ipod updates maybe. MacBook, Macbook Pro updates no way. Many students will be buying over the summer months and almost definietly the biggest month for buying laptops will be august. A refresh the month after veryonea bought their MacBooks spells disaster. Apple won't do this, the same thing was said last year and every apple store said the same thing to me.

I am more than happy with my setup right now. Still looking forward to anything Apple will update, just not as anxious as i have been in the past.

I really don't understand why people want a radio in an iPod, the main reason why I got my iPod was so that I didn't have to listen to the stupid radio....

Me too don't want to see built-in radio-along with drag and drop for music because Sony,Creative,MS,etc do it-as these companies aren't tied to a single store, but how would Apple stop people from stripping DRM or sharing the songs.

I can't see Apple not releasing anything between July 11th and the end of September.

Not even last year, with the iPhone's native launch did it last. The iMac's/iLife/iWork came at the beginning of August.

I agree that the iPod's will be in September, but that doesn't mean Apple can't hold an event for the Mac Mini, Macbook, Macbook Pro, and Cinema Displays, all of which are due for case redesigns.

Even the Mac Pro is due for an update, but not at a media event since it would only be specs.

Mac mini may get a quiet refresh (GM45,802.11n), also updayed iMacs in the same month (to use a Centrino 2 class chipset-PM45).

The iMac's aren't getting upgrades anytime soon. They already use a "mock" Montevnia chipset and would see no gains at all if added to the iMac.

The Mac Mini on the other hand hasn't been updated in over a year, and is due for an entire redesign. There have been rumors about it for the past year.

Same ol' same ol'

This is nothing new. Thay know thats what most of the audience wants to hear I can't wait until this actually happens.
I'm waiting to see the specs and the final design on the MBP.
A mem upgrade to the touch would be sweet, it would make it the best multimedia device on the market.

Ugh. I'm caught in the middle here. When are we going to see a MacBook Air with a removable battery?

Sure, you're partly right. But it's not like it'll be too long after. It's usually october/november, depending on whether or not they do it at the same time. MBPs tend to come first. The Back-to-school promo does involve ppl getting a computer too, you know; and uni students favour laptops.

The article never explicitly says there's an event in mind, it's just an analyst echoing what most ppl suspect from years of watching the back-to-school promotion end and then new products coming out shortly thereafter. Every now and then, ppl are able to get newer computers towards the end of the promotion, albeit with outdated ipods (or perhaps vice versa), but invariably there's an ipod update and MB and MBP updates between the promotions end and Xmas otherwise holiday shoppers would be paying more for the same iterations of the same products as the back-to-school crowd 3 months previous.

Does the same ring true for iMac or is that not a hot backtoschool item?

i just bought a macbook pro for work, as much i would love to have waited, i got it for a really good price, better than me having to pay apple over $2,000. I don't really care for a new design change, I think the current ones are more than fast enough with.

So...the iPod Classic....

160GB & 320GB?

"A server in your pocket!"

In all seriousness, capacity boost or price drop? I mean, a 320GB iPod is teetering on the edge of overkill.

I'm gonna guess an early September launch for:
- Redesigned MacBook's with an aluminium enclosure and Air style keyboard
- Redesigned MacBook Pro's with Air style keyboard
- Overhaul of MacMini, slimline design with a Time Machine form factor
- Redesigned iPod range to bring touch screens to the lower-end models, and matt-aluminium finished similar to the Mac line

Simple solution, just buy the computer you need now, and when the refresh happens, buy it also. Problem solved. That is what I do. Then I have double the fun.

Well the best solution would probably be to sell it on eBay just before the new products are announced.
My iPod classic's going on ebay for £110, when its likely the new model will be £150. I've "lost" £40, but thats not much considering im upgrading.
Similarly, my PowerBook G4 17" 1.67 is about to get listed on eBay for £550 - £600 when the new MacBook is likely to cost around £700, again £100 for an upgrade.

old news..

damn my hp laptop just broke down today and its dead lol i really want to get a mbp already :D hp sent me a box to ship it back to them for repair..

only macs for now on

AMEN!!! Too bad for me my dv2100 CTO broke down after a year later, which means no box for me.

BUT, I got it fixed though and I'm selling it. And am on my way to Apple street to buy a mac...well when they finally have the refresh.

Those are actually some gorgeous designs.
I am sincerely hoping there is a hard drive based iPod Touch, or at the very least, a 64Gb iPod Touch for cheaper than the current 32Gb.
