poor traits vs. when I see someone with an iPhone.

which is rather nuts when top tier android flagships are close to the price of all of the top iPhone phones.

It's like an android user thinking all people who use iPhones only use them because they are easy to use so only simple people buy them as they aren't tech enough to use all the android features.

as really my mother or sister who aren't techy at all would much rather use an iPhone as it's simply easy to use where on android they wouldn't ever use half of the features you can use android for.

go look at any other official 7.0 nougat tests on the exynos gs7.they have improved performance at least 30% over marshmallow.

the exynos gs8 scored 205k in AnTuTu is that not a top performer? it's 25k points higher than the iPhone and also pushing double the pixels

They keep tempting me over. If the iPhone 8 isn't good enough, well...

Hmmm, if you are going to wait until September to review iPhone 8 before making a purchase of Gax S8, then I'm thinking it won't happen. This won't look nearly as fancy and shiny in six months.

It's not going to be doing anything different in 6 months time. It will still be a fantastic device come september.
