Can't stand the 4.7 inch 6 (or 6S) its too big.

Wish there was a 4 inch 6S as the 5 will be my last iPhone otherwise. The 6 is useless and dead to me due to the size.

Apple has been wrong before.

LOL so many people love to hate on this thought!

Guess what sheep! People still like smaller phones. I will continue to use the 5S AND complain in open forums that I wish there was a newer 4 incher.

4.7 IS too big for some people, whether you think so or not. Whether your billionaire overlords say so or not.

Under 4.5" is dead. Companies aren't going to manufacture for only a handful of people.

If the market research arm of the largest company by revenue in the United States indicated that the small iPhone people enthusiasts were large enough in numbers, you would have seen the 4 inch iPhone.

Agreed. Sorry OP, but you either have to stick with what you have, move up to a 6s, or find an Android phone that suits you. Personally, I think you should bite the bullet and get a 6s. It won't feel so large after a few days.

The hate is so much for anyone who likes smaller phones. Its all about personal preference. Claps for everyone who has small hands and uses a 6 but I ain't one of them. I have slightly larger than average hands and I can not use the 6 one handed, which is how I use my iPhone 90 percent of the time, and thats how I (and others) like it. All over the web there are people who are asking for 4 inch phones. Sales data for the 5S showed it had a significant share of the sales compared to past middle models, which may indicate something. Also Tim Cook said himself that the proportion of 6/6+ upgraders were Android users, meaning proportionally less iPhone users upgraded this time. Maybe down to screen size? I know plenty of people waiting around for a reasonable sized phone(By their standards) to upgrade their 4S/5/5S .

I know i'm going to get flamed by people who accept whatever apple does as gospel truth but whatever.

I still hold hope that we'll see another 4 inch iPhone yet.

Show me the sales data for when Apple sold a 4, 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhone with similar designs and features (e.g. in one generation). None? Thats what I thought. There is no data to show that the 4 inch iPhone wouldn't sell.

The 6 feels just as large as it does on day one. In my case, unless the 6 magically makes my thumb reach the top of the screen, then it will always feel large and oversized to me. Pointless size and area when the 5/5S form factor is perfect for me and others.

Yep, this is a very true statement and sums it up well.

Sorry, original-poster-clickbait-titling-small person, that's just the way it goes.

A true statement ? Did Apple release this market research to you ?

Perhaps their intentions are to keep only a 5S as the small option to increase their profit margin, not because they did research proving what people prefer.

Where is the data that says a 4" phone will sell when offered at the same time as a 4.7" & 5.5" phones. Apple is in the business of making money, and they do a pretty good job of it. I'm sure if they felt it would sell well enough they would make it. I'm sorry they don't make the phone you want, but with that in mind, my original advice stands. Keep what you have, upgrade to a 6s, or move on to a Windows or Android device.

Thats the point, there is no data for it, so saying that it wouldn't sell or that Apple would sell it if it would doesn't hold any weight as they never offered 3 sizes of the 6.

mm and their track history of predicting which iPhone will sell well is great huh? They missed the mark on 5C sales massively. Not that the 5C sold poorly, but it certainly did not sell to the extent Apple wanted.

Apple has missed the mark many times.

I do think there is a market for a 4" iPhone. I'll be really surprised if next fall Apple doesn't release the iPhone 7 in a 4" variety.

For example if I were to ever get my mom a smartphone, I would never get her one as big as an iPhone 6.

The alternative is to find a way to make the 4.7" iPhone 7 significantly smaller by ditching the home button somehow and reducing the height of the phone.

Sorry, they could care less, or they couldn't care less? Your point seems to be indicating that Apple will do whatever the hell they like, but then your terminology contradicts that!
OK, yes. I made the mistake I always give other people a hard time about. It has been corrected. Anything else of substance you'd like to add?

For me the 4.7" iPhone 6/6S is close to perfect size. I use a Galaxy S4 now and feel it's just a tad bit large.

That said, in general the phone market is really devoid of high quality, smaller devices. There's the iPhone 6 and then there's Sony Xperia Z Compacts. That's it! Nobody else makes anything but QHD display crap with a few years old CPUs. It's completely ridiculous as there is a pretty good market niche there but nobody but Sony bothers to fill it. I'd guess the Z3 Compact has sold quite decently since there is a Z5 Compact coming soon.

It would be nice if Apple released an iPhone 7 Mini at 4-4.2" screen size.

I'll ignore your generalization that anyone who favors larger over smaller phones is just blindly following the herd, er, flock.

As I said earlier, I have no issue with people who want a smaller iPhone - their preference is no more or less valid than is mine for a larger device. Where we differ is what this means for Apple. Their choice of whether to offer a smaller iPhone depends on multiple factors that go beyond demand, including supply chain, fabrication, profit margin, and distribution to name just a few. Nobody here knows the true demand, let alone the other manufacturing and economic considerations, but I would expect Apple to take all these into account.

I am about 5ft 2 and currently have an LG G3 which is 5.5 inch, have had a note 2 also which is same size. Just takes some adjusting to. I wouldnt go back to a smaller size phone now and will be picking up a 6s pus.

The problem is, I don't do that much with my iPhone. I commute by bike, so the large screen is usually wasted - as is the gigantic GPU power of the 6S.
I don't watch movies on it, either.
WeatherPro, various news-apps, my mobile-banking app (which still works great on my 4S), a shopping-list, reminders, calendar, some email, messages, a bit browsing during lunch, some public transport timetables / travel-related apps, the meetup app, camera, photos, maps.
I've bought two games, shortly after I got the 3GS. I don't play games.
The camera is the thing that in the end will get me to buy one. And maybe the M9 chip.

The reason there is no "small" phone anymore is probably also pricing.
It would have to be priced identically to the larger phones - or people would just buy the smaller one.
And then, developers would have a problem writing software that uses the latest features...
So, price has got to be almost the same - and then people become aware of the fact that the pricing of Apple products isn't that much related to the cost of components...
So, it's a Pandora's box that you don't want to open.

But come next year, the 5S will fall out of the lineup. It will be interesting to know what happens then.
There could be a place for a "shrunken" iPhone 6.

I can remember when just the rumor of the larger 5 and 5S came out people went crazy and swore they would leave Apple if they made the phone larger! iPhone users were freaking out at the thought of a larger phone.

Now the 6 and 6+ sold better than any other iPhone in history.

My wife is 5'1", 100lbs, and has no trouble handling the iPhone 6, not sure what the issue is.
People want to feel special. They will always complain for something. The truth is, the 6 isn't a big phone at all. Anyone crying that 4.7 is too much of a screen over 4 is crazy to me but if they wanna have hemorrhoids about it, so be it. At the end it's their money and they should get what they want. But seriously....I've seen toddlers play with a 6 and not drop it. This is ridiculous.

Let's be honest you've only got to read the forums for half an hour to see a vast amount of posters have an apple can do no wrong attitude.

Any issues with any phones are the users fault. If Apple have said it then it had to be 100% true and accurate.

If Apple decided next year that everyone wants a 3" phone and that's all they released then it would still sell in droves to people who just can't see past the apple tinted spectacles. And bang on about how Apple know best and if they say everyone wants a 3" phone then that's what EVERYONE wants.

You're not allowed to have your own opinions around here. You have apples opinions or you get flamed and told your preference is incorrect because it doesn't agree with apples stance.

Don't get me wrong. I love my iPhone and iPad and intend to get a 6s but I don't worship at the apple church and don't think because Apple say it then it automatically makes it true for 100% of people. And anyone who doesn't agree has an invalid opinion.

You're right. This is ridiculous. Apparently no one is allowed to say that maybe Apple doesn't provide the perfect solution every time. It's not about dropping the phone. It's about my preference. Though I CAN use a 4.7" phone, I prefer a 4" phone. WHY CAN NO ONE HAVE A PREFERENCE??!

You're username seems to fit. Sounds like you'd be faithful to Apple if they make a life raft out of 10 pound weights.

I read all the post again and those who complain seem to not use a smartphone as a computer but more towards a traditional phone. Those who are 4" iPhone crowd should just buy a 5S and an Apple watch for ApplePay and call it a day! These two products provide the small iPhone buyer with everything they need.

The reason they don't want a larger iPhone is they don't use it for media consumption: reading online, gaming, podcast, YouTubing, etc... No desire for bigger screen.

Actually more appropriate phone would be a flip phone.

Some people just don't get it. I can handle the giant phone just fine, but I don't want to carry that thing around all the time. We have 3 ipads, and a couple of Mac computers, and a 5s and they all have their place, but sometimes I just want something small that I can forget about.

I'm not one of those who needs to constantly check my phone. and, I work in the movie biz where we work really hard to make images look good on the big screen, so I have no desire to watch movies on my phone. I just want a small device to make phone calls and send the occasional text. Half the time when I go out I carry a flip phone because I just don't want to deal with something bigger.
