well... I`m joining the club.
Since iOS 8.0 (now 8.0.2) I have a lot of Wifi issues on my Ipad Air, Ipad Mini Retina, Iphone 5S and Iphone 6.
****** this!
I even used another router. The issue is clearly on iOS level.
I hope they will fix it asap...

Wifi cutting out and iP6+ needing a reboot

The DNS 8.8.8.8 option seemed to fix the Wi-Fi losing activity on my iPhone 6 Plus (UK) but it didn't resolve the Wi-Fi just dropping out fully. Even with the new DNS setting on my phone's connections ( not from the router) the Wi-Fi dropped out fully and would not find anything when searching unless I restarted the phone. This is a big issue and very annoying. Does anyone think the Wi-Fi cutting out and not being able to find networks is a hardware issue or still related to 8.0.2?

Has anyone found a temporary fix for the Wi-Fi completely cutting out?

Just to note when the Wi-Fi does work I have never had slow speeds. Its always blazing fast.

Any comments / suggestions would be appreciated.

This is extremely disappointing

Yeah, i was hoping I could put my iPad Air back into use...

Btw, I'm wondering whether a "poll" would make senes... still trying to differentiate whether it affects a wide range of users on different devices, or just one particular kind of device (in other words: chipset).
Seeing I read about the iphone 5s a few times and that shares the same chip as the Air.

I haven't experienced slow wifi speeds, rather wifi drops. And very often too in 8.0.
8.0.2 seems to have fixed it for now at least.

Unfortunately changing from WEP to WPA2 isn't a option me. Doubt work will change its settings for me.

Should I exchange my phone for another one or will I continue to have the same problem?
If you can hold out for the next update, I'd wait. If 8.0.3 or 8.1 comes and it's still no better, then return it. I guess it depends on if you can return it easily (close to Apple Store or wherever you bought it), if they have your desired size & color in stock, etc. I've never had to return an iDevice so I'm not sure if it's a hassle or not.

I think it's a software issue that could be resolved in an upcoming update, but I'm not on the Apple team, so there's that...just my guess ;)

do u even know the difference?

  • wep is the weakest security, can be broken in seconds
  • its not part of 802.11n or 802.11ac specification, using wep will force most if not all clients down to 802.11g/a speeds, thats 54mbps link rate with about 24mbps max throughput

I don't know the difference but I do know my job isn't going to change it for me.

For some reason, on 8.0.2 the phone still strives to find the right wifi connection.
Although unlike 8.0, this one ends up connecting after a while.

I couldn't get more than 1 down and 1 up.

Once I reset network settings I seemed to be getting speeds which I am more accustomed to with the iPhone.

The Wi-Fi drop outs continue! Spoke to an AppleCare UK representative yesterday and advised that I had tried all the possible steps to resolve. He agreed and said it could only be down to hardware so best to get a replacement.

I honestly don't think it will resolve the issue but the problem is the advisor said I was the first one to report wifi issues so I don't think they are going to acknowledge any time soon!

What to do as my return date is Monday 6th and I'm on my third iPhone 6 Plus 64GB -

1. Had yellow screen in bottom left hand corner and also dropped connection once ( 8.0)

2. Had a yellow screen and decolouring across the whole screen (8.0)

3. My current one - great screen but continuous Wi-Fi drop out issues (8.0.2)!!

Do you think its worth risking it for another replacement?!

Have you guys disabled Wi-Fi Networking Services? That seems to have resolved my issues.

After updating to iOS 8, my wifi has also slowed to a crawl. Pages never finish loading, comments on facebook is nothing more than a never ending spinning wheel. Hoping for a fix in 8.1.

There is already a problem which about using whatsapp via wi-fi... (Delaying the delivery of messages)
8.1 beta, i5S

My 5s and my iPad retina have WiFi problems, my old 4S which is not on iOS8 is running fine.

My wifi is slower compared with my 4G since ios8. 8.1 doesn't help. No connectivity problem though. iPhone5S here

Just to give you my chain of events. I'm now on my fourth iPhone 6 Plus - All brand new retail replacements (Not via genius bar). All four of them have been running iOS 8 and then 8.0.2 and unfortunately they have ALL exhibited the same wifi issues :

1. Cannot connect or find any wireless networks - Reboot required
2. Wi-Fi connected with full coverage but no internet or activity - Wi-fi toggle on/off required.
3. When phone is left idle/sleep for long periods of time especially overnight wifi remains connected with full coverage but needs a on/off toggle to restart connection.
4. No speed issues - Always maximum when connected so not facing that issue. 5. They have mainly been on my 5ghz network but similar issues do occur when tried on 2.4ghz.

Now the thing that leads me to believe is that this all down to software and only certain routers/ network setups is that I have got a work 5S that had no issues on i0S 8.0 on my my network but yesterday when I got my latest plus I updated both 5S 6+ to 8.0.2 and configured them exactly the same on my 5Ghz network. This morning they both exhibited the same wifi issues and when coming back after a 6 hours the 5S that had worked perfectly before couldn't detect wifi on my 5G network.

This shows that its a iOS 8 issue that only caused issues with some devices that are connected to a certain routers.

My brothers got the iP6 in his house that has no issues with his router.

So bottom line no need to get hardware replaced 4 times like me, we just have to wait for apple to address the issue in the next update and live with the unstable networks for a bit long which I appreciate shouldn't be the case for devices that we all pay so much for!

Other than that I love my ip6+ - By far the best phone I have ever owned!
