Haha! Kind of...

-Love that dual-tone ceramic (buckle) grey exclusive strap.

I was wondering if I should get a spare strap for my grey Ceramic. Just in case for the future. How do you buy the original Ceramic sports strap? Do they sell it if you have the Ceramic AW? I also do have Apple care for it.

I know they provide replacements if they ever get damaged, but not 100% sure if they sell them. Ask support and they should be able to tell you, I'm interested to know too.

Cheers, guys. I really do like the SS SB, but it picks up fingerprints so very easily. Don't get me wrong, it is a great looking watch, and think it looks better than the ceramic space grey (based on pictures, anyway), as I love how the screen blends in with the bezel.

One question. Is it just me, or is the screen on the ceramic not flush with the bezel?

In order to obtain a "NEW" strap, the ones that are not retail, you would have to contact Apple or an Apple store.
The specialist I spoke with led me to believe you would need to provide a serial number for them to order a new band.

Yes. a Serial number and the order would be placed through the genius repair parts process

Fully agree on silver lugs not matching white (and grey) ceramic.

On (PRODUCT) RED, my youngest once had a (PRODUCT) RED case for a iPhone 5s and in 2 months it was (PRODUCT) black

On Watches: I currently own a SS Hermès and SB SS but still prefer the former. I ordered the ceramic grey because honestly speaking I do not have the guts to wear a white watch.... the grey fits more my age (58) ;)

I have had the Gray a week now and LOVE the watch. The problem now is, I wonder what the Ceramic White would be like. I love the minimalist approach with the ceramics for S3 and the white on white looks very appealing.

Can you elaborate more on the minimalist approach you’re referring to? Just curious. Thanks.

Went to Lakeside today and popped into the Apple store. Wasn't surprised that they didn't have any ceramics in-stock. but what was surprising was that they don't even have any on display! Apparently, only the main London stores according to to the Apple member of staff I spoke with.

Yep! This is why working close to Regent Street pays off!

The harsh Apple Store lights don’t do the grey ceramic justice though...

Long wait until next week! I really do like the space black, but think I’ll feel more comfortable with the ceramic for a number of reasons.

What’s the QC like with ceramics? Like many others here (?) I’m really picky when I get a gadget (especially at this price) I inspect it very closely. Scratches, marks, button presses, etc.

Also, is the text on the back of the ceramic engraved or printed?

Man, this is going to be a long 10 day wait! SS will probably go back on Friday...

You are so much like me! lol I check everything under every lighting condition... QC seems good, didn't have a problem.

Not sure, had to return my ceramic as I'm moving soon and need the money for a deposit, sad times :( Have to wait until I sell my Hermès now.

Glad I'm not the only one! Funny thing is how bright LED lights seem to show imperfections much better than normal white light.

Good to hear the QC is top notch with the ceramics. I've not seen anything in the forums about people mentioning any issues; suspecting they must be under a much higher degree of inspection before they are packed.

I'm really sorry to hear that the ceramic went back :( Hopefully you can pick one up again soon. Bigger things to look forward to if you're buying a property, congratulations! :)
[doublepost=1508848860][/doublepost]UPDATE: Okay, so I spoke with Apple and have until the 6th of November to return the SS SB. Actually very impressed as I picked it up on 13th of October! My ceramic is due for delivery 2nd - 7th Nov so hopefully can return the SS SB once it arrives and won't be left without a Watch in the interim.

Oh yeah, if you request a return you get 14 days to return it... Basically you can have it a month before it needs to be back...

Ah. I put the request in yesterday, should have waited until Thursday or Friday! It’s not biggie, I have until Nov 6th and hopefully my ceramic should arrive by then!

Now comes the agonising and repeated order status checking... kicking myself for not deciding this on Friday as it was showing as delivers on Monday (yesterday) then!

Hi all! I have a few questions as a (future) owner of the Ceramic Space Grey.

  1. Is the text on the back of the watch engraved or printed?
  2. Is it noticeably lighter than the SS?
  3. Can ceramic get chipped if it falls?
  4. Apple market the EDITION “with a refined finish that won’t scratch or tarnish”. Is it truly scratch resistant, even if you scrape the watch against a rough surface (by accident, of course!). Hairline/surface scratch proof, too?
  5. In some pictures the watch looks quite light, and in some much darker. Is this dependent on lighting?
  6. I have the black leather loop from 2015. Is the charcoal grey leather loop similar to this (if you have both).

Thanks in advance. :)

I'll answer from my point of view: -

1. Not sure and can't currently check.
2. Not really, has a nice weight to it as it's closer to the SS in weight anyway. Aluminum 34.9g, Edition 46g and SS 52.8g.
3. If it falls on just the right angle in just the right area from a height it could do. However, the curved edges mitigate the risk and even the lip around the screen is there to ensure less chance of chipping.
4. The ceramic is pretty high on the Mohs scale and apparently 5 times more scratch resistant than the SS.
5. Very dependent, like I've said previously the grey can go from light grey, to dark grey, to almost black and then to titanium/steel looking. It's very reflective, so the lighting decides the look.
6. I read people saying the black leather loop was more dark grey anyway and some even used shoe polish on it to make it more a true black. Should look awesome with it.

6: Curent color is Charcoal Grey. Previously there was Black and Storm Grey. Charcoal is between Black and Storm Grey

Check my thread on how to do band pimping. Yet I am not sure if the Leather Loop leather will behave same as the Classic band leather.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Much appreciated.

By way of update, I've now cancelled my order for the ceramic edition. I was already in 2 minds as the SS SB has really grown on me (and a huge upgrade already from the sports series 0).

I know I'll probably want to upgrade to Series 4 next year, so will see my options then. Wanted to buy a Kindle Oasis and a few other things, and any benefits of spending an extra £700 on the ceramic are beginning to look rather pale. Would have gone for it if it was another £200.

Serie 4! I’ll tell you something else. I’ve got no evidence to substantiate this claim, but suspect a slight redesign may be up next as we’ve have the same one for 3 gens now. Perhaps less of a bezel so more screen real estate, who knows. But I do think some minor changes are imminent.

I’ll definitely get the series 4 in ceramic then!

No doubt in my mind of a redesign.
Essentially they have all the pieces in place right know. The casting of the cases haven’t changed so I can’t believe Ivy is sitting around not redesigning.

I’m guessing X design may also change a bit.

In 2018 I suspect we will see a side by side phone and watch release and the watch will mimic the appearance of the watch.
The white ceramic may yield to a silver and the current gray will be darker.
The bands shape will also change as will the puck.
The HUGE marketing push will be health.
This year, as we know, it was LTE and a mention of health.
New watch design, update to the X design and a new iPad design to compliment the X and watch will equate to huge revenues.

I am interested to see if they slightly widen the phone
