I know this is a rumor site...

Money "could" also start growing on tree's tomorrow.

But I do hope this rumor is true, I have two SE users in the family that love their devices, but the camera's are not quite as good as the latest devices and who wouldn't like wireless charging?

A glass iPhone SE would be heavier, more slippery and fragile.
I'd prefer the SE in plastic so it's even lighter and more tactile, like the 5C which was an awesome phone ergonomically.

Glass is actually less slippery than aluminium, it creates friction. More fragile? That really depends on what you are looking for. Strong glass will be far less likely to scratch and get dents compared to plastic and even aluminium but at the trade of being more likely to shatter.

Update processor, force touch screen, and rear camera to the nice one and call it a day. Make phones fit in my pocket again! MPFIMPA!
I imagine it will be just be a rebranded iPhone 7 or iPhone 8, just like the orignal SE was a rebranded 5s.

I don't seem them continuing to refresh a 6 year old form-factor with new internals and don't see them designing a whole new form factor just for this device - so that is my estimation.

In my view, this device just seems like a way to offer a lower priced option by milking old parts and existing manufacturing processes.

I just want CPU/GPU/camera upgrades. Maybe a black option. Maybe TouchID2. Other than that, leave it alone. Will be sad if they ruin it.

I'd rather see them add other things, like force touch instead of wireless charging

Meh - No thanks on 3D touch..
Count me in the "don't bother with that Apple" camp.

Wireless charging would be great, but I'd be fine without that too.

Just please don't make it bigger Apple!!

Retro-A-No-No!

2018? Let's Go-Go!

Old Kit. New Price. Just Ain't Cutting It Any More!.

Really? Apple Shares Price say different. People are still loving the dated styling. It might not make a jot of sense but you can't put a price on nostalgia.

Well actually, Apple just did!

If the model still works why change it? Kudos Tim!

I have had it since it was announced, and have never had "iPhone envy" relative to the new editions.

I'm so with you..

Not only have I not had "envy", I'm usually relieved to be back on my SE after using other devices when helping family/doing something on their phone, etc.

But if they keep the terrible display contrast why bother? The biggest downfall is the SE's display and I'm not talking about size.

Looks great to me. This is one of those categories where unless you're comparing it side by side to something else, it's likely not an issue at all...certainly isn't for me.

Because that’s an interface feature and the SE is the only device on sale by Apple that lacks it now.

iPads don't have it and we are doing just fine

That's not going to change the adoption rate of 3D Touch. It's just not a compelling technology that adds to an improved user experience. Most can take it or leave it.

I totally agree and hope they leave it out on the SE2 and keep the cost and complexity down

It doesn't seem like many here "get" what the SE is about. It isn't just ONE of the following: smaller, classic design, cheaper, headphone jack, and no additional frills, but a combination of all of the above.

Back in Feb/Mar 2017 a survey of customer satisfaction showed the SE to have the highest satisfaction of all smartphones and the only iPhone to have a higher customer sat rating than Samsung's flagship phone. That'll probably mean that Apple will tinker with the SE design.

For me, the SE continues to work extremely well. If they want to bump the processor and camera up a bit, that'd be OK, but don't tinker with the rest. I'm enjoying the great battery life... doesn't match my Lumia 520 or Sharp Aquos Crystal, but far better than any other iPhone I've owned.

the SE will always be "the flagship phone" if anyone can afford it. It is still the cheapest after all.. My mate picked up an SE few weeks ago.

I don't reckon people care that much about tech when u get a budget phone.. For that, you really need to keep that for larger screens or devices that have the power to do it.

If you'd care that much about FaceID, you wouldn't get a budget phone... even if it was available except if display size was "more important" which would only show FaceID is *not* your number #1 concern

YES, PLEASE. Then add waterproofing, better camera, more storage, 3D Touch, and better speakers—and I’ll be a very happy camper.

Apple - Don't take the bait..

Keep the case, bump up the internal specs & camera, maybe offer more storage and add TouchID 2nd Gen, but keep it conservative, size the same and costs down.

Whatever they’ve done with the iPhone 8 it’s by far the most slippery phone I’ve used. The matte finish of the SE was great.
Basically you’re wrong

If it were not for the ecosystem and iOS i would have moved on to Android by now..Apple is a disappointment to me since the iPhone 5 form factor

I already have, from an SE actually to a Galaxy. It's easier to make the switch than a lot of folks think. I used iPhones for the past seven or eight years and it was time for something new. I'd been looking at the same icons in the same layout with the same menus for long enough and wanted something I can customize. No regrets! Love my new phone.

As for the SE it served me well. Great little phone at the time and still is, mine never slowed down or saw major battery decay at all. Screen size got to me eventually though and I'm more comfortable in the 5.1-5.4'' range now. I hope Apple does it justice with at least a bit of a redesign to make it unique.

Also can somebody explain this sudden hatred for bezels lately? Is it just a vain fashion thing? I mean from a practical standpoint the front camera, earpiece, sensors... That stuff has to go somewhere right? There has to be at least a bit of a bezel. I don't even mind the notch that much but I can see how it's polarizing to some.

I'm conflicted. <warning: sarcasm> Should I replace my transcendent iPhone SE in 2018, or just replace the battery for $29?

Qi would be cool. But the only significant improvement to the SE that I would care about would be to have a brighter screen, and maybe a stabilized camera for videos.

A glass back is a reason *not* to buy an SE 2.

I think any change to the SE will result in a better camera of some kind.
That's always welcome and if that's all they changed, I'd buy it.'

To your point though - It's possible it'll be more of a decision on tradeoffs for some people.

To me, if they keep the size the same and just "upgrade stuff" around that part, I'm in.

Personally if there is a limited budget for designing the SE 2, I'd much rather an A11 being put in but the same design being kept, over a new design and an A10.
