I'm only a few miles away from East Kilbride and mine is delayed. Not really sure how they have worked out these delay's!

I suspect that ripcord ordered a 4g model, or a 16gb. The delayed items seem to be mainly 32 or 64gb wifi's.

Alternatively, he may just have been one of the lucky ones.

Why are you emailing the CEO about late delivery? That's embarrassing.

I'd agree if the issue was just late deliveries.

However, the issue does seem to be due to some arbitrary decision that people in specific geographical areas should be treated differently, and an apparent unwillingness to acknowledge or discuss the problem.

I think that is worth letting the CEO know about.

I wonder if all these people who are agreeing that emailing Tim Cook is a Bas idea are all getting their iPads within the next 3 days.

I agree that emailing him is a good idea, if you want something done about the appalling way Apple have handled this. His team (let's be honest here, Tim Cook is not going to read it, although he will have a team to read it for him, and if they get a swathe of emails complaining about the same poor service issue, it will be brought to his attention) may well be instructed, and given authority (over and above anything any CS Supervisor can do), to get this resolved, fast.

So yes, I totally agree with emailing him (his team).

I am, but I think it's a good idea.

If my assumption about what happened is correct, this is just the sort of issue that I would want to know about if my company was doing, if for no other reason than to find out who made the decision and have a word with them.

I also think that those who have been bumped should get some sort of acknowledgement that it was wrong. I doubt anything can be done to get them their iPads in time, but there is a customer relations issue here that I think they need to deal with.

It's worth remembering that the email from Apple suggested that it is a courier issue. I honestly can't think what sort of courier issue would create a 5 day delay that can be predicted a week in advance. It's hard to avoid the suspicion that Apple lied to their customers. If I was CEO I'd certainly want to know about my employees lying to customers.

Mine is a White 16gb wifi which is delayed.

I think you were unlucky then.

From my observations, it seems that 4g models seem OK (I don't remember seeing any 4g's being delayed), whilst wifi's have generally been delayed but you are more likely to be OK if it's a 16gb model.

I could be wrong though, it's just based on what I picked up on here, nothing scientific or anything. :)

Wifi 16gb, which being cheapest is bound to be most popular in scotland :p

If my theory is correct then it isn't necessarily the most popular which were delayed, just the ones that for some reason had been allowed to over order in the UK (and not necessarily in Scotland).

They may not have had the same allocation of each model, so the ones which were over ordered could just have easily been the least popular ones.

Fookers ain't phoned me :(

Prob cos am Scottish and am in N Ireland, double bubble lol....

Nice one Apple. I can't think of two more volatile and stubborn nations to try a tactic like this on. Aside from the Israelis and Palastinians of course, but even if they did agree to join together in an issue like this they'd still be no match for mad carrot topped celts with a grievance.

Hope you guys get a solution very soon. Slanj...

Are many of youse still on processing order and "delivered" on the 16th even though you got the shi tty email about delayed delivery for the 20-21 date

Where in Scotland do you live? There have been reports of a couple of Scottish orders not being delayed, but these were both in Glasgow (city, rather than outskirts).

I live in the Kingdom of Fife! But I am getting it delivered to my office in Edinburgh, namely so I can get my mits on it faster and my colleagues can check it out etc.

Ah, that's maybe it. Glasgow city centre and Edinburgh city are probably the only two places that escaped the dreaded delay email.

Well done on your smart thinking in terms of getting it delivered there.

Just wondering if anyone who has been contacted by Apple regarding the delay, has been offered any sort of compensation or goodwill gesture by them for the hassles?

Same here.

But the woman I spoke to at Apple said the status won't change until my iPad has reached the Apple distribution centres in the UK. I assume at that point we'll get the "preparing for shipment" status. So.... our iPads aren't inside the UK yet.

That's very interesting snippet of information, and if that is accurate then it would infer that upon placing an order at, say, midnight on the 7th, your iPad was in stock and in a UK warehouse ready to be processed and commence the shipping process (as has been apparant with all South of the border orders).

However, sometime over the next 24 hours, your order (that was placed well ahead of many many English orders) has been re-allocated to someone else (not in Scotland), resulting in the iPad which was ordered and in stock and physically in the UK at the time of your order, now needing to be filled by stock not yet in the UK, hence the 5 day delay while stock is en route.

This would explain why a courier would need 5 extra days to deliver...it's because it isn't a courier issue, it was either an Apple system error, which reallocated Scottish orders to England/Wales, or someone made a conscious decision to segregate Scotland (and NI), and reallocate stock to remain in one "more manageble" area.

Either way, it has been an extremely poor example of logistics by Apple, and a very unfair way of allocating stock, and being as small as the UK is, you wonder how they ever get any sort of delivery co-ordination for somewhere as large as the US, without major foul ups.

What I had imagined was that the system took more orders than they had allocated for preorder stock. Meaning more had to be shipped from outside the uk. They then decided to choose the people who lived in these so called "harder to reach areas and delay us until more iPads have either been shipped here or possibly manufacturered.

Either way, it was their error and they have offered no explanation and no compensation for this enormous mishap.

I'm in Glasgow G14 area and my iPad is on its way for delivery on Friday 16th. Currently sitting in the synchreon warehouse in Hinckley.
