Ok, what size? Is it too big to hold, too big to fit in your pocket, or is it just too big to be comfortable around?

There isn't a big difference in the actual size of the device for something like that.

iPhone 4S (3.5" screen): Height: 4.5 inches (115.2 mm), Width: 2.31 inches (58.6 mm), Depth: 0.37 inch (9.3 mm)

Samsung Galaxy SII Epic Touch (4.52" screen): 5.11 x 2.74 x 0.38

So, for another diagonal inch of screen real estate, the device grows half an inch on each dimension. Not really that much difference in practical use.

You'll have to ask him. I personally don't think 4" is too big, I think it would be perfect actually. Bigger than 4" and I think it's getting too big at that point for a phone that I carry around with me in my pocket.

I worded it wrong 4 '' is fine to any BIGGER is a hassle

I am an owner of both platforms. iPhone 4, 4s, unlocked htc sensation for AT&T 3G, and unlocked galaxy s2. I like bits from each. The sensation just feels solid. Nice display too. Galaxy s2 is just fast. The display is kinda over exaggerated though. Colors are weird. And it's cheap feeling. All plastic. The android are fun to play with. Trying new roms, themes, over locking. But u risk the reliability doing this. There always seem to be glitches. No wifi, Bluetooth, camera force closes, etc. you can change how it looks which is the best part. But aside from that no comparison. iOS is way more refined and smooth. App store is 100 times better. Maybe 1000. And u really need a high end phone to enjoy android.

One thing I want to emphasize is they will have bugs. Every one I have used does. But u can make them look very cool. In the end, get one to play with, but if u want as a daily driver stay stock.

You need to remember android phones tend to be wide screen 16:9 compared to the ratio Apple uses. On top of that the iPhone has a lot of wasted space on it. Take for example the Atrix (4") compared to the iPhone. The Atrix is a little taller but not by much and about the same width.

I like my iPhone 4 but I'm a techie (I build computers and other things)and I would like to try android out any tips for iOS to android users. now I'm not getting rid of my iPhone just wanna experiment any tips and any specific model I should try?

Yes, just try it.

Why not?

It's your money, your effort, and your time.
Even if it's gonna be wasted, you will have learnt sth :)

But I guess you will come back soon.

Oh. My. God. That thing is butt*** ugly. Seriously, who are they targeting? 13-20 year olds who want to pilot alien spaceships? I will never understand the DROID marketing. They are so ridiculous.

It will be nice when 4g antenna's shrink for sure.

HSDPA+ is being marketed as 4g so technically the iPhone 4s has 4g:eek:
Except AT&T is rolling out LTE as well...so what are they going to call that then?

Haha. To each his own I guess.

I wish everyone tried Android.

My family has for the most part used Android at one point and they all switched to the iPhone within a few months.

Some on here say they tried Android and stayed with it. Fair enough.

Yes I think both fanboy camps should open there mind to other os's then decide what is better for them they can't say things if they have not tried now at least I have tried android and I went back to iOS

why is everybody so anti-android and pro apple....apple forum populated by fan boys with stupid comments about battery life...each platform has its own pros and cons...all i can say is try it and see what you think, for me android is far superior to iOS because it suits my needs, and the far better screen sizes,customisability,etc......if apple had a bigger screen and more things like widgets i might go back...but at the moment no...

My first smartphone was the HTC Hero lol. Also, I've had both the HTC EVO and Droid Incredible. I've had the iPhone 3GS. 4, and 4S. Not long ago I would have defended iOS and the iPhone to the end, but things have changed drastically. The newer android phones, especially the GS2, are right on par or if not faster than the iPhone. Most times they even outspec the iPhone. I am very tempted to go back to android on the GS2 or Nexus Prime, but I just like Apples ecosystem better. The "user experience" seems to always be better on the iPhone. Android will always just look rough and unpolished to me, whereas iOS looks pleasing and polished. It oozes "class".

The widgets in notifications is a start and apple has acquired a patent for user created widgets and 3rd party widgets in the near future we could see this :D

I recommend sticking with the Nexus line if you switch to android. Android isn't what it used to be. Its come a long way, and is far more stable.

sounds promising....although notifications in both android and iOS leave a lot to be desired!,one thing that does really bug me is that the iPhone and quite a few android phones don't have a LED notification light...:(

Agree with this. We get the updates first.

I actually sold my first Nexus One after owning it for only 3.5 days. It gave me problems but I only paid $100. Sold it back on Craigslist for $150 and it was bought right away. I had a bunk 32 GB microSD that also gave it more problems.

But last night, I felt I wanted to give it another chance and got a brand new one off Craigslist for only $220. Had the screen protection around it and everything was still wrapped up. I was lucky to find the dealer to give it to me at this price since most brand new ones cost over $300-$350 in other online places. And everything is fine so far. Only the bottom touch sensitive buttons can get annoying at times. But this phone is too sexy for even a nearly 2-year old phone that I couldn't resist NOT having in my collection and Android has great potential and can be stable if you kill alot of background processes.

Android is plagued with piracy, but if some people love to pirate and being a free loader like they do with their music and movies, the FREE apps that were are supposed to pay for are out there. Pirates galore! Plus, the way Apple moves with worthy upgrades is TOO slow for some people. Android keeps moving and there is always something new to look forward every month or so. With Apple, they make a worthy update every 2-3 years or so.

I feel the first iPhone and first Nexus had the best and most durable build quality. This Nexus One feels so solid in my hand. Google is going with Samsung two years in a row for the Nexus line. I hope the next Nexus phone after the Galaxy Nexus will come from HTC again or their recently purchased Motorola. HTC and Motorola use far better materials than the Korean manufacturers.

OP, if you want to be open-minded, I say go for it. I now use BOTH platforms to enjoy the best of both worlds and what they have to offer me. Don't let biased fanboys decide your answer. Only you can decide for you by trying it out. It is like having a favorite food. How did you know it is your fav food? By trying it out. What people call "regrets", I call "experience."

Thank you for a well written answer I just wonder why do you have to cut down a lot of background process because apps running in iOS multitasking never seems to slow the device down, But once again thank you for a well thought out answer.:)

Why NOT try whatever tickles your fancy? Just be sure to have a backout plan in case you don't like it.

The great thing with competition is each platform gets better, giving more benefit to the consumer.

And as alluded to, how would you know if you like it or not unless you try it?
