The frontier legit looks good. Especially in this sporty configuration!

Features sound great too. My interest is seriously piqued.

I like the look, but hold on: 1.3cm thick?? And to think one of the reasons I don't have an applewatch is that I think they're too clunky...

There's far less usable space, so what's your point.
Seriously, there's like 50% less space for text.
And it looks very thick, and the opposite of classy. My opinion : it is very ugly.
If you like it, good for you I guess.

Wow. 50% less space for text? So you just say whatever you feel regardless of how much it disagrees with the facts posted all around you? Good for you.

I'm just sad that Apple will never go round before few years... Changing now to round UI would make them feel like "we did it wrong"... And as everyone knows : Apple is perfect and never do any mistakes...

But I WOULD LOVE a round Apple watch

It's a nice looking watch for a man. Too big for my female wrists though. I've looked at the android wear watches and the gear S2 and and although they had some good looking watches I think the Apple Watch is better overall. It has better app support and solid support for mobile payments. Also it's easier to customise your watch with official OEM bands.

Lol it's a watch. It's either Square or Circular. By your statement anyone who creates that shape is copying someone else.

Believe me, is more to copying then the shape. I really admire some of Samsung latest products but they are notoriously known for copying others to the extreme and that is the only thing I don't like about this company.

I've had no interest in the Apple watch - too small, dainty and boring. The Samsung is in the right direction. I'm not a fan of black blank squares on my wrist either and that's what the Apple watch is most of the time.

probably has terrible battery life. LTE is still too expensive for such a small device.
The s2 had best battery life on the market, so it's not a bad base to work from..

It's a really nice looking watch, why do you think it's ugly?
He doesn't, it's just a pre determined response to when Samsung produce something nice. Why? I don't know. Playing to the gallery?

Have a nice day sir.

Wow, Samsung is kicking Apple's butt. Now if only I liked Android.
It's not android mate.... come on.. keep up.

Not read all the posts here (over 400) but apparently here in Australia we won't be getting the SIM one, something to do with eSIM?

If Apple creates something like that..that would be great. I like both apple and samsung..but I'm not gonna be blind by the truth. Any company that makes cool design, i'm all in.

Edit: I hear you. Plus side is: SS made the watch compatible with iphone....so they are making it possible. I gotta hand it to them for wanting apple fans to keep their phones and be able to use other products and not be restricted.

Agreed. If the New Samsung Watch proves worthy, I would consider it, mainly I would like the diversity of having a round Watch and square Watch with Apple. But then again, I have no doubt Apple will introduce a round Watch eventually. Also, the Apple Watch works so well with the iPhone, so it may be worth waiting for.

Yeah, they're called douchebags.

So, men who choose to sport larger watches are "Douchebags?" Why? Isn't this a choice of style and one should called a name for wearing a larger watch for a preference? Gee, What does the make men who wear watches that have small watch faces? Wait, never mind, don't answer that, I'm sure it will result in another cheap insult from you to men who wear watches.

Did you also find the iPhone's use of skeuomorphism for years to be "offensive"?
Totally! The pictures of stitched painted goat corpse skins in the calendar app were especially gross. I was OK with the tape reel in the podcast app though.
We've been through this discussion many times already. Those of us with both smartwatch shapes have found little difference in real life viewing of information.

Re: sometimes more scrolling. So what. Literally millions of people have chosen the smaller Apple Watch and it also must scroll more.

Re: square data in round face... the same limitations work the other way around... and yet that did not stop Apple from creating round watch faces and using round UI paradigms.

Here's the thing. If Apple had been the first one to come out with a circular always-on display... while all other companies were still using 1980s style rectangular displays turning on with a wrist flick... then fanboys would be singing the praises of Apple's innovation, uniqueness, and style advantage.
I would have been disappointed with a round watch from Apple. I never use the round watch faces, I think they are ugly and dumb. I sometimes use the Mickey Mouse face when I want a quirky i-don't-care-if-I-look-like-an-idiot look.
And everyone knows it. Including, I suspect, Apple, who is bound to one day come out with a round model themselves. At which time those who are dissing round displays, will look just as silly as people did for dissing larger phone displays, smaller tablets, or soon, OLED screens. You'd think that people would eventually learn from history!
I'm sure Apple had (maybe has) several round prototypes, they decided not to go that way, because they could not make it work. Or not yet, maybe.
The only reason for a round face is the pre-medieval mechanical sundial with pointy things going round and round with a layout which is a result of the ancient Babylonian astrologers' obsession with the number 12.
Some people might like having Babylonian astrology tech on their wrist, that is fine. I'm not one of them.

way too thick but it does look nice in the pictures. Wonder if it will look as nice in real life next too a normal sized wrist?

It really is. Although the S3 would be limited in what it could do with the iPhone. I will say the Apple Watch integrates so well with the iPhone, it's very seamless.
Apps are still poor on the Samsung watches so really that doesn't solve things but the always on display is nice to have. Still prefer my Apple Watch in fairness as I have the S2 gear which my dad now has.

Both very good smart watches and can't go wrong with either. Guess it depends how important apps are.

These measurements are wrong. Here are the actual measurements, which explain why they're essentially the same size:

Apple Watch 49.42 x 38.03 x 12.46mm
Samsung S 49.00 x 46.00 x 12.9mm

How do the differences between the official and the "actual" measurements come about?
