Just to give you my chain of events. I'm now on my fourth iPhone 6 Plus - All brand new retail replacements (Not via genius bar). All four of them have been running iOS 8 and then 8.0.2 and unfortunately they have ALL exhibited the same wifi issues :

1. Cannot connect or find any wireless networks - Reboot required
2. Wi-Fi connected with full coverage but no internet or activity - Wi-fi toggle on/off required.
3. When phone is left idle/sleep for long periods of time especially overnight wifi remains connected with full coverage but needs a on/off toggle to restart connection.
4. No speed issues - Always maximum when connected so not facing that issue. 5. They have mainly been on my 5ghz network but similar issues do occur when tried on 2.4ghz.

Now the thing that leads me to believe is that this all down to software and only certain routers/ network setups is that I have got a work 5S that had no issues on i0S 8.0 on my my network but yesterday when I got my latest plus I updated both 5S 6+ to 8.0.2 and configured them exactly the same on my 5Ghz network. This morning they both exhibited the same wifi issues and when coming back after a 6 hours the 5S that had worked perfectly before couldn't detect wifi on my 5G network.

This shows that its a iOS 8 issue that only caused issues with some devices that are connected to a certain routers.

My brothers got the iP6 in his house that has no issues with his router.

So bottom line no need to get hardware replaced 4 times like me, we just have to wait for apple to address the issue in the next update and live with the unstable networks for a bit long which I appreciate shouldn't be the case for devices that we all pay so much for!

Other than that I love my ip6+ - By far the best phone I have ever owned!

Went through the same trouble as you... 8.1 beta fixed my wifi problems. I would definitely update.

Hi

Thanks for your reply. Is there any way I can download it for free and still use all my existing apps/ settings? I'm a non developer with a standard perosonal apple id?

Oh and just to confirm those who have found a fix with 8.1 beta are they running their devices on a 5ghz network?

Google the download link, not sure if I can post it here... Then plug into itunes, do a shift + check for updates, select the IPSW file and enjoy :)

Oh and 5 ghz works just as well for me without any problems!

8.1 still have the issue randomly. Eg: zite get time out when populating article list. Stock trading apps is best to test this.

I use thinkorswim. I'm full connected to wifi but tickers doesn't blip and after some time it says I don't have network

Just had an issue where according to the status bar and Wifi settings page I was connected to my wifi network, but there was no traffic going over Wifi at all. I was connected to my 2.4 network. Switched to my 5 and it worked. Switched back to my 2.4 and it also worked.

For whatever reason my 5s running 8.0.2 just stopped talking over Wifi.

Definite slow WiFi on iPad Mini Retina, came about after iOS8 upgrade, still experiencing it on iOS8.0.2. Pages load very slowly or just stall. Girlfriend is taking the device to Genius Bar today to discuss, will update later.

No such issues on iPhone 6 or 5 or indeed on an old 4S

EDIT: Have restored the iPad and it made no difference

8.1 Beta does not fix my issues on 5ghz on iPad air.

Apple I hope you are working hard on a solution. This is crazy.

iPad mini latest generation - slow wifi here, too

On 8.0.2, resetting the network did not fix the problem for me. Going in and out of airplane mode can provide intermittent improvement, but it's not consistent. No issues with cellular data, appears to be only wi-fi related.

Best I can tell, iOS 8 gets into a state where it just negotiates the link rate of the wireless connection down to an unusable speed and never recovers. It's really stupid. I've seen it do this occasionally on iOS 7, but never as frequently as on iOS 8. Maybe this is a good thing in that they'll find and fix the problem once and for all.

Wifi won't connect after being on LTE even if I'm in a wifi area. This wasn't a problem with the original ios 8. It's a new issue with 8.02.

The problem won't correct by toggling the wifi switch. Have to shut down and restart the phone and then it will connect.

This is ridiculous.

Yes I had two devices that had issues with wifi. A ipad air and mini retina. They were both updated with iOS 8.1 beta 2 and both seem to be working fine now. With the retina mini, I had to reset network settings. But the air worked ok from the install.

Haven't read the entire thread, but...

I solved my slow wifi issues by switching from 2,4GHz to 5GHz on my router.
The following 3 phones got almost instant wifi from doing so: iphone 6 64GB, and two 16GB models.

So the issue seems to lie in the way iOS 8 handles 2,4GHz wifi, at least from my somewhat reliable results.

Crossing my fingers 8.1 fixes the issue once and for all. Tired of telling family members I can't fix their wifi issue. Then they yell at me for telling them to upgrade to iOS 8.

Slow wifi in iOS 8?

Praise the Lord, 8.1 beta 2 fixes the wifi issue.

Probably. I'm on beta 2 and this is what I'm getting.

I'm on a 50 Mbps plan for what it's worth.

Edit: Didn't see your post further down. Seems like the issue was fixed for good! I was getting 20-25 mbps yesterday and got worried Verizon started throttling my Internet!

@everyone with problems

I have an iPad mini Retina and have been having the slow Wi-fi issues since i updated to iOS8. The issue is just random and it only is noticeable if i am in a video streaming app like youtube or netflix or any other. I might have solved it a (at least what i can see right now) by changing my Wi-fi connection's DNS address to 8.8.8.8 which is Google's public DNS.

I have found this fix on a Youtube video and seemed to work for some. Worth giving this a try for you all

Mine is still fine. Strange that you have issues. Tried network reset? That fixed my retina.

I noticed from your other post that 8.1 Beta 2 has fixed the wifi issues we have all been having? Is that still the case now that you've tried it for seversl hours? No cut off's requiring a restart or wifi on/off toggle? Thanks

Apple Genius Bar appointments are totally booked out in London (main flagship store) and in Paris. Seems to me there are many more problems out there than normal, typically we would be able to book an appointment same or next day. As such the girl friend could not get her iPad Mini retina wifi issue looked at.

Praise the Lord, 8.1 beta 2 fixes the wifi issue.
Please keep us updated, others reporting it returns ("I will be back" )

So far so good. Only had to toggle wifi once or twice. So just a few more tweaks needed. But it's much better.

You shouldn't have to toggle at all. I'm sick of this issue. Time for a class action lawsuit. Apple would fix this ASAP if they thought they would have to pay for people's overage charges.
