Got mine today, it is labeled the same way and the instructions do not specify which way to do it. I have not installed mine yet.

edit: sent an email through amazon and got this back

We are sorry that we do not have enough explanation on our youtube video.

Back is the sticky side (Adhesive side that goes to the screen surface), so you should peel off the (Back) first.
Please email us if you have any further questions.
Thank you.

Peter

I just replied asking what the significance of the number 2 was on the protector.

edit: reply

Yes, you will have to peel off the Back(2) first, and that surface is going to the actual screen.
Please email us if you have any further questions.
Thank you.

Peter

Thank you so much posting this. I just got mine today and figured 2 was for the screen (as in its the back of the protector) then I was like.. no wait.. 2.. peel 2nd? lol So I stopped did a search here and found it. I had already applied it but then stopped and didn't push down to finalize as I wasn't sure wtf.

But what do I use the alcohol wipe for? Clean the screen with it first then wipe for dust? I never used it but was totally confused. Instructions were worthless. Product is 10 out of 10 but instructions were 3 out of 10... 3 for actually existing and not chinese english.

I'm thinking about trying this combo myself. Is this screen shield annoyingly thick though? I don't want to have to use those home button covers they give you.

It is noticeably thicker when it's on. If you don't use the button cover the send you, you will certainly feel the recessed home button, and the edging inside the glass shield may annoy you. I didn't want to use the button cover either, but once I installed it, it looks as is there's nothing there at a glance, and instantly liked it better then the deeper gap.

Probably a bit early to ask but has anyone tried removing the GLAS.t after an extended period of time (At least 24hr+). Reason I ask is because I'm concerned whether it will damage the iPhone on removal after it has had time to set in.

Bit the bullet and ordered, hopefully should arrive soon. Now I'm contemplating ordering a Kioky to get perfect fitment, like some have suggested here.

It's just silicon adhesive, not superglue.

Edit got mine installed. You have as much time as you want to line it up. I recommend layling it on then barely using your fingernails to push the sides to line it up. Then press down and watch the show. I have a couple of bubbles so in going to see if they come out

Mine just arrived yesterday and I popped it on right after work. As has been mentioned, the tacky side is the one labeled "BACK #2". Makes no sense to me... wonder if this was a mix-up in manufacturing or what. I used the "steamy bathroom" method and it worked very well. I did get one small piece of dust on the upper left that I thought I could live with. An hour later I threw caution to the wind and pulled the screen up. It does come off without damage and I was able to remove the dust with a bit of tape. It went down almost perfectly, had some slight bubbling around the edges (like some of the pics on page one of this thread), but it has all disappeared as of this morning.

The buttons are another story. I screwed up placing that thing down (the square was crooked) and they do not come up without being destroyed. One of them left a bit of residue as well, which I had to pick up with some rubbing alcohol and Q-tip. I ended up slapping the pink one on my fiances phone. It was very easy without the raised glass of the protector in my way. The moral of the story is to just put that thing on before you place the screen protector. They do feel really good, surprisingly, and would want one now even without the screen cover.

I see two possible situations in terms of people having trouble removing this thing. Either people are pulling this thing up way too fast (the more likely scenario IMO), or they changed something with how this stuff sticks down.

My verdict: At this point this is the best screen protector I have ever used, bar none. I had a zagg before this, which seemed to offer great protection, but terrible clarity and feel. I suspect this will offer just as good protection but with absolute clarity and a smooth, glass feel. We will see how it stands the test of time, namely scratches. I am using it with the Belkin Essential 050 case without absolutely no issues. I can see this screen cover causing problems with slider type cases, but I have never been a fan of those myself. I would seriously consider rocking just a bumper if SGP came out with a back cover for this thing. If I had to guess, I would think that the camera flash is what is holding them back.

I do have one small gripe... that's the price. You are getting a premium product, in premium packaging, etc. However, there are no instructions to speak of and, as mentioned, the labels are pretty bad (who peels something labeled #2 first?). Also, they wanted almost $7 shipping straight from their site. It came in a flat rate. At MOST this cost them $5 (I ship via paypal myself often). I have trouble swallowing a handling fee when the product is already $28 by itself. There are some for $30 shipped on eBay, though the catch seems to be they all come from out of country. Went ahead and ordered one for the fiance, and will have to see how long it takes to get here. Hopefully it's the legit product and not some knock-off. :)

Almost same experience as lord above. Got mine today and used the steamy bathroom trick. Even so, I got 2 pieces of dust under the shield. I couldn't stand it. I used an exacto knife and lifted the bottom of the shield under the home button. My thinking was this would offer the least resistance. As long as you are very deliberate it will come up. I used tape and got the dust out. I too have some bubbling around the edges from where I lifted the shield. Not sure if they will come out but I can live with those much easier than dust. Home button installation was a breeze for me. I used tape and lined it up and pressed down. Mine came out perfect the 1st time. Best shield I have ever tried.

UPDATE!!!!
Couldn't leave well enough alone. Found another piece of dust while looking at the shield in the sunshine. This time when lifting it I screwed it all up. Mine is done. Can't fix it. This just kills me but I am too anal about that dust. Do not think I will be ordering another one. Saw where SGP tweeted they are on backorder now. Its a good thing because it removed temptation. Back to using those old crummy Powersupport Crystals....lol

Did it crack?

I, as with probably many more people would buy one of these if:

a) they provided more than one per pack
b) there was a way to apply these perfectly

i am very OCD about dust under screen shields, even one tiny speck and i wouldnt be able to cope!

annoying but im sure SGP are working on something. Surely they could use a different adhesive so you can take it off and reapply?

This is exactly what I tried to explain in my earlier post.

I'd suggest giving the Ultimate Class a whirl. It's very close to the look and feel of the GLAS.t. However, since it's .2mm instead of .4mm it's pliable which means you can lift it up at the corners and remove dust and then lay it back down.

Thanks Larry. Was going to tweet you about this exact topic and get your opinion. Just having a hard time letting go of another $28 plus shipping.

One more thing, is the Ultimate the shield you are using now?

You are more clever than I am. wish I had done that. Maybe I will try the green one out tonight and see how it looks. Unfortunately I trashed my other white one, and will likely trash this one removing it, so if I hate green then I am stuck until the fiance's comes in. GRRRR decisions!

Awww... sorry to hear that. They may replace it for you. It's worth a shot at least asking. It can;t cost nearly as much to produce as they charge the end user.

Doubt it.. it was user error, most company's warranties don't cover improper installation / user error.

Though it does suck you only get one real shot :\

With a premium screen shield you are almost never going to get multiples. If you did, you would just have people pawning them and paying a fraction of their target market price for one. I think zagg does it right. If you mess it up, a couple bucks buys you a new one. That way it doesn't feel like a $35 mistake.

As far as application is concerned, I know there are places that offer the application for you. It's something like an extra $10, but the risk is displaced to the individual placing the screen. If they botch it, it's up to them to provide the replacement.

I am not talking warranty. I am literally recommending you ask them. Be honest. "I EFFED UP! HELP!" It would take five seconds of your time and wouldn't hurt. Just a thought... unless you already chucked it!

Zero chance they will send out a free one as replacement if the user screws up putting it on. Can you imagine how many people are going to screw up? A lot.

I want to try it but I'm going to wait about a month or two to hear if folks still like it. There are many examples of screen protectors where people love them initially but then grow to hate them down the road for one reason or another.

Like someone mentioned earlier, if a speck or two of dust is going to drive you crazy, this probably isn't the screen protector for you.

Nope, the silicon adhesive just got all messed up with the tape. It left a line in it where the edge of the tape was and it would come out.

I too wanted to lift it back up as I thought it was a great idea to install the glas.t with elago slider case on it (the screen protector fitted fine with the case on it, so I figure it would be a perfect alignment tool).

As I was laying it down, it turns out that the edge would not go down as easily, so I ended up removing the elago glide case (make sure you get the b/w one as it is slightly bigger). The GLAS.T protector ended up going on the screen perfectly, with the exception that it's about 0.5-1mm too low (the home button is still perfectly reachable, it's just that it's not perfectly centered).

The installation was done in a steamed bathroom, I tried to lift the screen off the bottom right corner (using the top cover film I peeled off from the GLAS.T), but it looked like it was bunching up the silicon and I was having a somewhat difficult time lifting it, so I gave up.

Now I have one of those binder clips along with CD Cushion foam (those that came with CD Spindle) clipped on the corner, hoping the corner silicone would flatten out.

You can see what I mean by the picture. The lifted silicone picture was taken with about the binder clip on the corner for about 5 mins. As I am typing this message, it's been on it for about 15 mins, and the corner is meaningfully better. I think the cushion foam and the binder clip should provide sufficient pressure to minimize the corner lift. I will take another picture after a day or so.

So moral of the story, it's an amazing screen protector, but definitely takes a lot of skills and a bit of luck to install it perfectly. Hindsight, I should not have the Elago Glide case on to help with the alignment (even though it fitted fine, the corners are harder to go down, and as a result, it shifted ever so slightly down b/c I was removing the case, and the bottom comes off first).

I had absolutely no issues installing the protector in a steamed up bathroom. I'm pretty picky about these things but I don't have a single bubble or piece of dust behind it.

So far after having it for about a week there is only 1 thing I don't like about it, the home button. Not using the home button stickers makes the home button far too recessed, but the home button stickers that they provide on convex rather than concave and I really don't like that either.

I would happily buy those home button stickers from you (if you still have the black).

I contacted SGP about buying a pack of stickers individually and got this reply:

"Thank you for contacting SGPstore.com Customer Service Department.
Hi, my name is Joseph from SGPstore.com.

Unfortunately we do not sell the home button epoxy stickers individually.
We apologize for the inconvience.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Thank you."

That's a similar reply to what I received. :(

If anyone has an extra white home button sticker that he/she is willing to sell, please kindly send me a PM. Thanks in advance. :)

Put a clothes pin on my bubble overnight and it appears to be gone!

edit: back after a few hours

I just want to ask is there any damage if the screen protector is taken off? Say you're just done using it, there's no damage because of the adhesive right?

Ordered from SGP on 2/3, got it 2/6. I see they're now on backorder though.

Fancy schmancy with the software box type packaging. Will install later. If my install goes on well, I might have some extra buttons for sale.

Same as any screen protector, comes off with no residue

Just throwing this out there: has anyone tried to install a screen protector outside? Less chance of dust particles landing on the screen mid-install.

If anyone has, how did it go?

Trying to figure out the safest way to apply this piece of art
