i sent apple an email the other day and got this reply

Dear Stephen,

Thank you for contacting the Apple Online Store.

I apologise for the delay in response to your query. We are currently experiencing a high volume of emails.

The reason for the delay in delivery for your order is due to the fact that your location is in an area where we cannot deliver to as quickly as other areas in your country.

At the time you placed your order, our systems were not able to distinguish these outlying areas and the differences in delivery times. Hence, all orders on that day were quoted on March 16th delivery.

We are working to correct these system limitations with the carriers to do everything possible to get your order to you as quickly as possible.

We hope that you will accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards

Yonk...........

Well looks like if we want one on the 16th then we are gonna have to go cue at 7/8am.... Ekkkkkk I hate early mornings....

whats sort of stock is currys pc world going to be getting ?

if the pads are in the countries can't see them being sent until friday or monday at this rate

At this stage I'm hoping they don't get sent out before Friday morning so I can queue, buy one then cancel the pre-order.
Though that's just me - it really sucks for those people that aren't able to queue or even get near a retail shop on Friday.
Pretty disgraceful behaviour from Apple Logistical Department - fair play to all that emailed and complained.

thats what i was thinking
if i can get down to currys in lisburn, bug store i might get my order then i would just cancel it as soon a i get it

just my thinking

There is one possible glimmer of hope. There's at least a chance the iPads will arrive at our local UPS or TNT depots on Friday 16th, albeit not in time for them to go out for delivery that day. If we can track them to the depot at some point during business hours on Friday, they should allow us to collect them from the depot with some form of ID.

I did this before quite a while ago when my iPhone 4 delivery, which I bought unlocked from the online Apple store, was delayed by one day on geographical grounds (I'm in Belfast). The iPhone arrived at the UPS facility in Mallusk at about 3pm on release day - too late for them to deliver but time enough for me to go and get it myself. In my experience, couriers will not deliver on a given day unless they receive the item the night before or very early that morning.

Here's hoping..

Half the problem is that UPS doesn't have a dedicated depot in Northern Ireland. It partners with Countrywide Freight. The depot is on Cloughmore Road in Mallusk. I bet that's part of the reason for the NI delays - TNT deliveries from Apple have always been on time, in my experience. We're probably saddled with UPS and their partner..

well i week to ni iPad day, well i mine should be here then

but trying to find out what currys and pc world are doing at the min

I'm gonna wait to see if there is any movement by Thursday. If not I'm gonna cancel and go queue at the Apple Store in Belfast.

I know right now 4 days doesn't seem like a long wait, but I just know when everyone else is playing with their shiny new iPad on friday I'll regret not going to the store to pick one up.

Am doing the same.....

I just remembered something that the Executive Relations guy said to me on the phone yesterday (funny how these things just come back to you).

I kept asking thinkgs like, is the 21st a definite date, or could it slip again or come forward, and his answer was always the same to these date related questions, he just said, I will phone you on Wednesday with any update.

Just thinking back, it didn't register at the time, but he must have said he would phone me back on Wednesday at least 5 times during our two conversations. And his final words at the end of our last chat was (something like) I will speak to you on Wednesday.

Now, I may be putting 2 and 2 together, but maybe he knew that the next batch of iPads was due to arrive in the UK on Wednesday, but obviously couldn't say that, so maybe for us poor delayed people, things might start to move out of Processing and into something a bit more positive after Wednesday.

Just me thinking out loud...

I asked the woman I spoke to the same question. I asked would I definitely have my iPad for 20th because I didn't have much faith in Apple's delivery dates now and I told her I was travelling next week so I needed to know. She aske what date I was travelling and I said the 21st and she said "I can't really say but I think you'll have your iPad before then".

So maybe there is something to this "Wednesday" thing.

probably getting shipped on wednesday, if they are in the uk we might have them soon, but if there coming from china, it will be tuesday at the earliest

the ones getting theirs on friday their pads were ship on friday, so thats a weeks postage

Would it have anything to do with the bank holidays in Northern ireland this weekend due to St. Patrick's Day? Just a thought.

I live in Northern Ireland and I ordered the 16GB White Wi-Fi version on the 7th and it still says processing order. It's really unfair especially after waiting 4 hours to get on the site and ordering before many people in England that already have their orders shipped.
