Still can't believe anyone would want to carry one of these phablets in their pocket all day. Sigh. I want my phone to rock and to NOT feel it. Minority I guess. Sad day for me.

I had no lucky on the Apple site, So i wen thru th Verizon site and was able to order a iPhone 6 128GB Space Gray 9/19 Delivery and iPhone 6 Plus 64GB Space Gray 10/7 Delivery.
The Apple site was down at 3:am and the apple store app not working.
Verizon had their pre order open 10 mins before 3am i should have order direct my iPhone 6 plus wondering if anyone is getting their on 9/19?

I'm curious - did anyone in the UK get a pre-order for delivery on launch day? I tried constantly from before 8am - it went from "We'll be back soon", to the store being up and all models "unavailable", to all models being "Shipped in 7-10 business days".

Which model wee you looking at and how were you accessing the Apple Store?

IOS Apple Store app started working around 8.20/8.25 but showed all models, all sizes and capacities as Unavailable. Apple.com/uk store came up around 8.30; most models showed as 19/9 with the 6+ going almost instantaneously to 7-10 days.

Got a gold 128GB Gold 6 (not the plus), the model I was after from the outset, for 19/9 delivery. Other friends that ordered 6's also got 19/9 delivery. The one friend who went for a 6+ at the exact same time got 7-10 days. Minutes later the same 6+ model had slipped to 3-4 weeks.

To be honest, I didn't think the 5.5" was going to happen at first either. The first part leaks didn't start appearing until about a month ago, compared to several months ago for the 4.7". There were also rumors about delays, production problems, etc. I think those rumors were probably true, but just resulted in a smaller 5.5" supply on launch day.

Just go anywhere besides an Apple store or AT&T/Verizon and you'll get an iPhone in 20 mins. I picked up both a 5 and 5s on launch day, although the selection was more limited.

So if you sell a phone that you got on a 2 year contract, you've extended the time before you can buy another new iPhone?

I placed an order with Verizon around 11:59 and it already said estimated delivery 10/14. Hopefully that's not true :(

I think Apple really ramped it up this year thinking there would be enough, and there still weren't.

And I think they really underestimated the demand of the 6+, from a poll I saw, it seems to be about 50/50 on 6 vs 6+...I'm betting Apple figured it wouldn't be anywhere near that even.

I guessed it would be roughly a 50/50 split. The phablet freaks would rush out and get the 5.5 and the rest of us would get the 4.7 as it's the closest to a phone sized phone Apple sell as an iPhone 6.

Yeah, I ordered an 6 Plus 64GB Space Grey and have the delivery date 19/9 :)

Am I the only one that uses the headset for calls?? I went 5.5 but I'm not to concerned about holding a "brick" to me head. Phones get hot after a short while on the phone, plus it's so much easier to hear in stereo! That being said I can't wait for voLTE is all.

Still laughing at all those people saying the 5.5" would never sell and who wants a phablet, blah blah blah. Well, look for yourselves...

Well I never said no one wanted one, but I still stand by the fact that whoever uses one looks like a complete and utter prat.

Am I the only person waiting to actually handle them both before buying one?? :D

i assume not the only one. I personally already now that 5.5 is too big for me and 4.7 is just a perfect size, but i want to see it in person, how those horrible bands look like and that protruding camera. could be a deal breaker for me.

also it sucks that there is no space grey option with white front. would be killer look.

and there were so many people on these forums complaining about a 5.5" iphone and that it was never gong to happen, yet it turns out to be the most popular model...

hypocrites???

We need a few more data points before you can get on your soapbox. Apple selling out doesn't necessarily mean it's the most popular model. It could be the least available. It having fewer available doesn't mean it did because it misjudged demand. There could be supplier issues as the rumors suggested weeks ago and it's a miracle Apple has enough to even have a preorder.

Since we don't have specific order#s it's impossible to say the 5.5" is the most popular model. Personally, I'd bet it's not. But we won't see evidence of that for months until the 5.5" population has time to accumulate or Apple announced specific sales numbers, something it rarely does within a product line.

It's strange to me how people are already pre-ordering the iPhone 6 when they haven't even held it yet. I'm either going to get it or the 5S but want to feel them both first. Why not just wait a couple weeks and get the phone then?

Yes.

Ordered 2 x 128gb's [Standard size], one silver and one grey.

Strange, because the site was back up by around 8.40am for me, on my devices. The App however was useless and did not work at all for me, although others have confirmed it worked for them.

There are going to be a LOT of returns. Most people who are buying this (non tech geeks) are going to assume the iphone "plus" is only marginally bigger then their current iphones.

People are buying it cause its the "plus". They want the most expensive phone to show off.

This thing is huge. The bezel is awful. How in the world anyone with small hands (mostly females) is going to use this thing beats me. Unless you are lebron james, you ain't using this one handed.

Not to mention this is not pocket able at all.

Apple could have hit this thing out of the park with adding oIS in the smaller version + sapphire screen. AND also releasing a smaller version (5s size). My girlfriend now is contemplating on buying a 5s since the 6 is way, way too big for her.

So the LG G3 is pretty much better than iphone 6 plus in every single way possible: Screen, microSD, camera, wireless charging, bezels, comfortable for one handed use.

Yet its priced at $480. Almost half of an iphone 6 plus.

I agree in regards to size selection.

I am upgrading from the 4S, so missed the screen size improvement of the 5/5S. I was tempted to buy a 6P, only because I currently use both my 4S and an iPad mini and was tempted to have one device for all. 4S is too small now for all day use IMO.

I agree that there will be a lot of people who would not have seen or held the 6P in person, who will order one. It is HUGE compared to my 4S, even the 6 is quite a bit more less pocketable for me and I am a tall person with big hands. The main issue for me (and probably for many others) is not how it fit's in my hand, but how it fit's in my pocket. When I say 'fit' I do not mean the physical ability to fit it in a pocket, but to be comfortable with it in a pocket.

Having it in your pocket going to work, is different to having it in your pocket on a night out, or at the gym / beach etc.

In short if you need a go everywhere phone, then perhaps a 6P is not for you.

Many people will not realise this until they unbox… ;)

My order delivers the week: 13. - 20th of October. Does the delivery of iPhone preorders usually arrive 1-2 days earlier by any chance?

6+ is the right size for me. 6 is too small and I don't want an iPad.

I want to see 6+ in action to find out how practical it is to carry and how practically useful its large size is...Don't want to carry ipadmini along with to read my books and articles. One device is better than two.
But is still believe that compromise is a compromise..phablet might not be good as either..ph & tab.
Eager to find out..:(

i always assumed that meant the 19th (7 days from yesterday)

I will never buy a phone over 4,8'' (galaxy s3 screen). The note 3 and so the iphone 5,5 look like a clown's accessory which match his shoes and bow tie. I don't care about how much better the specs of the bigger phones are, aesthetics is #1 to me and a good design will always be about proportion, it does not matter if cyclically exaggeration is trendy.

That being said, I understand everyone have different tastes and most of them awful :D
