Using a 4" phone is this day and age where iOS itself is optimized for larger screen with gorgeous typography and higher resolution imagery is nothing short of boring.

Sure, it works and you can get (some) stuff done, but forget about working on documents or editing movies unless you want to squint.

4.7" is a nice sweet spot, but I went from 4" -> 5.5" without any regrets. Jailbreaking solves the one handed issue when I don't hold my 6+ with both hands (OneHandWizard tweak), and the benefits of a larger screen far outweigh the negatives (harder to fit in pocket). I thought I'd never get used to a larger screen, but now I would never go back to a smaller form factor than 5.5" (higher would also be too much).

I wish people arguing for "just use a bigger phone" would realize that a lot of us just need a smaller and portable phone & messaging device with some minimal app access (camera, uber, music, etc & the like) on the go. Add in Apple Pay and we are complete!

4" phone is simply perfect for that.

the smaller 6s is almost the same size as the old 5s. I don't see why u cant use this phone.

Bigger where it counts. ;-)
I've tried (twice)

4" phone is just magic in the hand - just so perfect for my desires.

I love writing click-bait titles.

Anyway, note to Apple:

SOME OF US ACTUALLY WANTED A 4" iPHONE EVEN IF IT WERE ONLY THE "C" VERSION!

I'm not big enough a person to walk around with a 4.7" phone in my pocket. It's just a tad too big. Why would you discontinue this line altogether? I thought maybe we had a chance at a smaller iPhone 6c... have you dropped that off the planet? or is there a 10 year refresh period or something?

The 5S is still available at the Apple Store:

http://www.apple.com/shop/buy-iphone/iphone5s

It is dirt cheap too comparable to what it was! 32GB is $500!

Not the last or great but still you can buy one - 4".

If I were you I just get the 4.7" since it about the same size and go from there. It not that much bigger and it much better phone the 5S with the A7! The A9 is about 150% faster!

I came from a 4" to a 5.5" and you get use to the size. But if the 4.7" had the same screen resolution I would go with the 4.7" model but it does not!

Because that obviously didn't fix the problem. One of the big things the 5s is missing is NFC. If we just wanted a smaller screen there would be no problem. If we want a smaller screen and the up-to-date tech, then we feel left out. And with Apple, feeling left out means you've probably been ditched.

My wife is 5'1" 100lbs and uses the 6 with no issues at all. How small are you that you can't use a 6?

She tucks the phone in her pocket, while it sticks out a bit I think it just looks cute.

Half my office is still using 4, 4s & 5s because of size. I wish Apple release a vintage size phone or mini phone as an option.

The 5s is free now on contract. With the saving of not having to pay for the phone, buy an Apple Watch Sport. There you go. Free 4" phone and Apple Pay.

Read the rest of the thread, hm? We already know it's still available. It's even in my signature.

Nah, can't be bothered. If you already had the solution then what's the point of this whole thread?

Really though, based on this thread and Apple's sales increase with the new phones, it doesn't seem like there are many who want anything smaller.

It's just not a fair thing to quote sales increases. If they ever made new phones with basic feature parity across the line save for the different screen sizes it would be interesting.

people try to find the dumbest things to bitch about.

my friend who is 5 feet tall uses her 5" galaxy phone with no issues.

i'm pretty sure if she can use a device comfortably with her small hands, so can you.

the thing with the human body is is that we adapt. you'll adapt.

I've had an iPhone 6 since launch and I still long for an iPhone 6 spec phone in an iPhone 5/5S sized body. If I pick up and use my 6 for a while, I quickly start finding my hand is aching from all the stretching and over-reaching required to access all elements of the display. It's got to a point now where I have to hold the phone with my left hand and interact with the screen with my right hand to avoid the aching from single left handed use.
