I read all the post again and those who complain seem to not use a smartphone as a computer but more towards a traditional phone. Those who are 4" iPhone crowd should just buy a 5S and an Apple watch for ApplePay and call it a day! These two products provide the small iPhone buyer with everything they need.

The reason they don't want a larger iPhone is they don't use it for media consumption: reading online, gaming, podcast, YouTubing, etc... No desire for bigger screen.

Actually more appropriate phone would be a flip phone.
This may be accurate for some, but definitely not all. I use my 5s as much if not more than the next guy.

You're username seems to fit. Sounds like you'd be faithful to Apple if they make a life raft out of 10 pound weights.[/QUOTE said:
Just stick it to apple and go get an inferior phone this year... I'm sure if enough people do that they will start bending to you.

I wouldn't hold my breath though, the 6 and 6+ seemed to do very well for them.

If the market research arm of the largest company by revenue in the United States indicated that the small iPhone people enthusiasts were large enough in numbers, you would have seen the 4 inch iPhone.

I thought Apple famously doesn't do market research, because "it's not the consumers' job to know what they want" (or whatever the quote is).

I love writing click-bait titles.

Anyway, note to Apple:

SOME OF US ACTUALLY WANTED A 4" iPHONE EVEN IF IT WERE ONLY THE "C" VERSION!

I'm not big enough a person to walk around with a 4.7" phone in my pocket. It's just a tad too big. Why would you discontinue this line altogether? I thought maybe we had a chance at a smaller iPhone 6c... have you dropped that off the planet? or is there a 10 year refresh period or something?

My wife is 5' 2" and 125lbs. She has a iPhone 6 Plus. She doesn't have any issues using it at all. In fact she thinks the iPhone 6 is too small. To each their own. But, as many have pointed out you are in the minority. It's a fact products are market driven, and larger display phones are in demand. Smaller display phones are not.

OK, serious question. Did you read through the thread? I know it's like 5 pages ATM so I sorta understand if you didn't. All other arguments aside though, the fact is, we don't know that that's true. Their could very well be a fair market for 4" phones still. Unless Apple updates a 4" alongside the larger ones, we won't really be able to tell. I personally think that there is the market for it, though many of you seem to disagree.

FWIW, my fine Hobbit friend ...

My wife is pretty close to your position, i.e., doesn't really care about the larger phone, to the point of possibly preferring a smaller device (it needs to fit in her favorite LV wrist tote) ... but she wants Apple Pay, Touch ID, the improved camera (big factor), so she's going to try a 6S.

Oooh, da hate!

Ok, ok, I'll go be an outcast all by my little lonesome.

I'm embarrassed by some of responses you're getting. The "get over it" and "stop whining" and especially the "I don't have a problem so why should you?" attitude is vulgar and I just wish these small (ironically) people would act like they would if they weren't hiding behind a screen.

I thought your post was both humorous and sincere, but not at all whiny. I do know a handful of people pining for a smaller iPhone and wouldn't be surprised if small phones came back into fashion some day. Maybe not ever year, but I suspect that there are enough of you to justify the occasional smaller iPhone once the 5s is truly obsolete.

I wasn't being serious, but rather making a point - Those of us who want an updated 4" want Apple Pay. The rest of the existing 5s is basically fine save for that one point.

Get a watch. The AW Apple Pay is even better and more convenient than on the phone, and you get to keep your 5s.

I already have wrist-watch. And I like it. It runs on solar power exclusively and syncs to an atomic clock. It has some sort of energy-store that is charged by day.
I've not had a single issue with it since I bought it maybe a decade ago.
I just want a normal iPhone - which is considered small these days...

Not true. Sony has released full featured phones in the last year (as recently as last week) with 4.7" displays that are roughly the same size as the 5c. The issue is with Apple's design language.

Yeah - iPhone 6/6s screen size of 4.7" is definitely not the main problem for me, it's the device width and to some extent the height vs the 4" phones.

If the bezels were to shrink, say if the home button goes away and you execute home button functions with a 3D touch in the future, I'd likely be fine with a 4.7" screen - Just need the overall physical dimensions down a bit.

I'm over six feet tall. I use my iPhone 6 all day for reading and listening to podcasts. If Apple released a 4 inch iPhone, I would buy it in a heartbeat. The 6 is indeed more cumbersome than my iPhone 5 was.

Apple was right in their original reluctance to create large screen phones. Many people seem willing to deal with shifting hands, using two hands, etc.— the trade-off is worth it to them. But that doesn't mean everyone who wishes for a smaller iPhone is wrong. Remember when the iPod Nano was preferable entirely because of its smaller size?

Anyone else agree that iPhone 7 should revert back to a smaller design? Maybe the whole 6 and 6+/6S and 6S+ fiasco could be remembered as a slight hiccup in the trend of otherwise beautiful, intricate iPhone designs.

Fiasco, really? Considering it boosted their world wide sales and has driven their competitors market share down, don't really see how its a fiasco. Don't think you'll see anything smaller than the current 5S. Besides it require a big investment in manufacturing for tooling, and inventory of more components. Then there is the issue of developers needing to support more platforms.

I think we'll probably see smaller bezels with the 7, but I doubt they'll ever go back to 4 inches. Maybe if they make a budget phone in the same vein as the iPhone 5c

I don't think it was realistic to expect Apple to unveil a 6c this go around, as the 5s is still available on contract and is still in production. I could see them offering a 6c (or 7c but with mostly 6 series internals) next year. Then again, the 5c might not have sold enough for them to continue that line.

All you small phone acolytes need to go away and stop complaining. Either you get what Apple is offering or you don't. Go seek your 4" phone elsewhere. There are other non-iPhone options that fit the bill for you.
Quite frankly it's getting annoying reading thread after thread about this. If there was a substantial demand (no you don't represent the populous sorry!) for a 4" iPhone Apple would be on it. Unless of course you think you know more than Apple.

This makes perfect sense tbh.?

One could have argued the same for when the 5c came out. I think the main reason they made the 5c was to differentiate it from the 5s, but I guess the upsells weren't enough for Apple to justify developing a "6c"

The 5c was a cost saving measure. They discontinued the 5 instead of making it $100 on contract as they had done with the other phones that were a year old. The fact that they haven't done any other c line phones makes me think sales were underwhelming. And now with the booming sales of the 6/Plus lines, I doubt they're going to try and make a budget phone again.

There may be a new 4" phone next year, but if there is I can almost guarantee it'll have 6 or 6s internals. The 7/Plus will be the flagship lines. I could see them discontinuing the 6 Plus in favor of a mini, since even the two year old Plus would be $100 on contract, not free like the 6 would be, and they may want to keep the Plus as a premium option like they do with the gold color.
