I had the same thing happen.... Now when I check the order status it states "Backordered". We shall see.
I have the smart keyboard and love it... My wife (who initially had no interest in the iPad Pro) now wants one for work after messing with mine. The search continues for her...
Got my tracking number tomorrow, delivery estimate is by end of day tomorrow! Woo-hoo!
Never thought I'd be so excited about a keyboard!
So I bought the Logitech CREATE Smart Keyboard yesterday. Essentially as a 'rental' until the Apple Keyboard ships, which is apparently some time after the last bear goes down for his winter nap.
Here's my initial 'takes' on the Logitech:
I had thought that maybe by purchasing this keyboard I'd perhaps be able to cancel the backordered Apple keyboard that may or may not arrive until Pitchers and Catchers report, and the bear gets a rumbly in his tumbly, and awakens to go poach some young cubs as an appetizer. I think now though I'll be returning the Logitech. The only question is do I wait until the Apple keyboard arrives, or just bite the bullet now.
Here's my initial 'takes' on the Logitech:
- It's heavy. As in, it makes the iPad Pro weigh more like the 15" Macbook Pro. This thing allows you to survive a mild motorcycle accident. I have a Thule 'travel' case for that where I'd slide it in atop my laptop. It's deal-breaking heavy.
- The backlit keyboard is nice. Really nice. But there's a catch. It drains the battery considerably, and as such it is set to 'turn off' rather quickly. Good luck with that when typing on it in bed.
- The biggest dealbreaker for me though? Despite the fact there are multiple ways to accomplish 'suspend' on the iPad itself, there's a LOCK key, placed right above the DELETE key. Again, this comes into play when you're lying in bed. It's deal-breaker bad.
- The thing ships with NO documentation. Nice box. Very mindful of Apple's base. I appreciate that...But NO documentation.
- Overall, it's a good keyboard/case. When sitting up in bed, the thing shines. The weight comes into play as it is able to keep the iPad Pro securely 'upright'.

Well, after missing out on the Best Buy 'window of opportunity', last night my Apple order changed to 'preparing for shipment'. Progress Honestly I have also been using the touch keyboard more than ever - it is huge and awesome. The Smart Keyboard will be gravy at this point .

Did the same with staples just now. I hope we have the success the Best Buy customers had yesterday. I also have a November 30th delivery date and used visa checkout with freedom card to get 15 dollar statement credit.
Checked out the retail store @ Westfield Valley Fair San Jose CA, staff member claims "they never received any, ever" - which is hard to verify, although he didn't outright say the same for the Pencil (which we know was there before).
Walked over to the nearby Best Buy, store has a small area on the shelf for it, but it is empty. Asked a staff member about it, said out of stock, said didn't know if it ever came in, said expecting it next week.

Well folks, mine has shipped and will be here tomorrow... Will have to post a new picture in that other thread. Apple used pretty much the entire 2 weeks, but I guess since it isn't 'late' ...
During the window that my BB keyboard was purchased and preparing to ship, my Apple order went into preparing to ship mode too. So when I finally got shipping confirmation from BB, I was unable to cancel my Apple order, so I will have two keyboards. I'll be returning the Apple one once it arrives. If anyone is in Atlanta and wants to buy my extra keyboard, I should have mine by Monday when you factor in holiday/travel.
