Don't understand the SE love. It's like being in love with a Toyota Camry instead of a Porsche 911.
Suppose you were too small to see over a 911’s steering wheel, or suppose a 911 couldn’t fit in your garage. You’d need a smaller car. You’d like that car eventually to come with an upgraded engine so driving it didn’t get frustrating on all the new roads with faster traffic, and you’d like modern tech bells & whistles, but you’re still most comfortable in a car that fits you.

I think a better analogy is that, the iPhone X isn’t a 911 but a Panamera S, but not everyone wants something as big as a sedan. We want a 911!

They removed the headphone jack so they can add water resistance to the phone. They also got rid of the real home button in the 7.

That was just a lie. There are countless phones with a headphone jack that are just as waterproof as the 7!
And honestly, I'd rather have the headphone jack than a water resistant phone. I've used mobile phones since the Ericsson GH198, GH388, Nokia 2110i, etc... and I've NEVER had a phone broken or damaged by water.... Never.

Agreed. I never cared for the water resistance rating. I never bring my phone around water, pools or in the bathroom. I wouldn’t treat my device any differently even if it was fully waterproof. 3.5 mm Jack just holds more value with me personally.

I really hope this rumor turns out to be accurate. I find the screen on the current SE to be just *slightly* too small.

If it is the same size with smaller bezels, SE2 will be best product in years!!!

Btw, Whuo is Kuo...

Wow I was set on replacing my 7 with the 6.2" lower-end iPhone X2, but if the SE 2 has the same square design that is thinner, with a 4.2" display, water resistant, and upgraded specs all around I'm going to have a tough time deciding.

I don't care bout the headphone jack, I love my Airpods, but thats just me. I would love a waterproof SE, but what i would love most is a double camera and portrait mode.

But again, most important to me is still the form factor! Keep it as small as it is today, only make it thinner if battery life would still be the same, and don't ever think about a camera wart!

To me it is not the one hand operation but more the overall size of the device. iPhoneX is just overall to big for me. So I like an iPhone SE size with a full screen like the iPhone X. Thats an instant buy.

Btw - I can get around my SE with my thumb, not just the screen but overall. To the top is a bit a stretch but doable. Also the face sensor can sit there so no need to go all to the top.

Totally agree, an SE form factor phone with an X full screen design would be really nice and a given buy!

There's room here for the SE to continue (as manufactured in India for the local market and as a cheap iPhone for all).

Imagine above that is the SE2 with A11 and fresh internals - perhaps even that edge to edge screen - to come into the current 6s price point, with the 8 to fall into the space occupied by the 7, and then above that the 8s with a range topping X2 in October. The SE2 doesn't have to have features from the X but just needs to simple stuff like a better screen and up to date CPU.

Above that, rather than having a 6s, 7, and 8 in 2 different sizes making the iPhone market look horribly saturated, they switch to a range containing a 4" form factor phone, a higher end 'luxury' 4" phone, followed by the more traditional 8 and 8s choices and on top of those the range topping X2 (because current rumours have the X disappearing in October).

Easier to manage iPhone range very easily.

The iPhone X is not a Porsche if that's what your trying to say. The SE is a great value for your money. It's beautifully designed and well made as opposed to the Metal, Glass, and Glue Sandwhiches that is the X and 8. I'm looking forward to the SE 2. That's what I will be upgrading to this year.

I never understand the 911 love either - So Mr Porsche you say this is a new model..how can one tell ? The extra 10k marks it out from the the previous model - oh well done you... and does it come in any other colour but that stupidly dull silver or a sense of personality - here meet my friend Mr Ferrari.....

We've already heard multiple rumors suggesting Apple will unveil a so-called iPhone SE 2 later this year, and a new supply chain report from Chinese news website QQ.com claims to have knowledge of the device's tech specs.

iPhone-SE-four-colors.jpg

First, the report says the new iPhone SE won't look like the iPhone X, which would make sense given it's a lower-end device. Instead, the new model will purportedly have a similar design as the original iPhone SE, with a metal back and frame, top and bottom bezels on the front, and a home button.

A key difference would supposedly be a larger 4.2-inch display, but this is questionable given it could make it harder to use the iPhone SE in one hand, which is preferred by a subset of customers. However, it's certainly possible Apple could trim down the bezels of the new iPhone SE slightly.

Apple is likely more focused on making under-the-hood improvements to the iPhone SE, as the device is now outdated by a few years. The report claims the new model will be powered by a faster A10 Fusion chip, although it will supposedly still have 2GB of RAM with 32GB or 128GB of storage available.

The report suggests Apple is planning to unveil the iPhone SE 2 at WWDC 2018 in June, which is certainly possible, but Apple hasn't introduced a smartphone at the event since the iPhone 4 in 2010. If history repeats itself, the new iPhone SE could be introduced at a smaller media event around March.

While most of these tech specs would make sense, the source doesn't have an established track record, so this rumor should be viewed with some skepticism. KeyforWeb.it spotted the report earlier.

There have been many rumors about Apple launching a new iPhone SE in 2018, with many of the sources based in Asia, including research firm TrendForce and publications like the Economic Daily News. One of the latest rumors suggested a new iPhone SE with wireless charging could launch in May-June.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who relays information from Apple's supply chain in Asia, recently cast some doubt on rumors about a second-generation iPhone SE launching in the second quarter of 2018.

If there really is a so-called iPhone SE 2 on Apple's roadmap, Kuo expects it will have few outward-facing changes. He predicts the device would likely have a faster processor and a lower price, rather than iPhone X-like features like a nearly full screen design, 3D sensing for Face ID, or wireless charging.

The current iPhone SE looks much like the iPhone 5s, including its smaller four-inch display preferred by a subset of customers. The device is powered by Apple's A9 chip, like the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and it has 2GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Touch ID.

Apple hasn't fully refreshed the iPhone SE since it launched in March 2016, but it did double its available storage capacities to 64GB and 128GB last March. It also dropped the device's starting price to $349 last September.

Why not get a pair of lightning headphones? No dongle/extra/attachments. Sometimes I just think people like to whine. You must have had a cardiac arrest when they dumped the CD.

Nope, I applauded. For years I felt it was extraneous and Maybe even a luxury to have a built in optical disc reader. Plus, with digital music being so ubiquitous by then, there was nothing lost by not being able to play an audio cd now and then.

Why not get an extra pair of lightning headphones? Because there are probably a half dozen stereos into which I feed my phone on a weekly basis using an 1/8th inch audio cord. It’s pretty damn nice to be able to do that instantly without the effort of having to find and collect adapters or dongle’s. Also, I highly value of the ability to charge my phone and use the headphone jack at the same time very often, without having to carry around a Y-jack.

I assume you were born with two working feet. I bet it’s felt pretty darn convenient to have two for walking around and stuff. You could get along hopping in one, because I think so. So why not, and without whining. Or having a cardiac arrest. Be courageous. Think different.

Sounds good but for that base storage. It should be 64 GB. Anything less is too little.

To that end, I’d rather have a phone directly out of the box that doesn’t have a 75% chance of shattering on the first drop, rather than one that’s waterproof out of the box.

I had a 6. I ditched it for the SE. Because I far prefer the form factor of the 5/SE series. I could have bought a 7, 8 or X. I prefer both the size and form factor of the SE. I chose it. I prefer the flat edges, the flush camera, the power button on top, the headphone socket still existing, the home button... I even find the bezels useful. That's why I would buy it, and that's the point of not making it a 6-style form factor, as far as I'm concerned.

Did exactly the same, ergonomics went out the window with the awkward bar-of-soap 6 onwards - power button opposing the volume buttons so you squeeze together is just poor design, camera bump introduced, meh.

Right!?
For all the praise Apple gets about design, they sure do make some big errors that get swept under the rug too..

The opposing buttons thing may have looked great to Ive's symmetry eye, but it was a horrible usability move.

I’m in the exact same boat. Hated the size of the 6. Love the SE and wouldn’t trade it for anything (except a better SE, of course)!

That would ruin the whole point of the SE. Everyone I know who bought it bought it for the size, not the low price. I think they could get away with doing an iPhone X style bezel less screen to fit a larger screen in the same form factor, but increasing the overall size will hurt it.

This article has me so disappointed. Apple is really missing the mark. Apple thinks people want a cheap small phone. I don't believe that's the case. People just want a small phone period. If they were to make a smaller iPhone X they would have a hit on their hands...even if they sold it at a premium.
[doublepost=1519167705][/doublepost]My dream is to have a 4.5 inch iPhone X. I can do without the dual cameras and the oled screen.

You sir, are incorrect on two counts. Number one, the SE and SE 2 are not cheap. Number two, many people like myself do not want to pay $1000 for any phone.
