The trend has been..... Tuesdays announcements, Friday launches!
So Im guessing... 16th or 23rd!

One thing I am supprised that has not been added to ipods is an am/fm receiver.

I would say that iPod Shuffle is most likely to change. Perhaps only in capacity, but it is an older technology in comparison to the others. That said, there is not a great deal to improve on it.

Friday? Interesting prediction. Mind me asking what lead you to this date?
They like Tuesday keynotes, but many press events have been Fridays. I get the feeling (without actually checking) that they often pick Fridays near the end of a month for these events, so even though the Back to School promo is over before Friday the 19th, I picked the following Friday.

Actually, I cheated a bit. I used my Magic 8 Ball to double-check my predictions.

AM is not possible - they require large antennae to work. FM won't be put in either as it goes completely against the philosophy of the iPod, yes you can get the FM remote accessory for the classic and nano but it never has and never will be a built-in part of the iPod.

I don't know, over the past couple of years Apple no longer is very regular about which days of the week they announce or launch new products (possibly aside from keynote speech events). iirc.

I'm asking any of you true apple fans a question here. I'm waiting to buy a MBP and if there is any chance of it getting updated in September, I need to know if there is a trend or an exact date guesstimation orb when the new iPod and/or MB and MBP would be announced. I'm headed to college soon and want to get the best of the best and not get slammed with an old MBP right when the new one comes out. So is there a trend on a release date for this from past years?

Using the links provided in the Buyer's Guide, it appears that Apple announced both the iPod classic and iPod Nano on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, and the year before that in 2006 the two were updated on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The iPod touch was updated on Tuesday Feb. 5, 2008.

Also, the most recent MacBook updates (starting with the most recent) occurred on a Tuesday, Thursday, and Tuesday.

But Friday it is! :D

EDIT:

Wow! I don't think I've ever seen the buyers guide showing almost every single Apple product all being due for a new release all at once like this! The only consumer products that aren't due for an imminent update are the ipod shuffle, the iphone, and the imac.

thanks, guess I could have looked that up, but here I sit browsing on my first gen iPhone, dreaming about about a MBP that is just beyond my grasp... Someday it will be a reality... Someday...

seems early to introduce a new touch. the touch has always been the step child of the iphone.

As a touch owner, it's more like the wicked bastard child of the iPhone that begs to get some attention but is always just a mention as a last second thought.

Oh and probly a 64gb/black or what background and a wildcard.

Wildcard means GPS, Speakers or something else that is really cool.

I say we start a pool on the announcement and release date for this stuff. I'm basing mine off the MBP and I'm saying an announcement on the 9th of sept. (Tuesday) and a release on the 12th (Friday)

Having waiting so long for an MBP cosmetic change (seriously, I bought my PB G4 4 years ago, and I get a machine that looks exactly the same? ), I'm really done with the "just around the corner" rumours.

I'll just get mine at tail-end of Back To School because I need it, and then watch on as everyone gets brand new MBPs that look super sexy

If there was a cosmetic change to any of the notebooks, I'm pretty sure they'll hold them all the way to Macworld at this point. It's speed-bumps or nothing.

how does it all work?

How exactly will it work (i.e. how has it worked in the past?)
They announce that there'll be an event, then they have an event at which they announce what's coming out, and then the release?
In the past, how much time has there been between announcing the event and having it, and then until launch?
That is to say, could we be looking at a (theoretical) late august announcement of an event, early september event, and early-mid september launch?

Or am I completely grasping at straws here?

i am with you in terms of always wanting the newest everything, but its not like when an update happens your machine becomes a brick. its still a great machine. what in the update do you really want or need? is it worth waiting for?

i just ordered my macbook out of necessity and because there are often some kinks to be worked out of 1st generation products, even if it does only take a few weeks. i dont have the luxury of waiting those extra weeks unfortunately. oh well nehalem will change the game.

Well, I better see some sort of iPod Touch update.

I have been holding out on buying one forever now just cause I want the updated version...

You have to admire my will power :D

Same here! I've been holding out since the beginning of the year.

Isn't it normally a major Macbook Pro redesign/ upgrade presentation will happen on MacWorld conference (every beginning of the year). I still remember the first transition to Intel + built in iSight + new name happens on MacWorld 2006, after that it's just minor upgrade.

Well maybe i'm wrong, i will keep my finger crossed since i also need something to replace my 1st gen MacBook Pro.

I really don't understand why people want a radio in an iPod, the main reason why I got my iPod was so that I didn't have to listen to the stupid radio....

ipod touch new features

im going to have a stab in the dark with a new feature... may some form of phone like function maybe a camera on the back dunno that's my guess
