My wife uses her EarPods with her iPhone 7.

But using an adapter is not the same as a native solution. It’s one more thing you have to remember to carry. Also they stopped supplying the adapter with iPhone X.

What? She has lightning connected EarPods. As far as the adapter, I don’t have to remember to carry it as it’s part of the the daily toolkit.

I understand why one would feel compelled to compare these two phones as they are direct competitors. However, I'm not certain either one is meant to sway someone to the other side. These are the "budget" phones of their generation so they are meant to be a cheaper alternative to someone already in that ecosystem. I may be wrong but I believe that if someone changes sides, it's only for the best and brightest of the other side. I mean, if you're going to cheat, then do it right.

I want to use my Bose wired headphones with iPhone which needs the adapter. The sound quality blows the AirPods out of the water.

To be fair Apple have always made crap earphones though. I use them because I can get them in abundance due to company phones being stripped of their accessories where I work before they are handed out. I agree the adapter is a shoddy workaround as not everybody likes Bluetooth nor trusts it yet. It’s good to see Samsung keeping it on current flagships and I hope they continue to do that.

Kind of like LeBron fanboys still screaming that he's the G.O.A.T. even with 6 finals losses vs. 6 finals wins. There's no getting through to these people. The only way they'd admit a phone was superior was if one slapped them in the face with an Apple logo on it. Otherwise, the brand worship will continue.

If that's your metric for determining the "GOAT" in any sport you seriously need to stop engaging in sports debates. Its so much more nuanced and complex than what your feeble argument brings to the table.

oh, and btw, Bill Russell is on line 2.

6 finals losses is a catastrophic failure. You aint GOAT with that on your resume.

This is so off-topic i'm going to leave it alone; but sure you can be with the achievement of reaching more Finals than MJ with the junk he dragged there nearly single-handedly. But it's a nuanced discussion you choose not to have since there is an actual debate to be had.

You're as utterly biased to one side of that topic as the Apple people you rail against in the other.

Unbelievably ironic.

And that is all from me. You're paper-thin and intentionally specific argument isn't even worth pusuing any longer anyway.

And keep ignoring that guy with 11 titles, tearing down your own rationale.

He dragged junk like Wade, Bosh, Kyrie and Love against WHO in the East... Demar Derozen? LOL

His first year out in the West and he can't even make the playoffs. Sorry bud, context matters. LeBron is overrated.

Even if you wanna count rings alone, LeBron falls out of the top 10 ever, easily.

Ah the "good ole days" where iPhones used to have headphone jacks. The 2016 iPhones are only 2.5 years old, yet it feels long ago. What a joke? Once Samsung removes the headphone jack from their phones? It will be annoying.

We need to get Don Mattrick hired at Apple. "Want to use a headphone jack? We made a phone, called the iPhone SE. You can go use that."

Oh, there are so many ways to go about arguing why the Xr is better. I don’t even know where to begin...
Yes if you are a fanboy you will say that.
But if you are realistic and neutral things will be different.
The only aspect of Xr that one can argue if they prefer to S10E or not is the OS.
Other than that, the hardware and design it’s pretty much no brainer which one is better.
so I don’t know where you think you can begin.

So use them with the adapter. But let’s not make up hypothetical situations. In this case I would simply plug in the adapter.

If you use multiple devices you will have to remove the adapter from the headphones and keep plugging them back for iPhone. Just carry around an iPad 2017 and an iPhone X and you will face this issue. You are bound to lose the adapter while switching. Don’t forget the dongles too for Apple laptops.

My use case is okay for me. YMMV. Many models to chose from that have the features at the price point you want.

Yeah it's so overblown and the arguments against using an iPhone in this thread are so far off base because at the end of the day, those of us who choose to continue to use iPhones do so for our own reasons, but somehow those reasons aren’t good enough for the anti-iPhone commenters.

I'd agree - and this is from someone who just switched from an iPhone to the S10e.

For me, the argument was pretty simple:

1. I wanted good reception (I live in the middle of nowhere in the Ozarks.)
2. Considering that, I wanted something of similar size to the iPhone 8 I just gave up.
3. My limit was $800.

That narrowed it down to the Xr and the S10e for me. With that being the case, I tested them both out, and between the AMOLED screen and the better reception on the S10e (I get 3 bars with it @ my house whereas the iPhone 8 and the Xr both get 1 or 2 at best), I chose the S10e.

With that said, I'm absolutely not anti-Apple; I have no intention of getting rid of Apple Music, and I'll gladly switch back if Apple comes up with something that sways me. For now, I'm perfectly happy with the S10e, just as I was with the iPhone 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. *thumbs up* Others come to different conclusions, and the amount of vitriol directed at people who make decisions different than them is ridiculous.

Your use case was still achievable with the jack. Taking away the jack only created a problem and solved nothing except perhaps increase AirPods sales for Apple.

Taking away the jack didn’t create a problem for me. And yeah I finally knuckled under and bought the AirPods. Absolutely love them. But let’s be clear they are terrific to own and use.

So my counter question, what are you saying that’s ‘better’ about the S10 phone over the iPhone? Not that you don’t have your reasons, but you didn’t post anything to lead the reader why you believe what you do.
(I.e. Is it the fingerprint sensor under the display, the return of the 3.5 mm Jack, expandable storage, etc.)
I always like to think that ‘better’ is a subjective term, because it completely varies what you consider better over what the next person might disagree with.

Well, there might be some subjective factors, but there is nothing subjective about display resolution, notch and bezel size, missing audio jack, battery life etc...

No one had a problem with the jack. AirPods could still be used with it. The only reason it was removed was to force people to get AirPods.

I have 4 other Bluetooth headsets, including Bose qc ii. I wasn’t forced to get AirPods. Don’t understand the impression they are the only headset on the market, as if it’s an all or nothing proposition. Not only that the removal of the headphone jack didn’t stop me from using my wired headsets.

The AirPods work best with the iPhone compared to the other wireless gear on the market and surprisingly are also great value unlike their phones. Apple knows this and they exploited it. People are most likely to get the AirPods over the other wireless headphones.

Removal of the jack did nothing for those who were on wireless but created a problem for those on wireless with the adapter being a constant source of nagging to go wireless.

AirPods are similar to the galaxy buds that work best with a Samsung phone and creates a headache with other phones.

You are also speaking for the masses. You don’t know the feelings of a hundred million customers without a headphone jack. To me it is not an issue, nor my wife.

well, small is avery relative term, but for many reasons, you can't say XS is small, first one is the first iPhone came out was 3,5" so, XS is comparatively larger, second, you can't handle it properly with the average hand size, and third, there aren´t many larger sizes (in iOS ecosystem) so saying is "small" is far from be accurate. You can say "I would like a bigger iPhone as to me, even large iPhone as XS are still small"

My fav size it's been always iPhone SE and this is my actual iPhone, what is this then? a nano iPhone?
