This is unbelievably frustrating. Staples shows availability on 11/25, so maybe that's a clue as to when mass shipments will go out (by mass I mean Pencil sized shipments)

Considering getting by with a Bluetooth keyboard for a while since I already have a smart cover and deciding if it's even worth spending another $170 on an accessory for this thing. My Mac keyboard works great with it; it just loses some lap-ability and convenience.

Probably kidding myself, but it works as a substitute at least.

Have you considered the Logitech Create Keyboard? It's bulky, but it does work. Since the holiday returns are in effect, you have more flexibility on that front.

I looked at it, and hated it. Way too big and heavy; if I wanted to carry something like that around, I would just keep using my 13" rMBP.

No offsense intended of course if you like it; it's just not what I bought the iPP for.

A basic idea of business mangement is that you have to know how much invetory that you can sell to customers. Then you put the product into martketing promotion, taking order, and put into market.

Like the first launch of Xiaomi, full inventory was sold in few minitues. But at least the customers know where to place order, when to expect receive it, and how to get it.

Did apple provide any for these info after their launch of iPP accessories? What we saw are poor trained sales, inconsistant information, and ridiculous ebayers....

And even Apple run so poorly in their supply chain management, they are still making more money than other company....just becuase they are the ONLY ONE IOS provider....that doesn't mean THE BEST.

Apple has routinely bought major chunks of the world supply of memory and display panels, effectively shutting out others (including Samsung) and making things more difficult for others.

In the consumer electronics industry worldwide there is simply no other company with the clout, history of delivering orders and pile of cash to command that level of supply chain dominance.

Not an opinion - nor really a debate point. The whole thing is that given their pitch for the device and their ability to sequester large scale manufacturing capability ... they should have been able to do better. That is all.
That sucks. Why aren't they putting them out on the shelves? That doesn't make any sense.

Same is true with Apple and the iPad Pro accessories.

I knew were to place my order (which I did), when to expect to receive it (which I do), and how to get it (same).

Then please tell us when can we get those stuffs, and where / how to get them like those ebayers?

If what you did are just go into store and pray that they got stocks when you come in. And bet for your lucky can get one even their website shows "out of stock"....that's just by lucky, not by effective information.

I ordered them from the website. I will receive them the second week of December. They will arrive at my house.

I've been by the Apple Store in SF once a day for the past few days and have not seen any Smart Keyboards. I decided not to get one regardless but just FYI.

Good for you. However, I just got my pencil before yesterday by just walking in to a store without "preordering".....I am sure that I will get keyboard as well next week without trusting Apple's great ordering system. Good luck on ur waiting :D

I get what you are saying, but what about when someone wants to use the IPP on their lap? From what I have seen, the Apple keyboard isn't as stable as the Logitech keyboard in the lap. I am not sure since I have the keyboard, but not my iPad yet (I ordered one with 4G).

I would rather find a table or suffer for a little bit with the short Apple iPP keyboard on my lap than use that HUGE keyboard case. But that's just my opinion and what I'd do.

off topic but since you asked, the logitech keyboard doesn't work that well in my lap either. If I sit with it flat across my thighs it's ok but if I have my feet up on something and try to have it bridge between my thighs and stomach it pushes the back of the unit up and the iPad loses contact with the keyboard via the smart connector. At that point the on screen keyboard comes up sometimes and the physical keyboard definitely stops working. There's a hinge on the back of the case to allow folding the keyboard behind the tablet and the play that allows combined with a not-to-robust attachment between tablet and keyboard makes using it that way a bit frustrating. The SmartKeyboard is worse in that sense but the Logitech is not a cure all for lap use. In either case you can do it but have to keep it pretty flat.
