Why are you getting 8 Plus and X at same time? Seems huge waste of money, unless you have unlimited money to blow out. While there are still people suffering from hunger. Should donate the money for these people.

Don't take offense, I just don't understand why would people buy 8 and X at same time.

I'm one of those people who got the iPhone 8 Plus last Friday, and will be getting an iPhone X on November 3rd. I will then sell the 8 Plus. Because Apple gadgets are one of my main hobbies.

Donating money to people in need is not mutually exclusive with spending money on Apple gadgets. Everyone has their own priorities. Please respect that.

End of rant.

Have an appointment at the Apple store on Friday. Guaranteed to have the “Genius” tell me “Oh, I don’t hear anything...”

And the space grey 256GB’s are hard to come by in AT&T stores so exchanging it within the two weeks will be tough...

Thanks again Apple. Appreciate the quality control.

I had this exactly as described this very problem with my iP6s and it required the unit to be replaced outright.

No problems since then.

In line with the topic of issues with new phones. Have you noticed how Apple with IOS 11 have reverted the signal level indicator to pre Antenna Gate days. This was changed after antenna gate because apple claimed that we were all misusing and misunderstanding the indicator signal level.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple didn't even test the phone capabilities of the iPhone 8 considering it's just an iPhone 6 with a glass back and figured everything would be "just fine".

Interesting. I haven’t experienced this so far and hopefully I won’t. I would take mine back if I did. I have the silver 8+ 256GB on Verizon.

I noticed this today on my 8 Plus. I've got AppleCare+ so I'll see if it's fixed with a software update, then if not, I'll get in touch with them. It's not a load crackle, just there in the background of the call. Certainly doesn't make it unusable.

I don't see how this is anything but a bad earpiece speaker. In other words, not a software fix.

I’m getting the same random crackling sounds/static on my iPhone 8. At first thought it was WiFi calling, but also happens with WiFi off.

I can hear slight distortion on both calls and music playback on the speakers. I initially thought it was just overdriving the speaker amp because I had volume at 100% trying to check the difference in improved bass and volume as to the iPhone 7 but distortion somewhat remained after lowering volume. I am not at all concerned as there's probably some internal pre-amlification setting that's over-driving the pre-amps and thus causing the distortion/static. I seem to remember this with either the 6s or 7 model when it was new as well and Apple tweaked the pre-amp stuff (whatever the proper terms are) and resolved it. However, I have another problem that's probably unique to a few units and that is the volume buttons are squishy without the clicks for the first few taps and then they slowly get clicky again and stay that way for 30 seconds or so. After sitting for a minute or two the squishyness returns. I will be visiting the Apple Store today to pickup a 4K ATV unit and will see if they want to swap my 8Plus out for it. I didn't realize how the tactile feedback helps until it's not there anymore. Granted, it's a little vain to care about such but this 256GB 8Plus is $1000 after tax, tag and title. :)

I'm going to keep my eyes on this thread before I pull the trigger on the 8+. It doesn't seem like a deal breaker, but it's certainly frustrating for those experiencing the issue. I'll continue using my 7 until then.

Experiencing the same exact issue! I am considering on exchanging this stupid phone to see if another will do the same (probably will!). It drives me insane, especially in quiet areas. I actually have to put my phone on speaker. The crackling is very loud on mine, other people say they don’t hear it that loudly. But then again, maybe they are older

What a weird comment...as if having one iPhone is perfectly acceptable while there are hungry people in the world, but the audacity of having two iPhones begets judgments about how the owner spends his money and implications that he should be doing more to help the hungry.

Don't take offense, I just don't understand how one determines the acceptable number of iPhones to have before deserving the 'hungry kids' speech, or what info you might have about the previous poster's level of charity.

I was talking to my sister last night for over 30 minutes. I noticed this happening and wondered what it was. Guess I'll be contacting Apple.

Noise is nothing new with the iPhone since the 6.

Have a 6s Plus that makes a popping, ticking, clicking sounds.

The noise is captured whenever a video is recorded on the phone. Voice memos do not capture the annoying sound.

Did not discover the sound until months after purchasing the phone.

Replaced iPhone through AppleCare yet the noise is still there.

Apple has been unable to resolve the defect and I am stuck with a phone that is unable to take video without playback sounding like something the people over at the SETI Institute would hope to hear.

If anyone has resolved a similar issue let me know.

Personally, if I'm unable to make a decent call, its not something I'm willing to wait and see what apple does, that's just me though

No, what you would do is call Apple and say, "WTF is this crackling noise!?!?!". Then, that's what they'd respond to, nobody said wait and see.

I would be surprised if you really know nothing about what goes into approving a phone with a carrier.
