Pperhaps the unit is defective, as I have no issues with wifi on my iPhone 6. I'd take it in, see if Apple can test and possibly replace the unit.

Didn't you read the parts about this being a widely reported issue?

There would be no way to put 7.1.2 on an iPhone 6/6+. The WiFi issue primarily affects the iPhone 6 and iPad Air which uses a similar Broadcom chipset.

Its not just an issue on the iPhone 6.

my 5s which is now slaved to ios 8 and the mercy of apple, will not maintain a 5 ghz connection to my apple airport router. it works fine at 2.4 ghz but drops out randomly when connected to 5 ghz band.

This issue did not exist with any version of IOS 7, and all of the other IOS devices in my household that support 5 ghz wifi can maintain a connection just fine. None of those devices have IOS 8.x.x installed on them.

Yes the 5ghz issue affects other devices but the majority of the wifi issues are with the newer hardware. And putting 7.x on the new iPhones is impossible.

8.1b2 hasn't helped at all for me. Bluetooth and WiFi still refuse to work *at all* on a brand new iPhone 6.

Beta 2 is better for me but still not 100% fixed. My issues are only my iPads and only on the 5ghz band. My iPhone 6 doesn't have the issue strangely. Hopefully they will sort it out soon I hope.

Update: iOS 8.0.2 did not fix my connectivity issues. It doesn't happen often, but when it does the phone can't find anything. Sometimes it freezes for a second when turning Wi-Fi on and off.

So I just had a new airport extreme and wanted to test it, I reseted network settings on iphone6 (ios 8.0.2) and it was super fast (around 250Mbps).
Few days later without anything changed I'm back to awful performance, sometimes wifi losing connection...
I now just had a ping test failure in speedtest, and then after retry I got... 1.82Mbps/3.65...
Waiting for 8.1 and if nothing changes with that update I'm bringing it to genius bar :(

many of my coworkers and myself are having some wifi problems at work since the update. it just suddenly stops working sometimes. no data is being transmitted and the iphone doesnt seem to care and won't switch to 4g either. manually disabling and enabling wifi fixes the issue... until it happens again.

It's a DHCP server problem with some apple products

You have to manually enter an IP address for most of your apple products in your router to keep a stable connection.. I read about this in an apple support forum and i don't remember the whole details but anyways, after I added them manually with a static ip I've had stable connection since :D

Doesn't work for me. On the iPhone 6, it will be connected and just stop sending or receiving data. Not using DHCP does not solve it. And it also would not fix the issue where you randomly get disconnected, and the iPhone 6 will not find any wifi access points. It then requires a restart or sometimes disabling wifi will fix it.

My 5s will hold a connection, but it will not always be able to use it. It will also resist letting go of one AP and moving on to another, which really screws with wi-fi calling.

As for 5Ghz connections, it wont even show them. I can enter it manually and it will work, but it will not reconnect to that band automatically.

Wait :$ you HAVE to use DHCP! I'm saying you have to make the ip static for that device

Until this is fixed via a future update the majority are screwed!.

Only way to get connected to wifi again after stall is to reset handset or delete network settings. Both only last a short while until the wifi speed stall again.

Word to the wise, don't restore over wifi while this is happening, my last retore took over 24 hours to complete.

Still scratching my head over what seems to be the lack of urgency being taken from Apple to stamp out this major floor on what was supposed to be their milestone iOS release and flagship handset.

I'm currently using the iPhone 6 but tempted to resort back to my 5 until this is sorted.

Quickly losing patience now.

What worries me is I've read some BETA testers of the new iOS 8.1 saying that they are still having wifi problems running the new iOS release.

Slow wifi in iOS 8?

They are aware, but they don't seem to have a large enough sample size to determine the cause. That or there are multiple causes.

I've seen the problem on my 5s where Wifi networks just vanish from the Wifi settings screen. Sometimes they come back on their own after awhile. I've also had the case where I'll be connected to my Wifi network, but no data will transfer until I turn off Wifi and turn it back on. I've not had any problems connecting to 5 Ghz networks though, so that might be an iPhone 6 specific problem.

I was contacted by senior level Apple support based on a post I wrote over in the Apple Discussion boards and they wanted to gather logs from my phone. Coincidentally I had just files a bug report over at Apple's bug site so I pointed him to that. Unfortunately, while I had the missing Wifi problem while logging, I didn't have the "no data" problem, so my logs may or may not have been useful.

People having consistently reproducible problems should install the Wifi logging profile available at the bugreporter.apple.com site and reproduce the problem and then file a bug. That bypasses the usual "genius" level support, though at this point even calling into Apple support complaining about Wifi problems should push you up the support chain.

I've done this and it has not yielded consistent results with my phone.

Just a quick snapshot of my chain of events. I’m currently on my fourth iPhone 6 Plus 64GB here in London, UK. Every time I have spoken to AppleCare and told them that I have gone through all the Wi-Fi troubleshooting methods possible they have asked me to get a brand new retail replacement as I’m within my 14 day return period. I’ve been experiencing the following issues:

1. Wi-Fi disconnects and switches to 4G (Restart required for temp fix)
2. Wi-Fi is still active but there is no traffic or activity– often when in sleep mode for long periods of time. (Toggle Wi-Fi on/off for temp fix)
3. Wi-Fi disconnects and cannot find any networks (restart required for temp fix)
4. This has been occurring on both iOS 8 and 8.0.2
5. The issues are the same on both my 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks
6. This is affecting my ip6+ and 5s (5s used to work perfect on ios7 on same networks) – My MBP-R and all other devices run perfectly on my network.

I spoke to AppleCare again yesterday and asked for their advice as its now my fourth iPhone in just under a month. This time they said that apple were fully aware of the Wi-Fi problem and that new repair tickets were not being raised for their engineers as they are already working hard to get this resolved. They also said they could see all the issues raised on the apple discussions boards which they usually don’t admit too! I asked what to do next and the advisor apologised and said this is clearly a software glitch and will be resolved in the next update. I asked for a timescale but unfortunately none was given.

As stated above I have tried all the troubleshooting methods discussed on forums and on tech websites but the only thing that gives me a stable connection without any disconnects (especially on my 6 plus) is turning cellular/mobile data off when I know I’m going to be on Wi-Fi for a sustained period of time (e.g. at home or work). I appreciate this is annoying but it’s the best temp fix until an update comes out.

Hope it helps everyone who is having issues with their devices that have cellular functionality.

Any comments welcome

Thanks for the recap. That pretty much sums it all up.

Turning off my cellular/mobile data and voice didn't work for me. :-( I'm having issues on my 6 and iPad Air. I'm in awe of how there is absolutely no work around. I have tried absolutely everything. My devices connect to every network but there's little to no down but up is working fine.

Pperhaps the unit is defective, as I have no issues with wifi on my iPhone 6. I'd take it in, see if Apple can test and possibly replace the unit.

My iPad Air and iPhone 6 have this issue. Everything worked perfectly until I had devices with iOS 8. I will think twice before I ever update to a brand new iOS. It's even more disturbing that "bendgate" was a major headline and this isn't even newsworthy.

Guys try to fix your wifi channel instead of using auto. I just try it and it is my best wifi experience since upgrade to iOS 8

My iPad and iPhone 6 both on iOS 8.0.2 now won't connect to wifi today. Yesterday they were working perfect now for some reason I keep getting the "incorrect password" pop up. Tried resetting the network settings, rebooting, even restored my iPad, nothing seems to be working. I even restarted my router and nothing works.

Is my only solution now to wait for 8.1?
