I flat out will not pay that much - not merely matter of not wanting to, I just won't.

Whether it’s price or the presence or absence of certain features, Apple has gotten more out of touch than it ever has been, regarding the vast array of different user preferences. They just don’t get it, and/or they hide behind this air of needing to constantly push the limits while offering with very little alternative for users who are willing to pay up the Apple tax but don’t want to live with their devices as if in a minimalist design contest.

I love my Camry. And have no care for Porsche.

You are just a paying customer. What do you know? You should be deferring to today’s Apple for what the right thing is to prefer. Perhaps a one seater sports car with out a moving steering wheel but instead a touch screen input device?

That's what pisses me off..
Good design is much more than simply how something looks and they've gone off the rails.

Many of their products are sort the equivalent of spec/prototype cars from auto shows, where nothing but how it looks seems to matter.

Classic design? Equals 2008 (chin, forehead, home button) & it gets cheers for Apple users?

So Samsung can bring back the clamshell design, complete with reactable aluminum antenna/nub & by using that logic, any Apple user can't poo-poo a Samsung user's reminiscent of a classic design. Nes pas?

Would really love the SE 2 rumors to be true. Like many others have said, all I want is basically a spec bump, and better screen.

I could live without force Touch but I would LOVE a Taptic Engine vibration motor.

I agree. My list of optional but nice to have on the SE2 would be in order:
Taptic feedback
Wireless charging
Force touch

Personally I would put force touch in front of wireless charging, but Taptic feedback would definitely be top of my list.

And I forgot to mention, I definitely want the iPhone 7/iPhone 8 Taptic home button

What an array of preferences by users. Too bad apple doesn’t subscribe to understanding that. I truly dislike the non-moving home button on the newest iPhones. Just awful. Besides not providing as secure a feedback as an actual movable button, I cannot use it in the wire time when wearing gloves. Just truly aggravating. Even worse is the haptic feedback trackpad.

Meanwhile I updated a brand new iPhone 5s I had store to IOS 11 and it bricked useless. Obviously out of warranty Apple was happy to exchange it for $269. Yuk Apple !

Ultimately it’s the price which is pretty simple to understand.

There, you are grossly incorrect sir. The lower price is icing on the cake on top of offering a footprint and feature set that’s vastly preferred by many users such as myself. I purchase a phone as a usable device, I shop first for the features I want and need, then See if the price justifies. It’s a win/win that the SE 2 comes in on the low-end of pricing, being that it’s still a powerful phone with certain buttons and Jacks organized in a way that is most convenient for me. I don’t shop for a phone to be a showpiece. I’m no longer 14 and that shallow. :)

You’re cherry picking the wrong things for your attempted argument. Some of apple’s “advancements” are just fashion and minimalist fad, not robust innovative design. Bezelless phones are for people who never use cases Or leave their phone lying on the table 24/7maybe. What about those of us who need to use a case to address apple’s biggest design flaw, the fragility? It’s hard enough at times to swipe from offscreen with my 5S. If Apple phones go to bezelless design across-the-board one day, I may just finally be off the Apple boat.

I love the look of the iphone SE. I'm currently using a Galaxy S8 as my primary device but my backup phone is a 64gb SE. Love that phone. Don't care for the X or the other iPhone design like the 6, 7, 8. The iPhone SE is a classic design that'll keep my buying it. Love the small size. All Apple needs to do is improve the display, power and memory maybe increase the display size but not at the cost of increasing the size of the rest of the phone. If you want a bigger phone, just buy the iPhone 8 or the crappy X. Apple, leave the size of the SE as is.

iPhone-SE-four-colors.jpg

First, the report says the new iPhone SE won't look like the iPhone X, which would make sense given it's a lower-end device. Instead, the new model will purportedly have a similar design as the original iPhone SE, with a metal back and frame, top and bottom bezels on the front, and a home button.

A key difference would supposedly be a larger 4.2-inch display, but this is questionable given it could make it harder to use the iPhone SE in one hand, which is preferred by a subset of customers. However, it's certainly possible Apple could trim down the bezels of the new iPhone SE slightly.

Apple is likely more focused on making under-the-hood improvements to the iPhone SE, as the device is now outdated by a few years. The report claims the new model will be powered by a faster A10 Fusion chip, although it will supposedly still have 2GB of RAM with 32GB or 128GB of storage available.

The report suggests Apple is planning to unveil the iPhone SE 2 at WWDC 2018 in June, which is certainly possible, but Apple hasn't introduced a smartphone at the event since the iPhone 4 in 2010. If history repeats itself, the new iPhone SE could be introduced at a smaller media event around March.

While most of these tech specs would make sense, the source doesn't have an established track record, so this rumor should be viewed with some skepticism. KeyforWeb.it spotted the report earlier.

There have been many rumors about Apple launching a new iPhone SE in 2018, with many of the sources based in Asia, including research firm TrendForce and publications like the Economic Daily News. One of the latest rumors suggested a new iPhone SE with wireless charging could launch in May-June.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who relays information from Apple's supply chain in Asia, recently cast some doubt on rumors about a second-generation iPhone SE launching in the second quarter of 2018.

If there really is a so-called iPhone SE 2 on Apple's roadmap, Kuo expects it will have few outward-facing changes. He predicts the device would likely have a faster processor and a lower price, rather than iPhone X-like features like a nearly full screen design, 3D sensing for Face ID, or wireless charging.

The current iPhone SE looks much like the iPhone 5s, including its smaller four-inch display preferred by a subset of customers. The device is powered by Apple's A9 chip, like the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and it has 2GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Touch ID.

Apple hasn't fully refreshed the iPhone SE since it launched in March 2016, but it did double its available storage capacities to 64GB and 128GB last March. It also dropped the device's starting price to $349 last September.

My dream iPhone SE 2 will have the A11 chip and a headphone jack. Realistically, it'll probably have the A10 chip and no headphone jack. :/

I can’t see them upgrading the SE 2 to an A11 given it’s the current generation chip in a $1,000 phone and maintaining a sub $350 price point.

I am pretty confident in it being an A10 and if possible, I don’t know if the physics allow it, an A10x that’s in the current iPad Pro would make this a phone suitable for another 3 years.

Personally speaking I want the smaller phone to put in a small pouch under my biking saddle, the new ones don’t fit.

I love the large phones yet I can't say I would not find a SE design with a full screen display (as much as you can get) within the same form factor. iPhone 4S is still one of my favorite iPhone designs aside from too much bezel by todays standards)

Don't understand the SE love. It's like being in love with a Toyota Camry instead of a Porsche 911.

I want a 4" phone and I love the form factor - it has a headphone jack, a touchID sensor and it fits into my pocket and into the cubby in my car's centre console perfectly.

There's no reason it has to have Camry internals, but even so you seem to be equating smaller size with worse quality. I guess that would be like driving a Hummer H2 instead of a BMW M3. Who needs build quality, ride quality, performance or practicality, the Hummer is bigger and therefore automatically better in every single way. *eyeroll*

A thought occurs to me:

1. The next iPhones will supposedly be: (a) a successor to the 5.8" iPhone X, (b) a "Plus" version of (a) at 6.4" or 6.5", and (c) a 6.1" Aluminum (so, something akin to the 7/7 Plus instead of something akin to the 8/8 Plus that doesn't have Qi support) version of (a), all of which running the A12 Infinity (or with some similarly silly sounding suffix name).

2. The 4.7" iPhones (6/6s/7/8) are MUCH closer in size relation to the 4.0" iPhones (5/5c/5s/SE) than they are to the 5.5" Plus iPhones (6 Plus/6s Plus/7 Plus/8 Plus), especially when it comes to the display such that it really isn't that much of a stretch to migrate from something like an SE to something like an 8. This is evident in the notion that Apple deemed the 6 and even, for a short time, the 6s as being the natural next steps from the 5s much in the ways that the 5 was from the 4s.

3. In terms of popularity, the Plus sized iPhones have seen a surge as has that size category of phones in general to the point where phones that are bigger than 5.0" are much more common.

4. The Bezel-less trend has been, on average, much more geared and marketed toward the larger phones (as has been evident in the One Plus 5t, Andy Rubin's Essential Phone, and the Google Pixel 2 XL)

GIVEN THIS:

Apple could very easily deem that the current 4.7" style of iPhone could become the next style of iPhone SE over time as the 5.5" iPhone Plus becomes replaced by the three iPhone X successor phones. If they retained the body style of the iPhone 8, you'd keep True-Tone, Qi support, and the solid-state home button and TouchID sensor. Hell, even if they updated the iPhone 7's design, you'd still have something a fair bit more modern. (And yes, I'd be cool with it if they kept the headphone jack, though I know that's hoping against hope at this point.)

Of course, I'd also have zero problems with them continuing to just put newer innards in the body of the 5s/SE. Though, at some point, the amount of people wanting a 4.7" phone and the amount of people who'd even strongly prefer a 4.0" phone over that would have to be small enough so that you'll appease the vast majority of both camps by just continuing with a 4.7" phone.

Then they have ruined it if they do that.

If your sizes become 5.8" (at similar dimensions to the current 4.7"), 6.1", and 6.5", 4.7" wouldn't be all that bad. But I guess it's much more subjective at that point. I do think that, if Apple does what it has typically done with big product transitions in the past, they will continue to produce an iPhone with some kind of a legacy design for a few more years. And no, I don't mean something with an A9 or A10 Fusion processor in tow.

Don't understand the SE love. It's like being in love with a Toyota Camry instead of a Porsche 911.
As for the 911 vs Camry, the Camry can seat 4 comfortably.
Meanwhile, the SE can fit in my hand better, hence I can use it more comfortably.
On the other hand, I can list a lot of negatives for the 911 when comparing to the Camry but decided not to piss off the Porsche lovers.

The price point was an attractive feature for the SE, Which if Apple retains a similar price tag, then it would also indicate they are not drastically changing the SE by adding extra technology the SE doesn’t need by most who want the smaller form factor over everything else . The SE can be easily updated with display improvements, Processor, water resistance without over stepping the pricing boundary. 3D Touch would be nice, but undoubtedly would increase the price, Which I can live without if it means it retains a similar price tag as the current SE.
back in Feb 2017, a customer satisfaction survey results were released that showed that the SE had the highest customer sat of all other iphones being sold at the time and the only iphone to beat Samsung’s top smartphone.

Those of us who are owners/fans of the SE are not surprised. What many don’t get, is the SE is not supposed to be a mini-me of the flagship models. it’ll be interesting to see if Apple tweaks the current design, drastically changes it, or keeps it as it currently is.

While I agree that the SE is a nice phone, I think that paying less for a product often result in a higher satisfaction because a lot of people will lower their expectations.

If I paid $1000 for a phone I expect it to be perfect, the slightest problem and I become dissatisfied. Maybe because I'd be trying to justify the price and issues are really not helping. If I paid half that price I'd be more willing to overlook a few problems.
