I've had an iPhone 6 since launch and I still long for an iPhone 6 spec phone in an iPhone 5/5S sized body. If I pick up and use my 6 for a while, I quickly start finding my hand is aching from all the stretching and over-reaching required to access all elements of the display. It's got to a point now where I have to hold the phone with my left hand and interact with the screen with my right hand to avoid the aching from single left handed use.

I had the same issue, which why I want 4" iphone.

Because that obviously didn't fix the problem. One of the big things the 5s is missing is NFC. If we just wanted a smaller screen there would be no problem. If we want a smaller screen and the up-to-date tech, then we feel left out. And with Apple, feeling left out means you've probably been ditched.
Apple can fit the same 4.7" screen in a device that's like 5% bigger than the 5S if they get rid of the huge chin and top and reduce the bezel size. The iPhone 6 and 6+ already had the worst body-to-display ratio of any phone out there, and since the 6S/6S+ is the same design that's no different.

The problem is you'd have to sacrifice something to get the same components into a smaller body. What would you be happy to sacrifice to make the body size smaller?

The same level of logic board miniaturization found in the Watch and the MacBook can be applied in the iPhone.

Anyone else agree that iPhone 7 should revert back to a smaller design? Maybe the whole 6 and 6+/6S and 6S+ fiasco could be remembered as a slight hiccup in the trend of otherwise beautiful, intricate iPhone designs.

As an Apple shareholder, I'd be OK with smaller options if it made sense economically. As an iPhone user, I'd be very unhappy if they stopped offering 6 and 6 Plus-size phones. But I think the likelihood of this happening is zero.

I am in agreement with the OP. I am 102 pounds and 5'1 I also just really hate large phones which is one of the reasons I had ditched android. Super disappointed that Apple did not retain a smaller sized iphone similar to the 5s for me that size was the sweet spot. Anyway, such is life right.

I love writing click-bait titles.

Anyway, note to Apple:

SOME OF US ACTUALLY WANTED A 4" iPHONE EVEN IF IT WERE ONLY THE "C" VERSION!

I'm not big enough a person to walk around with a 4.7" phone in my pocket. It's just a tad too big. Why would you discontinue this line altogether? I thought maybe we had a chance at a smaller iPhone 6c... have you dropped that off the planet? or is there a 10 year refresh period or something?

/drama

At least you don't need an iPad as the iPhone 4.7" seems huge to you.

I'm not even particularly small. 5'8. I just don't like large phones. So was also hoping for a refresh of the 4" phones.

I tried android earlier in the year for the second time and still didn't like it and windows doesn't have half the apps I use so that's a no go to.

Unfortunately those of us who don't like large phones don't really have a choice now if we want to stay with iOS.

I could buy the 5s (I have a 5) but why would I pay almost £400 for two year old tech? So I'm resigned to the fact I'll have to get a large (to me) phone.

Going from a 5 to a 6s is a good upgrade and I'm sure I'll get used to it. And if it holds up as well as my 5 has, and I've got no reason to think it won't then I'll be happy.

I'm 6'3" 225 pounds, not the biggest one around my friends and I also hate big phones and huge cars. I liked my iPhone 4s. It fitted every pocket and didn't bend. iPhone 6+ is huge for me.

OneHandWizard solves your issues. You do need a jailbreak though, but it's better than wishing for Apple to release a 4" phone because it likely will not happen ever again.

Like everyone else, I really hope Apple released a iPhone 6c yesterday.:(

As iPhone 5s 32G is down to USD 550 and running iOS 7, this is good for me:
1. A7/M7 good enough for a 4" phone, i.e., less pixels
2. less buggy and simple iOS 7

At first, I want a big phone. then realize it is never big enough unless I carry my iPad.

iPhone 5s... cheap and compact. love it...;)

Get a 6(S)+. It will be big enough unless you need something like the iPad Pro.

If you buy a new iPhone 5S now, it will definitely not come with iOS 7.

I had to upgrade due to my old phone dying, and I went with the 6+ since there wasn't any small phone with the latest technology it really works like a small tablet so it might be big enough to replace your iPad and give you one device to carry around.

Apple HK still sells iPhone 5s with iOS 7. At least its store in Chinese says so.
In case it comes with iOS 8, I shall return it immediately. No question asked.

I never find web browsing on a phone a pleasant experience. I know it's me.

Thanks. Still, I find a iPhone 6+ not as sexy as a 5s. I mean aesthetically attractive.

If the market research arm of the largest company by revenue in the United States indicated that the small iPhone people enthusiasts were large enough in numbers, you would have seen the 4 inch iPhone.

Yep, this is a very true statement and sums it up well.

Sorry, original-poster-clickbait-titling-small person, that's just the way it goes.

Why is this? iOS 8 is much better than 7, and iOS 9 will be a nice improvement too.

people try to find the dumbest things to bitch about.

my friend who is 5 feet tall uses her 5" galaxy phone with no issues.

i'm pretty sure if she can use a device comfortably with her small hands, so can you.

the thing with the human body is is that we adapt. you'll adapt.

Wow, the number of people telling me my preference is just stupid and that I can and should just get over it is rather surprising.

Yes, it is possible for me to use a 4.7" phone. It's also possible for me to use an iPad Pro as a phone if I can just get the cellular version, a phone app and a headset.

Why can people not prefer a smaller size?

And as far as Apple knowing the market for this, has Apple been known to give the public what they wanted? Think back on the Mac Mini update, the iPad mini 3, etc. they couldn't care less what consumers want sometimes.

Steve Jobs prided himself on being able to make something people didn't even know they wanted, but didn't think people would like a smaller iPad. But when the iPad mini came out, it was a huge success and personally what I thought was perfect as far as size went.

Apple doesn't care about this side of the market at the moment. that doesn't mean that that's proof there is no market though. As many others have said, I know a good number of people who have tried larger phones, but stuck with the 5s because it was their preferred phone size. That's not a problem they need to get over.

Sorry, they could care less, or they couldn't care less? Your point seems to be indicating that Apple will do whatever the hell they like, but then your terminology contradicts that!
