Well, seems you decide of either having a chin and less secure finger print sensor, or a notch and Face ID. I chose the latter.

Yeah, I wish they'd be symmetrical, but I'm curious- is the iPhone Xs chin bigger or smaller than the Note 10? The Xs obviously has symmetrical bezels, but I still wonder if the biggest bezel on the Note 10 (the chin) is smaller than the the Xs bezels?

When the iPhone first came out it was a thing of stunning beauty even though it lacked some basic features that Nokia handsets had had at the time. There seems to be no thought put into the aesthetic’s that made me have that wow factor with the iPhone 4 for instance or the great form factor of the iPhone 5/5S. It’s all just become so stagnant and way to expensive for what it is.

Moving forward I must admit I never thought I’d be thinking this way but it’s probably time for me to get out of the Apple ecosystem in the next years if things don’t change. No matter what features are in the new camera I can’t stand the look of the Xi at all but the Note 10 from both the front and back looks simple and clean which is what iPhones used to be like. As to iOS I really do like it but android has changed a lot too. I want a home screen with widgets and apps where I want them to go not just a grid of apps. Having used a few of the note variants I do really like them especially with the pen and looking at the Note 10 that is something I would buy over an iPhone Xi at this particular point in time.

Let’s just hope my replacement XS lasts a few more years and Apple gets back to making handsets that look truly beautiful rather than rehashing the same old design while squeezing in another lens here and another sensor there and sitting back and hoping the name “Apple” will be enough to keep the sales flowing rather than actually looking at the device as a whole and remembering they used to make devices of true beauty.

The android phones are all beginning to look like a commodity these days. Everybody is trying to solve the same issue. Some have addressed it with moving bezels, pop up cameras, notch look alikes, holes in-the screen under display cameras that seemingly suffer quality issues. Samsung higher end androids doesn’t really stand out anymore. Maybe iPhone doesn’t either, but I stay in it for “the ecosystem.”

I doubt they do. Sales have been dropping constantly to the point where they don’t even bother reporting them officially. They really need to get back to the drawing board and design something truly innovative and actually desirable.

I think you're confusing Apple with Samsung. They're the ones whose sales have gone off a cliff.

As to reporting, Apple was the ONLY company who actually reported sales. Not just for the iPhone but also for Mac and iPad. No other manufacturer reports sales, and Samsung USED to report sales (but in a vague manner). They stopped back in 2014 and it's been downhill ever since.

So I'm not sure why people are up in arms about Apple reporting numbers when they were the only ones who did so. I would think people should take others to task for HIDING their numbers, not at Apple for finally doing what the rest of the industry does.

Holy hell, the iPhone looks sooooo bloody dated next to the Note 10. Those large radius corners, and thick bezels that go around the whole phone, make the iphone look cheap and dated. It just looks so pathetic. Wake up Apple.

No need to argue. Every phone has it's audience. If you want the best, go with the Note series. If you want simplicity and have hard time with tech, go with an iphone. The Note 10 looks slick as f.

Phones have peaked. I think the sooner everyone realises that the better.

Apple clearly have, because they have started to put some energy into their computers again.

I think this can be a mostly valid point from a strictly aesthetic point of view, which is obviously subjective (so who am I to say you're wrong). But from a functional standpoint, how much do "zero bezel" phones add? Reducing bezel width to have a larger screen in a smaller device is good. However, you reach a point of diminishing returns pretty quickly given how you have to hold the device and the nearly universal use of cases. Developers or device makers can't effectively use the edge space for increased functionality because most people will have that portion of the screen covered up. The bezel and side-chassis also provide a small margin of error for damage mitigation during drops, etc..

Still the original king of phablets but for Note enthusiasts Samsung needs to expand on DeX and add Windows on ARM so it can be used as a laptop substitute along with Linux on ARM. 3.5mm audio jack removal wouldn't be the first false rumor as they've said the same thing about previous models that turned out to false. That would be a dumb move anyhow since I actively it for things such as running software and making bootable disks on the Apple IIe over 3.5mm audio port.

I have an iPhone XS-Max but the new iPhone looks like a silly joke compared to the Note 10 with those crazy cameras in the back and notch in the front.
Love the always on screen with these phones where you can quickly glance at it and see what time it is plus other information right there on the screen at all time.
Plus one major thing, in iMessage you can't type up a message and schedule it to go out later. Easy as pie on Android.
I used to use this easily 5 or 6 times a week when I had an Android phone.

Here's the matter of fact of both companies sales:

love the squared off Note design but I was hoping for a more squared off S10+. I liked the horizontal camera module on the S10+ and right aligned front camera compared to the center.

I can probably deal with the vertical camera but that centered front facing camera is killing it for me. I'll stick to my S10+.

The curved screen and removal of headphone jack is a turnoff, other than that its a great phone, I'll probably trade in my Note 9 for it as the upcoming iphones don't look that interesting.

Isn't this thing aimed at professional users? I'm sure there won't be flocks of people looking to buy this as they already have one of the S10 series phones. It does look like a nice phone though, the finish makes it look premium, which is important in a flagship model.

No.

First off, those IDC numbers have already been debunked. They're so bad even a Grade 6 math student could explain how wrong they are.

Second, their figures for Samsung include all phones they sell, including those $50 disposable ones. They don't break out devices like the Galaxy S, which has had continuous sales drops since the Galaxy S4 (their last phone that actually sold really well).

How can you be a professional using an operating system with poor quality Fisher Price Apps?

DEX is DOA as is Windows on ARM with those pathetic processors trying to run a full OS.

Well, seems you decide of either having a chin and less secure finger print sensor, or a notch and Face ID. I chose the latter.

I chose last years note 9. I prefer a chin with finger print reader on the back. I hate front finger print readers. Just can't use them. And notches and hole punches just seem like a generic loopholes that were stuck in right now.

Yes, because all the bad guys are trying to figure out how to hack Mike MA's fingerprints to get into his phone.
