They were being "Sarcastic."![]()
I know, right?
Because I am sure I was promised that the notch will be removed via software updates when I spend £999 on it. But now I am being forced to embrace it

Ah yes, the justification for waiting because a few devices have a problem. The rest of us are enjoying our devices and the few that have problems will get them replaced by excellent customer service.I’m glad I waited
Interesting. Luckily Apples customer service is excellent! I wouldn't mind having a green line on my X in about 8 months so I can get a brand new device
"Hardware defect"
So this is Samsung's fault, right?![]()

Yeah, I was disappointed to learn that they are actually refurbished phones. I should've gotten the tip when they came in generic boxes instead of brand new bubble wrapped boxes.

The device you "waited" for could have similar or other issues.
Stop being so haughty.
I have no issues with my Galaxy S8. Perfect display.
I would agree. However, didn't iFixit's teardown identify a custom IC that many believe to be the Display Driver?Looks like a problem with the display controller circuitry.
Haha! This is a joke! You expect people to be ok with making an appointment with Apple and taking time out of there schedule to return the phone after paying $1K for it?! Some people have kids and work 2 jobs, so no. Its not a minor convenience as you claim. You feel bad for customers who have to deal with it? You mean, take the phone back to be exchanged, free of charge, for a working, great device? Yeah, seems terrible!
Stuff happens with things like this. So what. It's a minor inconvenience at that, for most people. Apple will take care of it. Now if Apple blew everyone off and said tough titties, that would be a different story. However, thats not the case.
Move along.
It was the definition of haughty and irrelevant because everyone will get a working device. His comment wasn't haughty. He expressed satisfaction over his own decision. It's also a pretty reasonable decision; many people don't like to be early adopters.
The argument that a future device "could" have issues is a straw man. Statistically, on average an early iteration of a device has a higher chance of issues than a later one. This is part of why it's perfectly reasonable for people to choose not to be early adopters.
I don't get why this is always such a freaking war. Some people want this device and don't mind or even embrace its...eccentricities. Some people don't. Does that mean that early adopters are blind Apple fans? Not necessarily. Does that mean that people who aren't buying the device, now or ever, are Apple haters or can't afford it? Not necessarily.
Waited for what? This is an issue that affects a very small number of people. Don’t think it’s worth waiting just so you can hear about it but never have it affect you.I’m glad I waited
Right. When you literally sell 200M phones, a few will have issues. Wow, big surprise. I'm shocked. Apple is a pimp company and takes care of their customers, even with working devices. I had a cloud question and they helped me in 2 minutes after I called.Hey, what happened to those iPhone 8’s that popped open? Wasn’t this supposed to indicate poor quality control and testing? Apple was going downhill? Steve would never have shipped a defective iPhone with such a glaring flaw? Burstgate? Bubblegate? How come the news isn’t continuing to cover the epidemic of burst iPhones?
Here’s a hint - because it was a very small number that did, they got replaced under warranty and it’s a non-issue. Except to those that attempt to take the inevitable defective units on a product that’s sold in the millions to imply some massive failure on Apples part.
This issue with green lines will end up the same. The few with the issue will get replacements and it will be forgotten. Until the next “failure” pops up.
Pair that green line with the red dot on the digital crown of your Apple Watch, and you've got yourself a nifty Christmas display.![]()
Count me in as another victim. Wife's phone has same line out of the blue last night. Spent 2 hours on phone with chat support. Screen is now completely black, though haptic underneath still works, alarm works. Will have to show up to Apple store which is 45 min away from me. Wow!
Aaaaaand that what you get for buying the prototype. Apple hasn’t fully tested this device, millions of paying customers are doing it for them instead. Really a terrific business strategy, brilliant.
Israelis have been dealing with the Green Line for 50 years now. Can Apple get rid of that one too?Owners should embrace the green line. Just like the notch.
That an amazingly good failure rate!Sold out millions in a few minutes after pre-order.
20 units affected that we know of.
Okay, next news topic?
It doesn't take that many defective units for a total recall. The Note 7 was a good example.
No problem.I am very grateful to the beta tester for reporting itI cannot wait a year or two when Apple perfects it! Again thank you!
I agree, people just want to be negative and bash things in life, get enjoyment out of tearing things down! I've had mine a week now and the thing is flawless. Between my wife and I we've had every series since the 4 and have never had a problem with any of them. When ever we did have any issues that seemed buggy we just turned it off then back on and it worked like a charm,,,you have to do that with pretty much ALL electronics.Cracks me up seeing all the people who don't own an X bashing it every chance they get. "Oh no! 20 out of 3 million phones have a defective display! So glad I didn't ruin my life by buying one!" Lol, do these people even hear themselves?
