It's not debatable. The professionals at DX0MARK who are paid have concluded Samsung have better cameras.
Sure it's debatable. I buy what is best for me; what I like best after my own product reviews.

The 7s has nothing new.Its an iPhone 7 with a u[graded CPU and worless charging.
Can you prove that statement? I'm not saying it's true or false, but Apple without fail always has surprises the analysts don't know about.

I am talking facts , not subjective, opinions. Lab tests have concluded that the s8 is better.

I sure can. Look at the home pod firmware. Every unique feature relates to the iPhone 8.

The 7s will get a better waterproofing certification, glass back, wireless charging. That's all.

Remember Apple doesn't want the 7s to steal the 8's show. And so from hereon in the iPhone and iPhone plus lineup will keep languishing like the iPad air lineup while we have to shell out more than a grand for the real upgrades aka the pro lineup.

And I've got a few people who lost 3-4, so what's the actual point of that comment?
Losing the stylus is not a real knock against the Note, those things are easy to lose in general no matter what device you have. Being a bland almost copy of the S8 is a knock though.

I don't think you can knock off your own devices. Also it be fair the S8 was only released 6 months ago. You can't expect Samsung to reinvent the wheel every 6 months. If they only had one device like Apple, the year over year updates would be bigger.

Already showed you a scientific benchmark of the S8 having better battery life

Facts strung together make opinions been through this before. My eyesight is the ultimate scientific judge not some third party.

As to what you believe the "7s" will get in terms of upgrades; those are more than enough to trade in my 6s, but apple will undoubtedly have more than you believe in terms of the list of items.

As far as the price; people will pay and it will be a sell-out.

The new iPhone is the best looking iPhone in my eyes. Looks ultra modern. I love the chrome surround and I don't even mind the white bezel. The camera bump has never bothered me; why would it? The phone looks very Apple in a way the iPhone 6-7 have not. The Note 8 is attractive but not very inventive or distinctive.

Totaly agree. It is taking its identity back - the identity the pre iphone6 phones had and still has.

It's not an upgrade from the iphone 7. And the 7s is going to look very stupid next to the iPhone 8mwith its modern design. Apple does not want the 7s to eat into the sales of the 8. It's,like they are purposefully making it look ugly relative to the 8 so as to entice customers to pay 1k

We will never know if it's a sellout because Apple won't distinguish between the model sales numbers. It will be supply constrained thanks to the oled display. I expect some marketing statements about the iphonem8mselling out due to demand from Tim Cook but no concrete numbers.

What I do know is that a grand is a lot of money and many in my social circle are just going to laugh at the price.

To me it's an upgrade and I bought the iPhone 7 this year as well.

I could care less how one unreleased phone looks against another unreleased phone looks against another; I buy what is best for me. I suspect many people do, without using Youtube as an "authoritative" source.

As far as supply constraints how do you explain every iPhone release in the last few years? Oh yeah, Apple was waiting for oled panels?

Might be worth waiting until, you know, Apple releases their new phone to complain about the look, rather than complaining at Apple about mockups that other people have cobbled together.

These mockups are spot on the last few years.

The iPhone looks even worse from the front with the top notch.

I am hoping it will be black and blend in with the background.

Currently using the S8+ as my main phone.
I already pre-ordered the Note 8.
Also have an iPhone 7+.

The factors that really have to convince me to go for the iPhone 8. Battery size/life, how good Face ID is, and some type of wow factor. Otherwise, I'll just stick with the iPhone 7+ and wait for a 8S.

I'm concerned about battery life, cause my S8+ destroys my 7+ with onscreen life. 7+ has 2900mAh and S8+ has 3500mAh. The Note 8 will have 3300mAh. The Note 8 will be slightly less life or the same as the S8+. Which is very good. The questions is how much difference (if any) will the battery be between the 7+ and iPhone 8? And how much of a difference will the OLED screen make? I'm wondering if the 7S+ will get the biggest battery, but I'm not interested in that phone at all.

Do you swap sims between the two phones, or do you have two numbers/sims? The constant iMessage on/off is what worries me about switching between the two systems.

I was once a perpetual phone switcher. I've been using a 6S+ for the past 2 years. It is time for an upgrade. Loving the note 8 and considering switching back to android, but my biggest fear is losing iMessage.

How is the current state of android-iPhone MMS? Years ago it was awful. A picture message sent from an iPhone would turn into some weird video on the receiving android. Just a lot of odd problems sending pics and videos. I was curious if that has been fixed.

I'm thinking about buying a GS8+ to play around with.

Note 8 is beautiful. iPhone looks like **** compared to it(at least the white model). Apple needs to remove that UGLY camera hump.

Well you see I am the opposite. The iPhone 8/ pro is too small for me. And I'll be loose real estate over my 7 plus.

I do prefer iOS but the iPhone pro doesn't sound interesting to me.

The main thing is that it's going to be too small, especially when the competition are offering much bigger displays.

The price is also putting me off. On principal because I don't see anything cutting edge with the iPhone 8 hardware to warrant such a price. Particularly when android OEMs have offered the same for less for some time.

iOS 11 on the iPhone is a damp squid. Great on the iPad which prompted me to get the new 10.5 inch pro but not the new iPhone.

Just curious, doesn't the iPhone 8 have a 5.8 inch display? With the function bar it would still be 5.5. How's it smaller?

Actually both. But iMessage has never really been a problem for me. Nowadays it usually deactivates on it's own, and that's on my Macbook and iPad too. Sometimes I do have to manually deactivate it. The only rare issue I had lately is messages didn't get to me from one specific iPhone user. I had to tell her to delete the whole conversation with me on her phone, and that solved the issue.

I honestly only use SMS for actual text, and for notifications that I get from my banks, credit cards, and etc. I mostly use WhatsApp for MMS, cause damn near everyone I know uses it on Android and iOS.

So it's really up to you and how you feel you can get along without iMessage, which is the absolute best for iOS to iOS messaging. So if your social circle is strictly iMessage users, it might be a struggle.

But MMS through your carrier is complete garbage compared to any messenger service.

I'm very curious how the function bar will work, and how productive it will be. I think Apple will have some tricks up it's sleeve with that.

It has a 5.8 inch display even assuming that the function bar goes away when not being used, with the new aspect ratio it will end up having less real estate than on my 7 plus.

More importantly there can't be a high end 6.3 inch phone on the market and I don't own it. In previous years the note which hasn't been available where I live since 2014 (note 4) was only .2 inches bigger than the plus version of the iPhone. However this year the difference in screen size is significant to me.

There weren't any constraints. You would get a device within a month. It took just 2 weeks for the new iPad pros to be back in stock. I am expecting December till whet ample stocks of all colours of the iPhone 8.

I spend money to upgrade, not sidegrade and only the iPhone 8 is aN upgrade. 969 for upgrading to a glass back and wireless charging lmao. I am not spending a grand on that. I would rather get a GTX Titan XP. Both products are cash grabs but hey at least there's no competition for the latter.

I think the function bar is probably just Apple's version of on screen navigation buttons. However they may prove me wrong. In which case I'll be £1,000+ out of pocket.

Is that why it took two months to people to get AirPods? Oled?

Well okay, we each decide the best way to spend our dollars. I like to upgrade to newer model iPhones and this time around for people, choices, allegedly.

I'd rather get an iPhone than a gtx titan xp. But that's me.

I was talking about iPhones and iPads and macs, not accessories. It's not like better headphones than the AirPods weren't available at that time.

I have never encountered any constraint buying an Apple, product after release apart from yellow tint and he like.

Enjoy, your purchase whatever it is. I probably would have gotten the 8 but I just plonked 1k on a maxed out iPad Pro 12.9 and any upgrade with just 64 gigs of storage doesn't sit well with me nor does a 7S the design of which I have spent more than 2000 dollars on and has only iterative updates.

That's not fair ! You can't compare a dummy to a physical phone.... One of then isn't even out yet and subject to change. I don't care how good the rumors are.

Can someone explain to me why the camera module is:
1) black on a white phone?
2) oval instead of a rounded square?

Is that equivalent to people had to wait for the s8 to get pink screen? In the US people had a delay in getting their products after ordering anjust released product. I never waited but I purchase my products in November and December.

Well enjoy your purchase as well; whatever operating system it may be.

I look forward to the September reveal such be interesting.

Rumors show it to be a an all glass design with a steel frame. Likely a better camera, wireless charging, updated CPU, and potentially a screen resolution bump, but I doubt the last part.
Glass design would be good but then my iPhone is going to be covered by a case to prevent the glass from being scratched or shattering so its irrelevant to me. Apart from glass it looks exactly the same as the current 7 from all angles

Wireless charging isn't really wireless. Just like the Android competiton its got a pad connected to the plug, and I have no issues with traditional wired charging. The convenience is nice but again not worth $969.

The iPhone 7 Plus I have is still monstrously fast and all apps load quickly so a CPU bump isn't useful to me. There was microscopic difference in image quality between a 6s and a 7 camera so whatever improvements in this area would be miniscule.

The iPhone 8 has a completely different display technology, an overhauled design, 3d sensors, FaceID, no bezels, AR support, a new function bar, an always on display. Now THIS is an upgrade.

If Apple updated the 7S LCD with ProMotion and TrueTone, I would have gotten it but Apple won't implement them as that would make the 7s superior to the 8 in some aspects. The 7 already has DCI P3 so they would import the same display into the 7s to save costs as the 8 costs too much to make to begin with.

I don't think the 8 costs too much to make. Apple is a business. They will sell the 8 for much more than they pay for it to be produced. This isn't a charity.
