6GB of RAM? Android is pretty good at memory management, so 6GB is pretty pointless. It's not as if you're gonna run multiple apps at the same time on a tiny phone screen. I guess some people do, but still 6GB?

In a few more years, maybe. But now...that's just compensating...

iPhone 8 is literally a dumb phone next to the superphone Galaxy Note 8. Even for basic consumption iPhone lacks HEVC media decoding until IOS 11 is released because Apple wanted to squeeze more profit from not licensing the codec. Something that Samsung devices have had for years. It doesn't have pen for paperless workflow, productivity and creativity. And, IOS on iPhone is still limited with regards to split screen multitasking and background multitasking. iPhone 8 is still a blown up iPod with calling capabilities.

With that said I'm disappointed the Galaxy Note 8 didn't come with Windows 10 DeX to make it a god phone that eliminates the need for a work and home PC and justify the nearly $1K price tag.

Well if Samsung users are using the DeX module to turn their phones into a PC like I do at times.....the 6 gb ram comes in handy. Since I already use it with my S8 plus, I would welcome a couple more GB of ram. This is something a iPhone cannot do at all.

Funny to see so many complaints about the camera sticking out a bit. Seems we have some that care far far far more about what their phone looks like than how it functions.

I bet these same people put a case on it that sticks out far further than the camera.

No case for me and my phone wobbles on the table. Apple is known for great industrial design (which I prefer not to cover with a case) and the camera hump is just one giant wart.

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't give a crap about the "bump" on the back. The fact that some have commented saying they're not buying based on that alone is ridiculous to me. I recall seeing the same exact comments last year with the 7 Plus, but you're all still loving that, right? And by the way, this is actually rumoured to be thinner than the 7 Plus's bump. Personally, I think it looks gorgeous, even more so than the S8 and note 8. And I have a feeling it will look even better when we actually, you know, see the final version? Especially once those of us who are buying have it in our hands.

Hopefully it doesn't come with those ugly certification marks on the back. More recent iPhones haven't had them, like my 7 Plus. Not sure why whoever made the dummy felt the need to include them.

I actually thought it was an interesting comparison to give us an idea of what we could possibly see. It's a rumors site, so in the lead-up to the actual reveal and the actual news articles based in reality that we will eventually be seeing, this isn't such a bad little video. It is purely speculative and doesn't pretend to be otherwise.

The dummy model used here looks a bit rough around the camera. While it's possible the camera module will protrude quite a bit, I can't imagine it will look as rough and poorly finished as the one shown. It's wise for people to use this video as a rough guide and nothing more. I certainly wouldn't base a purchasing decision on it.

I agree it's a rumor site, so this kind of comparison may make sense here, but with the event being 2 weeks away, we still don't really seem to have a nailed down idea as to what the phone will look like. There still seems to be a lot up in the air, other than, "the entire front will be a screen", which doesn't leave much of an option other than a solid black front seeing as mock-ups never function :)

Yeah, let’s compare with the iPhone 7 dummy...

iphone-7-dummy-leak-macrumors-1.jpg

Indistinguishable from the real thing! It has an Apple logo and all!!!

The 7 mockup was the same phone as the 6S, except the horizontal bands on the back were removed. The camera bump was wrong and smart connector never made it to the 7, so if anything, this is poor support if you're trying to argue the mockups end up resembling the product.

Unless you are being sarcastic :)

If you're going to compare camera locations & bumps, the best comparison would be,
"Which one are you most likely to accidentally put your hand over?" :D

I'd be more worried about scratching or cracking the camera glass cover due to protrusion.

holy hell and I thought the iPhone camera was ugly... Note is a great phone but that camera looks ghastly and horrific.

It cracks me up the new specs they make up...
Now, instead of referring to processor by its name, speed, & number of cores- it’s a “10nm processor”.
Lol, another meaningless spec to regurgitate when the fanboys rattle off a memorized list of what makes their Sammie teh awesome.

Comparing a real announced phone to a rumored dummy phone. You’re drunk, MR.

I'd rather have an amazing camera than a less beautiful camera back...which I'll get used to after a couple of days anyway.

Unless you guys stare longingly at the backs of your phones for days on end thinking what could have been.

Most high end mobile processors are fast enough and already reaching the point where you don't notice performance issues because of software optimizations. 10 nm is the latest processor tech so its a better way of saying its a more advance processor technology. Your new Apple chip will be 10 nm as well.

You can easily Google the speed and cores so no need to crack up.

Did I say Android, or did I say the Note 8? Im pretty sure 6GB of ram will make a difference from any other phone running Android.

I'll just except your response as a deflection, being you ignored my past points. For a second time, I'm referring about strictly the platform, NOT the technical specifications what makes the device better over the other. That's subjective in a stance depending how the user takes advantages of the power. But the operating platform as a whole, is an entirely different entity that offers differences between the platforms for what someone prefers.

The process node determines battery life, clock speed, sustained performance without throttling, felt heat output, etc. It's more important than other gimmicks like Retina, 3D touch, ProMotion...

The Note 8 is a great piece of hardware, but the iOS experience sells me over Android any day. The Hardware euphoria eventually wears off, it eventually comes down the software experience.

I don't know, I still marvel at the design of my jet black iPhone every once in a while... it looks like a perfectly symmetrical onyx stone or some kind of futuristic alien technology.

I'd also argue it's about hardware and software and the integration of the two. Other than OLED, Samsung has trailed Apple in hardware for the most part... CPU, GPU, M9, secure enclave, dual lens camera, Touch ID and soon, hardware for facial recognition (that's actually secure) and possibly AR. Their hardware is good for Android though.
