That will be the key, what is it like in a hands on test. Will it have the wow factor and ease of use to back it up?

Exactly. If it really delivers then it will do extremely well with affluent customers and others who will sacrifice other needs just to have it.

I must say from what I’ve seen it is impressive and if it does well Apple will eventually follow. Foldable, rollable OLED is the future. LG also introduced their first rollable OLED TV.

It will be a small, niche market at first. Prices will go down over time, it will be refined and possibly go mainstream in a couple of years. It has the makings to be a cool gadget with a big wow factor. It’s been a while since that has happened.

And also the Xs Max and iPad Pro could potentially still outperform the Fold individually in benchmarks even with the lesser amount of RAM.

The current ipad pro's processor and gpu will outperform this device ....thats unquestionable.......the Galaxy Fold's price is because it took a lot of research and development to make this form factor (add on this years current snapdragon, ufs 3.0, limited availability, and ram specs and its correct). It did need some s-pen support though to make it sweeter but thats life for now.............

LOL how can you call it a phone? It’s more like Galaxy Pad, or MaxiPad, but not a phone.

Oh, and when this pads battery goes off it will be able to take a tank out. I’ll buy it for that reason. $2K for a foldable C4, is a good price.

Wow. Sorta makes Apple's prices look like bargain basement now. Samsung really DID borrow from Apple's playbook. Kudos though to the first 'is it a phone or is it a tablet, it's both!' device. I am sure its going to appeal to some folks. Seems a tad thick though to be easy to carry, ' Is that a Galaxy Fold in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?'
Well it’s not the first, but it looks pretty cool. But not $2,000+ cool. And I’m not interested in any Android, so there’s that.

Kudos to Samsung for being innovative. It looks a little thick however it’s their first edition, still pretty cool. However it’s an Android and it’s far too expensive for my taste.

My guess is the inner screen isn't truly folded but sort of rounded hence no crease and size of the hinge. What will be really cool is if they can make a screen that roll up like a scroll and you could pull it out and it becomes rigid like tape measure or slap bracelet but obviously it would need to be more rigid once unrolled.

Frankly, I no longer need a "phone". I use my "phone" to access the Internet, to transact business, to listen to music / watch films, etc., a LOT more than I ever make phone calls on it.

As an all-in-one, smart device, I think this is where the future is headed. I won't buy this thick a device (nor this expensive), but a few years from a now, a device about as thin as today's iPhones that folds up would be very attractive to me.

I agree with that 100%

I do not want to have a smartphone and a tablet, Notebook etc.

Finally some innovation in this sector. You'll get a tablet with your smartphone.
Maybe this pushes apple to innovate again. The iPhone XS is an overpriced joke

The iPhone X was great. The problem is that the XS didn’t improve upon it in a significant way and Apple knows this which is why they refused to sell it against the X for a $100 less.

When Apple has delivered a significant upgrade in the past they’ve always kept the previous flagship on the market. The only other I can think of is the iPhone 5 when the 5S released. TouchID was the main selling point and most would’ve taken the year old 5 with the same chassis. Thus why the released the 5C with the same guts in a cheap chassis.
